Another lawsuit against sony

because people have seen that sony's had lawsuit troubles in the past and they want to get in on trying to get the some unearned money?

Demanding the recall and destruction of every PS3? That's more than a little harsh.

The company will then probably demand that all Sony PS3s be made with their chips just so they can get more money if this law suit goes against Sony. That is the real kicker that this is more than a slap on the wrist.

except it's not just Sony that made the chips.. Toshiba and IBM were involved, weren't they? The fact they are JUST going after Sony is more that they seem to wanna get money from a lawsuit like other companies have against Sony.. they just want the quick cash which too many damn lazy ass Americans have seen as a way to get money these days.. sue and get money -_- I highly doubt they could patent technology that's out now back in 1991 (unless I'm reading something wrong x.x which could have been cause I read it last night when I was damn tired XD)

demanding all PS3's be destroyed.

lulz... is a corruption of lol.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean people aren't out to get me.

The company suing does actually own a proper patent for their claims, it seems. Therefor, it wasn't they were out to get them but more or less a matter of time before they learned of its use without their permission. Had Sony recognized it and agreed to a deal, it would have been fine, I'm sure. Whether or not they just didn't recognize it or tried to skeet their willy through, I don't know what to think.

Ele, yes. IBM and Toshiba did their parts in the cell processor development. However, didn't Sony step in and buy it from them? If that's how it went down, it relieves them of anything brought against it. Sony buys it and sticks it in their gaming console so they are the ones who put it to use and had time to make sure the proper channels where gone through to use it.

I do think it's stupid though. I don't think people should be able to sue for each and every little thingy-ma-bob that makes a processor a processor. It should be totally an end result thing. However, I can see the flaw in that logic for sure.

I still don't see how a patent for technology in 1991 would effect now.. hell.. patents only last 14 years or so iirc. Even so that means the patent was up at 2005.

The lawsuit is moot anyway, the US patent office said that the patents didn't conflict when Sony filed theirs, and cited it as such. Funny how they can even get a judge to hear a suit like this.

if some random company came to my house and told me to destroy my ps3 because sony had broke some patent infringement, i'd hit them with a baseball bat.

The company is a known patent troll. They don't produce anything, they just acquire patents they think may be useful and then when someone develops a similar technology, they sue them. They really fuck over small tech firms who can't afford legal fees but they've bitten on more than they can chew with Sony.

Shouldn't they also sue Intel and AMD for making single processors with multiple cores that work in parallel ? XboX360 also has parallel activity with it's 3 core setup.

I tried to google who exactly Parallel Processing Corp is, i can't find no website or explination of any output they ever did. Even though that's not important in these leagal cases, it's still laughable.

I hope Sony counter sues Parallel Processing Corp and puts an end to them. Cause if they manage to hit Sony, they'll move onto the rest of the multicore developers. What that would mean for us ? We either purchase a brand new CPU of the past, or if we actually want to upgrade, we'll be paying higher fee's for the latest CPU's.

They have 0 chance at beating Sony in court. Sony's lawyers knew about their patent when they patented the cell in the first place and they discussed with the patent office who agreed the tech was different enough that it was alright.

They are just looking for a handout, hence they went for the ridiculous recall/destroy bullshit, thinking Sony will settle on the off chance they might get ridiculously unlucky in court. Unlikely.

It's like McDonalds and that one lady, ever wonder why it say "HOT" on the coffee cup? Some fat lady ( No offense to anyone overweight ) spilled coffee on herself and got burnt, she sewed and won. Just 'cause it's bullshit doesn't mean the public can't win, Personally I hate the PS3 ( Unless FFXIII is orgasmic and they remake FFVII ) with a passion. So in the end, the lawsuit and everything about them recalling and public winning is in the air.

Lol, how do you hate a game system with a passion? Fucking loser.

Did she win the first place ribbon with her sewing skills? It must be hard to sew an entire company.
