"Someone i know in-game decided to do the unthinkable...buy gil. It was a one-time thing according to him, which, can be forgiven somewhat (temptation can be a bitch). But the unexpected happened. Upon him receiving his newly acquired gil, SE completely erased his account. He lost everything he had worked for these past few months. A week went by before he was finally able to get back online again (amazingly he was able to re-register his old name). That's when he told me what happened. Turns out that SE was doing a crackdown on gilsellers and gilbuyers and cancelled over 300 accounts. I felt horrible about my friend but, at the same time, way to go SE!!

So to all would-be gilbuyers...BEWARE!! Big Brother IS watching and he's right next to the Delete button. "


This is taken off a thread on killingifrits from the Diabolos server. Anyone seen <insert huge gil buyer here> lately?
 
Wow, thats awesome. At least they are possibly doing something about finally.

sorry i dont think its true till i see it actually happen i went to ige.com they are stocked with gil and also wgseller.com is stocked too so i really dont believe it ><

I remember the whole tittimonga getting jacked thing.

I mean, even if he did sell tittimonga and buy Istar, they were damn near exact copies as far as job and skills and Missions go... So what's the big deal? He wasted his money if he did that. Why do you give a fuck? He still worked at having a whm that has sky, and now he has a whm that has sky with a different name.

What gives? Did Istar MPK you last year or something?
 
I don't know if you know this, but BUYING and SELLING accounts is Real Money Trading. I wouldn't be surprised if someone sticking their hand in that kind of fire would lead to other endeavors, such as buying gil. Sorry, were not all naive like yourself.

And as far me disliking Istar, THE ORIGINAL ISTAR, I don't. He was a funny, caring guy, a good a whm, and it's a shame he had to leave this game all of a sudden.
 
True, that is RMT, but he said he didn't buy or sell an account...

I believe him for the simple fact it doesn't make sense to sell 1 mule, then turn around and buy another character that has almost the EXACT same shit.

I'm of the understanding no money changed hands. Do you have proof he bought it? If so I'll just drop it, if not, maybe you should just drop it.
 
You're right. The best part of any business is to give away their merchandise. Passions said it was "stolen".

I'm not computer savvy so correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way I can see that happen is if someone were to hack your PC, and I imagine PC's keep logs of what enters/leaves/tries to connect to the internet/etc, and I also believe that is against some kind of law. So IGE recieved the account like this? What happened again? That story is so farfetched I don't even know how it began.

What IS clear is that someone purchased it. Now I don't think IGE has had to stoop so low as to actually start hacking PC's to get accounts, nor would I think someone was looking through Passions' window and exclaimed "WHOAMG! FFXI ACCOUNT! IMMA HAX THAT SHEET AND SELLZ IT NUGGA!!!". AFAIK, IGE doesn't just give accounts because of some random story no one can prove, and I DO know about this because I was in live chat with one of their chat bots trying to scam some gillzorz out of 'em. It seems like buyer's remorse. He got sad he sold it and decided he needed another Whm, etc etc. I'm right. We all know it.
 
Wow how many accounts does passions have? according to this thread so far istar, passions, pandorda, tittimonga holy hell thats like 40 bucks a month x.x
 
Apparently it was 7 accounts. I'm lazy, do the math. I expect anyone with that kind of bacon irl to buy gil, shit you might as well, but it's awfully fucking annoying when all you hear from Passions is how uber he thinks he is when it was really some poor dude in asia.
 
jesus H christ thats 12 x 7 = 84 bucks a month. WoW that is a shitload to pay a month for a game and thats assuming theres ONE character per account. SEESH some people have too much money to blow on a game
 
Annoying as it may be, you still have no proof that he paid money to anyone but SE.

in order to steal an account, just place a Key logger on someones comp, then when you get there log in info, then chage the credit card info.

If you don't know the CC info, SE won't even talk to you.

Next step? Harras the people that sold it. He did. They gave him an acount they could have gotton $100 for.

$100 out of the hundreds of thousands they make everyday. Not a big loss to get someone to go away and stop threatening you for doing something you aren't supposed to.

Seems perfectly logical to me.

As far as it being some poor dude in asia... I could understand that... If pasions didn't already have a character with everything that Istar had. But he did. Soooo......

Why you gotta be down on passions?
So why do you think he buoght it?

BTW, i'm not tryin to piss anyone off or start a flame war. I had a good experience doin ZM4 and 5 with passions, he is skilled and knows how to play the jobs very well. I just wonder why everyone can't believe a perfectly viable explanation.
