Well I've been looking aroud alot, I'm still currently wearing the centurions set, excluding a few peices. Well i picked up a lvl 40 sword, and now I'm looking ahead gear wise. I know I should have 2 sets of gear at this point. 1 armor set and 1 magic set. So for a 45 RDM, what armor would you suggest, and what mage gear. I'd appreciate it if when you named a peice of armor you named the stats also. Thanks

Some of the gear depends on your race. The RSE equipment is good for mages for most races, but is more melee-oriented for taru's.

One piece all mages are aparently "required" to have is a seer's tunic (level 29: def:18, +8 mp, +1 hmp). It's not really a requirement, but some people get bent out of shape if mages don't have it.

Another item you may want to get, but you will need high level help to get, is a moldavite earing (Level 47: +5 magic attack bonus). The reason you'll need some high level help is because the earing is rare/ex, and the NM that drops it is level 50, so you won't be able to solo it at your level. The NM is usually camped though, since the earing is not a 100% drop, but it might be free some time.

You might also want electurm rings (level 40: -20 hp, +20 mp) for mage gear.

The rest I don't know about, since my rdm is level 5. I would think just get some +int and +mp gear for being a mage and some decent armor, sword and shield for meleeing.

What race are you?

Race helps out a lot when you want people to help you with gear...such as, if you were taru, i'd say get some MND gear, elvaan, get some INT and MP gear...

If you're lvl45, then don't worry about melee gear much. Because you're going to be too busy to melee. Enfeebling, Refreshing, MBing, etc. When you get Haste, you're going to be even more busy than usual...so you shouldn't really buy melee gear..and if you solo, personally, only about 1/3 of your gear should be geared towards melee.

This is my RDM gear at the moment:

1) RDM can't use seer's.
2) Electrum rings, Morion or Cunning earrings. Molditive if you can get it. I still don't have it and I'm lv62. I am trying to get it though.
3)Body pieces... MND and INT gear.
4) Red Cape, or Red Cape+1
5)Druid's Rope
6)Clubs for melee, until you get staffs. For soloing use your Fencing Degen until you can use a Wize Wizard's Alence.
7) Doesn't matter the shield. Pref Astral Shield but it is expensive...
8 ) Morion Tathlum if you come across it. Isn't nessessary though.
9) Get rid of your Cent. Gear, is useless. Buy Combat casters equip, it will work for awhile, or buy a body piece with +INT/MND. And use an electrum or gold hairpin.. hairpins work until your Chapeau.
10)Devotee's mitts for your hands. Nice +MND and MP
11) Holy Phial or Promise Bage will work for your neck.
12) Inferno Sabot's will work for feet's until your AF2 bootaloons.
13) Legs again Combat Casters will work...
14) Goodluck!

By now I'm sure you know that you can't have everything. So you need to decide whats more important to you, and if you have the gil, buy all the gear for all the situations.

I used Royal Squires Robe at that lvl for the +10mp, Rse Feet +12mp, and Rse Pants +32mp, because as rdm your always lacking mp and that should come as first priority imo. Without these 3 pieces of equiment which i think you should have by now (especially since you can get it now), your losing 54mp. This is a huge advantage for you to have and i couldn't imagine myself playing redmage to its fullest without it. And those feet and pants will last you even past AF, and alot even prefer them over AF, so as hard as it is to get, its worth it.

However... I hate the fact of running around jueno in a robe so buying armour for looks or farming helps with the ego a bit, but thats all that armour is really gonna do for you at this point. Now that I look back I farmed a hella lot to equip all that extra armour and I'm not sure i'd do it again.

The kind of gear you get really is determined by your sub and your role in the current party. If your required to be main healer, you'll need to also land slow, and paralyze pretty quick so you have more time to heal. Subbing whm and getting mind equipment would helps lots in this situation. If you have a whm, then you should participate in skill chains with your nukes, in this case sub blm, and get some int to help with the damage.

So i really appreciate ur advice the most dante, im saving my gil up before I level so I can get my Hume RSE slacks and feet. 80k each :( . If anyone wants to hook me up with it I'd aprreciate it. I also would like to get my AF sword this week. Now the royal squires robe is also up there with items to get. So now my current question is what gear should i nab first? Already picked up all my spells to 50. So I'm all set magic wise.

Just quest your RSE it is alot easier than buying it.

Anytime dude.

I guess the gear you get first is the one you can afford first, or the one thats easiest to get. Though the pants with 32 mp is a nice start. :D

Yeah, just quest the RSE. If you need help with it and I'm online and free, just send me a tell. I know what mobs to kill in each of the three dungeons and can find my way around the Maze and Ordelle Caves no problem. I also know some of the spawnpoints for chests. I've helped friends before. It's no big deal for me anymore.

thanks i appreciate ur offer, I will probably be sending u a tell some time this week :)

edit: Hey neyla would u feel like doing it wednesday say 7 ish?

Sorry I didn't get online when we'd planned tonight. I passed out on the couch as sick as a dog. We can get the key pretty much any night if we're both free. I believe your next RSE week is Friday in Gusgen Mines. The only headache about that is getting a chest. I find that place rather confusing compared to the Maze of Shakrami and Ordelle Caves. The key, however, won't be a problem.

No problem at all a group of friendly adventures helped me get my AF1 done instead so no problem.
