ANT ATTACK

We had a very bad problem with earwigs coming into our house last year. After I finally got the exterminator out to check on it and to spray for them, he gave me a good tip on how to drive them away from the house, since they also come in seeking water.

Pour bleach down the sinkdrains, he tells me. The smell sends em away. What do you know, it worked. A couple weeks after he sprayed and I saw a few coming in anyway, I poured a capful of bleach down every sink drain, and never saw em again, until this year, when I did it again lol.

Thats a really good idea, Trist. We have something of an earwig problem at my house (although not bad enough to call an exterminator). I'ma go pour bleach down the drains lol

I went to pour bleach down the drain in my bathroom and there was an earwig crawling around the drain, so I poured bleach on him and watched the fucker die. Pretty brutal.

Hot Shot Home Insect Killer. It's safe for the home and you don't have to worry about kids or pets at the dorms, I'm guessing. It gets rid of them for up to 9 months and this stuff WORKS. You spray it around the outside of your house, window sills, and rooms and they should be gone within a couple of days. I don't know about roaches or other insects, but it will definitely get rid of spiders and ants.

I always heard that ants wont cross a line of chalk so if theyre coming through a window, we did that at work and it helps. Doesnt kills them but now they gotta find a new way in.

Why do you want to get rid of spiders?

I find those creatures a godsend. Gets rid of flies, mosquitos etc. nicely. If I see a spider I leave it there, unless its somewhere I usually am, like by the computer, by the bed etc. In that case I pick it up and place it somewhere else.

Only daddy long-legs spiders do this actually, most other spiders (the freaky looking ones) can actually leave pretty bad bite marks.

But yes they do tend to take care of flies and mosquitos.

My bedroom is on the lower level. I needed to do something to curb the very... prolific spider population. Yes, they do bite and I have sensitive skin, so I just don't to take the chance. I've woken up to several spider bites in the past. Not fun at all.

1) Call Civil Engineering and see if they have any problems with you taking care of them. The threat of an Airman using gasoline and matches should be more than enough to get them out there to take care of that.

2) If they actually say "sure, go for it," well, get out the gasoline and matches. Flood anthill, light match.*

Sir, I like the way you think.

i bought some ant spray and it didnt work.. :X

1) Clear all the shit out of your room as best you can
2) Ants have a scent-based memory trail from previous treks. Go over their usual avenues with bleach wipes or a mop with bleach. Shit like Windex isn't going to work.
3) Read Fellina's post about boric acid.
4) Place said acid where the ants typical destination is.
5) If there is a certain entry point, plug it securely.
6) Be patient.

Should actually find the point that they're coming in at. I had a problem in my room as well, but being in a basement didn't help. I found the area they were coming in through was the window panes. I swept up the area around the outside of the window and re-caulked...however there was a crack in the pavement. We spray, I cleaned and re-caulked the inside of the window and (touch wood) we haven't had the problem since.

If you are in a dorm, by all means go right to the officials. It's on them to ensure their students live in acceptable quarters.

Well, true, Sweden don't exactly have any.... biting spiders. There's only like 1 type of spider in Sweden capable of biting through the skin, and those spiders are rarely seen indoors. So none of our spiders are really poisonous nor dangerous to anyone, so I don't see a problem with them.

I remember one time I had ants in my room, which is upstairs. Had them in there for 3 weeks, and I couldn't figure out where they were coming from, but I noticed their path. Eventually, I got sick and tired of placing Raid traps and spraying it around my room that I watched an ant go by my window. I took a broom and knocked down one my curtain rods, and ants just started to spill out in all directions in my room. I even saw the fatass queen, which I promptly smooshed under my shoe.
