Anyone living in the Antelope Valley, or knows the area well?
Respond here or PM if you prefer that.

Thats in Lancaster I think....just a bit north of LA. Its around 3 hours from here in San Diego.

Yup, Lancaster, Palmdale, that neck of the non-existing woods.
I am looking for some general info on the area, cost of living, house rentals, that sort of thing.

I live in Torrance. Since we're talking about the Valley I am obligated to tell you that it's a horrible place and smells like cow poop.

Now that my obligation is over I will tell you my experience with it:
1. It's hot.
2. White trash live there and they don't get along well with the Mexican illegals in the area
3. It does smell like cow poop out there, from all the livestock farms.
4. Sometimes I have to pass through it to get to the mountains, I travel very quickly through that area.

Isn't also very dusty there too?

I only remember driving through Antelope Valley during after school hours once, and I saw kids walking through big fields of dust.

I think you guys are exaggerating. Palmdale looks rather nice, and not all that trashy with a median income of 42k or somewhere around there.

Itis a great place to send people you hate. I'd also recommend it for those who don't want relatives to visit.

Alright, stop scaring me, let's get real, it's can't be all that bad, we are talking Edwards AFB, the world famous Skunkworks, Boeing, etc.

Well why do you think big companies snatch up that land? It's not because of the great "in-demand" residential areas. Of course, the town I live in was made to house HP and NASA engineers, and it turned into a nice little area. But it wasn't full of cows before that.

It certainly isn't where I would choose to live, but there is alot of development going on in the counties nearby, so it may really be nice someday. However, right now it is a smelly cow town, at least from what I've seen of it. Developement in California only takes a vouple years to really take effect. Look to Salinas for a good example. It stilll has alot of farm land, but they have recently developed alot of the land in the area and the population has more than doubled.

sculli it sounds like you've lost already lol.

Nah, I am heading down there on the 12th to have a look at it myself. Will see how it goes.

Well, if you end up living there, you better stop by San Diego and look up Mr.Brin or I'll keeeel youz. XDDD

It's not set in stone yet, it's not even close to that. Just heading down to have a look to see what it's all about.

I lived in SoCal most of my life, and it was too dang crowded for me. >.> If you're thinking about moving down there, more power to you, but I don't really have anything positive to mention about the area. But that's just me. XD
