I've read a few testimonials about people having issues with the latest Cat drivers (6.4), although some people have been having this trouble since 6.2 and even now on 6.5 (beta?).

The most common issue is a very brief flicker. The specific details vary, but this guy most accurately portrays the issue I'm seeing:

Very random and thought it could be solved with drivers but my hope in that it would is diminishing.

Why? Because I saw it several times while in the BIOS and while Ghost was restoring an image - in DOS!

Sometimes it's a flicker - like a subliminal message kind of thing. Kinky.

Then other times for a brief period - split second - the text on the screen appears to be 600% larger and then goes back to normal. I have a 3007FPW and 24[05]FPW on this system. The other system has an Apple 30" display. That's an Intel system, the 3007FPW system is AMD based.

I know I posted on this recently, but the issue seems to be involving more than just X1900 users. Is anyone here experiencing this on any ATI card?

I also use an ATI card, but have not experienced that at all, instead my problem involves the game's brightness/Gamma settings, for some reason I can't adjust them at all in FFXI. Anything I adjust outside of the game is fine, I can see the difference immediatly, but when FFXI boots up, they go back to default and stay that way, no options affect the game at all. It's not much of an issue, but the game looks more bland than usual, atleast compared to my previous Nvidia card, which was weaker and out of date.

Yeah I have that problem too. I believe it's related to [insert TOS-violating 3rd-party program here] and it's hooks.

What kind of card you got Pup?

edit: of course, I do not use this so-called TOS violator. I have no idea why my game does what yours does, you hacker.

That's Windower's fault. Load FFXI the normal way and the gamma settings should work perfectly.

If you want to adjust gamma while using Windower, open the console and type "Gamma ##" - I like using around 60-70 myself.

Wow, I'm such a noob, thanks for the help, I don't really mess with windower, you know, with hearing all those stories and allakazham and such. Now it looks great again, thanks for the help!

BTW, I use a ATI Radeon 9600 in my PC, works fine, but I suffer lag in certain areas, my CPU is the problem though I believe, I got a AMD Athlon 1600 in here, I really need to upgrade...

I've never had lag or chop in FFXI even when I had my 9000. I also have a 9600.

I haven't updated my card's drivers in forever. Last time I tried it the drivers didn't work at all and I had to reinstall the old ones. I think it has something to do with my super hacked version of xp pro corp.
