Any Ballista-ing Whm's out there?

I recently(read: yesterday) got my License. Unfortunatly I wasn't able to participate in a normal one due to lack of people, so those of us that gathered for a match went and made a Diorama-<notevengoingtotrytospellit>-Ghelsba.
I started out just doing what I normally do in parties, healing, buffing, and what not.
Then me and my Red Mage buddy started doing 1vr1. (I lost a lot... ><;
However he left fairly soon, so I went back to having fun. Then I got asked to another 1vr1 by a whm that was at 73, I'm at 70. We fought 2.5 times (in the middle of the last fight our time ran out so it never finished we called it a draw.) but we split the fights I won once, then he won once.
Now after that long winded expalination, the point of the post. I need some advice, I'd like to continue this so I would like to know the opinion of other White Mages as to Equip and Sub job.
I went in as a 70whm/35blm.

Head: O.hat would be better for the +10acc if possible. The dex/agi is not so huge on whm.
Body: Nobles is fine, you'll probably need the potency and refresh.
Hands: Haste from Blessed, AF for WS
Legs: Blessed is fine, may be something better, not sure.
Feet: Same as legs.
Rings: Debateable, though I think +vit is a good choice.
Neck: I'd go with Promise Badge. +5mnd would help a lot with Stoneskin
Earings: definitely no idea here sorry, I'd probably go with Moldy (to land debuff) and perhaps Insomnia (resist sleep, +15hp/mp)
Waist: Lifebelt is fine
Back: Cheviot Cape (5% damage reduc)
Ranged: Bibiki Seashell (+4 vit)
Main: Try for a SeaWolf/Robber Cudgel or Purgatory Mace... but Darksteel is great.
Sub: Not sure, I said Genbu's but then read level x.x; whatever you have now is probably fine.

Sub Rdm, not Blm. Phalanx is crazy.

Just 100% personal opinion, I have not Ballista'd before but it's the same basis as soloing hard mobs so... that's the best advice I could hope to give.

If you have RDM or NIN sub, use it. As a 72WHM/RDM I killed a 75DRG/WAR by myself, with all defbuffs/Fast Cast/buffs. Granted it took a while, I won. /NIN if you go in at 74 is also wicked with Blessed Gear (cuz it has a lot +Haste, and you can Haste yourself). The Tariqah or Genbu's shield is great for /RDM, or dual wield Sea Robber/Purgatory/Darksteel/Morg (any combo is good) if you /NIN.

A WHM with Haste, attack food and gear, and spamming Hexa Strike is wicked. I've tired it XD, not to mention it's insanely fun.

WHM/RDM is crazy in ballista, especially with healer's earring. WHM/BRD works too, but not in 1 vs 1.

And Moldy won't help you land buffs Better off replacing it with something else ^^

I don't have Hexa as of yet (Club Skill 141) But I'm working on it. If any one is around that area and wants to Duo, or Skill up Party let me know.
I was thinking about Subing Pld. On my way home it sounded like a combination that would work on paper. Coupled with my Noble's I get a 2/tick refresh, Nice Def bonus, Sentinel, Shield Bash, and /some/ mp.
I'm still trying to finish off my Nin sub, as of yet it's only 33, but it's getting there.

If you're going to be on tomorow night or saturday night I'll probably start a skill up in kuftal, or wherever is best 130-200 or higher. I know I need to get raging rush and my friend is a 75 war that can tank that needs SC points. I'll look you up if we start one.

Get as much physical dmg- as you can and get ninja to 37. Get a jelly ring if you can. Utsusemi paired with all the -physical damage gear available to whm and stoneskin is pretty sweet.
