Anyone else notice this trend....

Ok i started off as a Thief....well really warrior but Thief is techinically my main. Well not anymore but gah! But i noticed a small little trend.

So first it was ninja. I was not tank capable and EVERY time i fought, i would immediatly charge behind the mob and sit squarely behind it. Occasionally the thief in the party would be trying to move me and id realize what i was doing. One person even jokingly pointed it out. So until 24 whenever i wasnt the main tank, id be right behind the beasty.

Now its ranger. Im only level 12 atm but last night in dunes i was tanking. And when i wasnt tanking i was squarely behind the mob. I thought it was hilarious when after i get all these jobs leveled, im going to be doing all this weird crap that makes now sense. The only reason i was tanking by the way was cause we had Rng, Rng, Drg, Sam, Blm, Whm in the party and i think i had the best gear and also some fishkabobs on me from ninja days. It worked very well though. Even at this low level, two rangers and a blm destroy.

You mean the trend for engaging monsters with their backs turned? Yes. lol I have an awful habbit of doing this... I feel very uneasy now that Im leveling BLM and not being able to control the flow of EXP directly through pulling. Instead, I have to conserve my barrage of elemental spells for the higher EXP chains. When leveling WAR recently, I'd always engage from behind the mob, hitting my Boost macro (which happens to be in the same place as my SA macro but on another line). I can't help it, THF is in my blood. I just want Warp right now for laziness' sake.

LOL i hear ya Rune. And yeah i was holding hate great. I used provoke of course after i decided i would tank and when i would hit with my arrows, was pumping off about 30-40 damage a shot. Only person who could hit harder was the blm. But alas i missed a LOT. Cant wait till 24 when i get my cool new gear....Martial slacks, Emperor Hairpin, and Nomad Mantle. Woohoo baby!!

LMFAO it was so funny watching Fae tank as a rng died a few times to get him out of a tight spot but it was worth it once we had figured out what we should and should not pull lol. all that death was so worth it i think.
