Anyone getting discouraged?

I don't know how much longer I'll be playing. GOA need to get their arses in gear. I'm sick of constant server side lag. Haven't been able to play without extreme server lag for 3 days now. Tracerts are showing a massive lag spike between London and Paris OpenTransit network, like DaoC......

I also can't help but to blame the players who grinded their way to 40 less than a month after the game is out and complaining that there is nothing to do. I don't think Mythic intended people to reach such high ranks so early on.

I haven't played this game just kind of reading through random topics. You would think the multiple lessons offered through the years speak loud and clear. There will always be people that grind to the end quickly. Not only that, but I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem that becomes more common as people become more familiar with MMO mechanics. New players can't grind because its hard to balance economy and player progression. Veterans know the system to a degree. Game manufacturers will have to get creative to overcome this.

Just a thought.

In WAR the level grinding was just.... stupid on the part of the people doing it though. They know that the endgame is built around large-scale PVP. They probably should also have guessed that the money-making options would be somewhat limited, given the general direction Mythic showed with the game throughout the leveling process (PQ loot bags are bind on pickup, most set pieces are bind on pickup in lower-level dungeons as well as the higher level ones, etc.)

There's an advantage to content if you were to level up really fast, but even then, you still had to wait for the first Tier 4 dungeons to even become accessible before you could attempt to clear the highest one.

The level blitzers in WAR basically found themselves with a fairly dead endgame: Keeps that they could maybe take, but probably not unless they joined a guild of similar people; Dungeons they couldn't access yet; and lots of grinding the one dungeon they could, limited by lockout timers.

I've heard very little in the way of good things about GOA. I get the feeling Mythic did not choose wisely in getting them to run the European side of the game...

Nope. They didn't learn from GOA's horrible running of DaoC it seems. I'm half tempted to try and somehow get a hold of a US copy.

I wanted to cancel my account but then Raes got mad :| So we're waiting until March to see if Mythic changes anything before we bounce.

I'm currently in a scenario, I see everyone including me move and lose health. Apparently I died 5 mins ago, shame I don't see it myself. This isn't an occasional thing with GOA and their crap servers and usage of OpenTransit.

Yeah, the worst thing we have right now is when Destro crashes the servers with their 500-man zergs at Fortress attempts.

It's been funny lately though. The only fort they can take now is Shining Way, even though they have the largest edge in numbers for any server, and most of the reason they can take that one is because the portal to it is broken, so any defenders have to run through the zerg to reach the fort.

We got an Altdorf attack but only because it happened at 3am when the server could cope. I called a GM on a German server because for some reason they don't lag at all and he said he can't help and I have to call one on an English server to get any help. Shame I can't get any appeals to even send due to the lag on English servers. 3 days of not being able to play on a server of my native language is bollocks.

And i thought the problem with WAR is the etiquette of people in the game especially the party system (maybe im too used to ffxi lol). Seems like people in WAR has tendency to BLIND invite and boot you without warning etc.

I got my WP to 40 then quit soon after that {Yawn}

FFXI does tend to spoil people as far as the playerbase goes, in my opinion. Say what you will about the rest of the game, for the most part, people here are considerably nicer, more polite, and generally more team-oriented than in any other MMO I've played.

WAR at least has a much better... community I guess, than WoW.

That's why i never play WoW :O

Monolith has actually gotten a lot better lately, it seems. Between a fairly major shift in Order alliances and a general malaise among a significant portion of the Destro population, our numbers in RVR are the closest they've been to even since the server transfers hit.

I suspect Destro still has a substantial overall numbers edge, but it's not freakin' suicide to go out anymore.

Same here, it just seems to be a matter of time of the day and which zerg gets there first. I don't know. If WAR's going to be all about the zerg my subscription will stay cancelled.
