I am considering being a whm again but I need to level my dear BLM sub for it and I aam not sure of a safe way to get it from 6-10 without dying 40000 times on the way,

If your goal is 10 I suggest getting into a duo with a fighter type..

Well, I noticed being in Duo's with a Voker really helps boost the XP Gain. Good Luck trying to find someone willing to do that though.

Get a staff, eat some mithkabobs, and go kill high EP's. Try to get as much +mp as possible, along with some +MND so your cures are a little more potent. If you have some gil, try some au Lait too.

You can cast some elemental spells occasionally to keep up with your skill, but meleeing is the way to go. Too much downtime if you cast spells all the time.

Just take it slowly and you'll never die.

I knwo the best way to level up any job 1-10 in less than a day.

Listen closly. Grab some pinable juice and have crap loads of mp + gear.

Level 1-3 level up right outside, yadadada.

Level 3-8 Level up in Zuren mines.

level 8-12- This is kinda of tricking but you can get a hang of it. Go to Konscat highlands at the area where Forger NM for SAM quest is, ( Exact oppoiste side of the Palg. Mines zone. ). Hunt your Rock eaters by using poision first, then just stick to casting water. If you have problems at level 8 stick to zurehen mines, and get level 9 then reutrn. ( worms are weak to dia, banish ( Light ), and aero @ lv9 ( wind ). This place is where i leveled every job from 8-12.

Compition might be small, Maybe like 1-2 people. But i always play at night 9pm - 5am and no one is ever here.

Good luck!

Sorry no edit, i meant the oppoiste side of Gugsen mines zone not palg. mines.... : :?

I would like to contradict Taruwaru in terms of his melee strategy....

The first job I ever had in ffxi was blm, and I can remember it being the most fun and easy job to get to 10 than any other job I had.

Instead, you should cast as many black magic spells (and white magic, since you will need to slap a bandaid every now and then) as you can to end the battle quickly. Black mages have terrible defense and HP, use that pool of MP and bring that mob to its knees before it does too much damage to you.

Now, I am a TaruTaru, so this may be a different case than yourself; an Elvaan. For you I would reccomend to combine my strategy and taruwaru....take advantage of your elvaan STR and BLM attributes by having a high DMG weapon and plenty of "punch n' pie."

One more thing, make sure you are in a safe spot when you rest, because surprises will kill you. I would actually suggest Sarutabaruta for less lag and more spread out mobs. Ronfaure you will run into a tree while lagging, and when the lag stops an orc is reading you a bed time story. Gustaburg.......well.....you do not want to be depressed as you level up do you?

That's my 2 cents.

3-8 in zehrun mines? That's gonna take a LOOOONG time. You should leave zehrun by 5 or 6. I actually don't even bother going there anymore. I level new characters in North Gustaberg from 1-10. At 10, you can go to the worms in Konschtat and get to 12 real quick.

I leveled BLM first too, and it was easier for me to do 1 spell and then melee the rest of the way. But I'd recommend trying both ways and doing what works best for you. The mobs you fight and your race do make a difference.

Bring some Au Lait for when you get into trouble, it makes a huge difference.

I died alot until I went back to good out Sarutabuta. Took a few stacks of pumpkin pie and went at it. Got to 8 pretty easily, but at 7 it got difficult to take a dc without throwing most my mp at it. Went into the northernwest tower of west saru, got on top of the platforms and let the destruction rain down upon the eps. Got pretty good xp until a thf farming starting one-shotting them... Think it took a couple of hours to get those last two levels. 1 spell, melee the rest, unless it's taking awhile.

You could hunt worms, or do what I've been doing with low level jobs, which is head on over to Ghelsba, log some wood, and kill the orcs and bats as they respawn.

I usually, once I get Bind, cast Bind(my enfeeble was high because of RDM) then nuke the hell out of it, then when Bind wears off, I melee, this is one DC's at like 8

Takes a bit to level ; ; that way, but it's safe...

Tough period...stick it out and you'll soon be living the high life...lol I took my blm from level 29 to 34 this weekend and had an awesome time. I would join up with a voker as someone else stated...then once you hit 10...off to the dunes with you!

What I did: sub MNK or WAR, use a dagger, melee food, selbina milk/au laits. Selbina milk is cheap and stackable, and the regen rate is actually useful at this level. Meleed through those first 10 levels or so pretty quickly (although I did complain a lot ). I didn't bother partying up with anyone till after 11 or so.

once you learn to Bind.. you're ok^^

You're right, although one thing that put a crimp into the Bind -> Nuketodeath strategy for me through these levels is that I'm Elvaan and have tiny MP (this is below 10 so can't wear Astral Rings etc yet), so I ended up with a lot of downtime. I'm impatient so in the end I'd just run around stabbing things :D

And now, a play:

Anesly's Solo Leveling of BLM (After Learning Bind):

Anesly: *casts Bind on mob*
Mob: What the!? I'm stuck!
Anesly: NUKENUKENUKENUKENUKE
*Bind wears off*
Mob: Haha! Now you die!
Anesly: AAAAH GET IT OFF ME!
*remembers she's carrying a weapon*
*stabs mob to death*

Find any place that has worms...and you can solo them by staying outside the spell range.

1) Find out the FARTHEST point you can cast from.
2) Cast your offensive spell
3) Back off immediately when it starts casting
4) As soon as you've backed out of range, move back into casting range
5) Repeat another spell, as when casting is interrupted, you can't cast for a few more seconds.
6) And just repeat this cycle.

It's kind of hard to perfect this cycle because you have to time it properly as to when to leave the AoE. However, I soloed Maze makers in the Maze at level 11 (just took a bloody hard time). I never touched the other side of the world, but i'm sure you could do some worm in La thiene, or even the Korrokola tunnel? (never been there).

Good people to party with for worms, Whms, RDMs, other Blms and rangers.

Whms and Rdms can heal you as well as cast feebing spells.

As for level 6-10 though. Binding and casting is probably your best best. I'd also recommend if you have the money to get orange juice and apple juice because at that level, one of those will pretty much fill a good chunk of your mp.

West Ron rabbits get there! I did rabbits till 7 or 8 then started to move onto gobs when I got water.
