Yea. first day of school. first class is my AP computer science class.

So far it rocks. "what iz intarweb? lolz"

30min of talking about stuffs. and then he lets us on the computers. lol this rocks. gogo surfing Qcdn t school alot. so if you see any random posts from me from now on. this is why.

For the most part AP Computer Science was a joke when I took it in high school.
 
At least this saves the tuition money to take a similar course in college. ;p

Remember to take the AP exam at the end of the year for the credit to count. Many people seem to forget that part.

lol nothing yet. our teacher got the book yesteday and he said he doesnt know like 1/2 of it. he said it'll all be a "group effort" to learn java.

I took the entire java book in 2 weeks, then I wrote together the end project, handed it in, got an A+.

The rest of the year I was just at home sleeping.
 
Our CS teacher was the digital graphics teacher and she knew nothing about java. It was the first year the class was offered and that's only because me a some friends did good in computer programing UIL. She handed us a "Complete Idiot's Guide to JAVA" and told us we were on our own, lol.

The CS teacher we had was in a similar situation. But that was back in the day when Pascal was being taught. She was learning along as we were, what a joke. If anything, try to program some easy system commands like copying files or try to use the email object to send messages. Writing silly programs like celsius converters are nice, but the real fun comes when you start messing with operating system environment objects. Opps, rambled again. >_<
 
lol. I must have been one of the last few ppl to take AP CS in C++. Java sucks personally. Too drawn out for something so simple to impliment.
 
i'd rather learn C++ or VB but they only teach java at mah school.

btw demon, rape your noob teacher....
 
I took VB and C++. Sadly didn't learn much. First year had problems with the teacher being admitted to the hospital for a long time and eventually passing away and us getting stuck with a teacher who didn't -know- VB. Second year in C++ i just ended up with a lazy teacher ;/

I start senior year tomorrow...kinda looking forward to it :)
 
You all should consider yourselves lucky. When I was in high school the best computer class i could take was one that only taught word, excel and IE and thats about it. Oh and one taught kinda sorta how to work on computers, but not much. Course I lived in a small town so there isn't much you can expect.

he also told us about C++ tho, said java's easier to use a bit more popular... so yea :X

maybe i'll learn something. if not i'll save my homework for this class. orz

oh lol. i was talking to my friend about getting me some ingreds from the guild there. and just as i was walking up to it, the guild closed >.>;
 
My high school didn't normally offer AP CS but me and 4 friends demanded it so they obliged. Since the teacher was friends with all of us and knew we were big geeks, he just let us watch anime and surf the net during class, rofl.
