Are Ipod's worth it?

I've been looking into buying an Ipod, or some sort of large mp3 player, I don't want one of those things that everyone has, so that's why I'm thinking about an Ipod... Does anyone have any advice, or experiances?
 
You say you dont want something everyone has....I see at leat 10 ipods everytime I leave the house...but I like my iPOD other than it's busted right now.
 
My brother had one, and his friend does. That's all i've ever seen of ipods here... Lol.... Well give me advice already.
 
Well, I think iPODs are great!
I love them =p
But if you want something that not everyone else has...look somewhere else.
 
I think they're great but not worth the money you pay for them.

You could buy a home theatre sound system for the amount you spend on them...
 
I have $1,200bucks buring in my pocket. And I need a new music sorce, and cell phone. So music first.
 
They're fun, i got the 20GB 3rd generation, imo, the prettiest one (yea, i said pretty, what of it?). The only negative aspect to iPods are that theyre made by Apple.....death to the apple!

I was leery of them at first, but I wanted to haul all my albums around with me, and didn't want to mess with 200+ cds in my car, so I bought one of these guys. I love it. Aside from a few oddities in the tagging and transferring process (all of which were easily fixed) I have had no difficulty with it. The cost is prohibitive, but overall I think it is a better product than the Creative nomad and the Rio karma, which I also played with. And plus, iTunes ain't that bad! Musicmatch is better for mp3 management, I think, but it's nice having software that incorporates the iPod seemlessly too.
 
I'm not sure if im goign to get the 20gig or the Ipod mini... Depending on what my brothers friend can get one for me for, I will probably go witht he 20 gig one. Then just take all my cd's and all my friends cd's and all of that and just put it on thre.
 
I own a 40 GB iPod, and I love it. Before this, I owned an MP3-CD player, a Rio 600, and 20 GB Rio Riot. The iPod wins. It's designed well and does the job. It's expensive as hell, but still very worth it.
 
I told Scizofrenic I was interested in getting one a few nights ago, and now he won't leave me alone about it. He says that if I stopped buying so many games, I could get one. But I like my games. :(

The mini's a waste of time and money. It's got the smaller form factor, but you're looking at 5 times more storage for one and half times the price. My g/f has a second gen 10 GB and I've got a third gen 20 GB. They're probably about the best devices for portable music you could possibly own. Plus, you can use them as a portable hard drive in a pinch. I hear the drives aren't the best quality in the world and shouldn't be used for data on a regular basis. For the purpose they're meant, though, they really begin to approach perfection.

Also, Apple is notoriously easy about academic discounts. That's usually 10% off.
 
I love my iPod, I got the new 20Gig 4th Gen, totally worth it. Even got a cool quote inscribed on the back =)

The sound quality is amazing and even really good out of the shipped standard headphones.
 
I don't really know how to tell what generation mine is, but I've only had it a month or so so I'm guessing the latest out there.
 
the style. 1st generation..well, ull know when u see it, heh. 2nd generation has four buttons with a turning wheel (i think), 3rd generation looks like 2nd generation, but its all touch-cell, 4rth generation has no buttons, its just a grey touch-cell wheel thats pressable. That and u can compare thicknesses, from thickest to thinnest.
 
Proud 20Gb 4th Gen iPod owner since 03/01/05 (that's the 3rd January 2005 for you yanks)
