have you notice that does not seem to be much demand in the market lately? Why is this? Are the largely growing gil seller driving people from the game or are people just quiting because school is just around the corner?

Which market? Weapons and armour? Consumibles?

Both of my jobs have basically everything I want at the moment. Maybe others are in the same boat.

So the only thing I'm buying are crafting supplies. I haven't noticed a dip in consumibles. And people still buy my marid hairs and wamoura silk.

so then it because there no new player base coming in?

It seems that prices are lower around this time of the year, and higher around winter.

I dunno if it has to do with RMT at the moment, but next time you are online do a /sea all 75. That'll probably give you a slight hint. Market is over-flooded, and many people are content sitting on gear that they have already, or have had a long time ago, and therefore need-not buy too many upgrades. Happens.

Lol what a worthless answer.

Seems most people are saying they have what they want.

<sarcasm>Sure took a whole lot of laziness to get everything I have, that's for sure.</sarcasm>

Yup the new gear that came out was really for those who couldn't afford SH Hauby and byrnie etc. Everyone has one or uses god gear or endgame gear, since most of the servers majority is 75 people.

i went to the auction house. looked for SOMETHING to buy for an hour. couldnt find a damn thing i wanted that wasnt 15mil or more.

Same boat as Neo here. Anything I want anymore is Rare/Ex.

I have the same problem, guess I shouldn't be complaining that I have nothing to buy... but still...

I've been just throwing money at leveling my low crafts. :P Funny thing is, it seems like I'm making more money than I'm losing.

Eh, to be honest.. the economy is better when more people are buying gil. >.< The reason for that is if the gil is not in circulation the economy suffers.

At least, so I noticed.. I was having a debate about the market just the other day and trying to figure out what was happening. I noticed more people are having a harder time making gil than they used to, myself included.

Not sure if most players are hording gil-- or just don't have it to spend. Almost everything acrossed the board is flooded down to the SH that hit a 3.8-4 mil low just over the weekend. I looked at the AH at one point and there was a total of 13 of them on the AH.. and then looked again and there was all of none on the AH and every one of them had sold. Not sure if there was just that much of a demand for it or if people are stock holding. Could be a combination of both, but I'm not too sure.

Also have reason to believe the expansion is part of the reason. Expansion made it to where it is much faster to gain exp and get to camp-- giving people more time and less need to use consumables. Also Assault made it to where many alchemy items became as common as rock salt. People have more time to farm, more time to do BC KS ENM, etc.. so if you have 100 claws on the market.. obviously unless you have stock holders, you're going to have a decrease in price-- and top that off, if people don't have the gil to buy an item at 5 mil you gotta sell it at 4 mil or its going to be returned to you via the delivery box which quickly starts to lose you money. ;/

Not you guys. But everyone else that whines about not being able to afford the high price tag items.

LoL, funny how people is...

They hate gilseller and gilbuyer, and we all want them to disappear, now ige price of gil is getting higher and higher almost everyday, and major gilseller is slowly getting ban by SE invesagation. Now we want gilseller to be back? O.O lol well, there is penty for you in Korr. Tunnel lol

Remember FFXI is like 4 years+ old now, it could be this MMO is slowly dieing? o.O

www.ffxiah.com show a lot of the server only have like 15k-17k population in each server i don't know is that accurate tho or they only showed how many player transaction on Jeuno's AH but anyway, i like it this way :P

The problem is a majority of the server population is already 75 and the armor selections are not improving nor will they ever. Occasionally, an armor piece will be added that is slightly less superior to previous pieces or at least serves an occasional use, but never anything that is the new best thing. The reason is if SE releases new armors or weapons that are superior to older pieces, it diminishes the previous accomplishments of all players and HNM shells that worked to obtain them. If SE makes something obsolete, it also makes the method to obtain it obsolete. SE adds a body armor that makes god armor look antiquated, no one is going to do sky any more. Instead they will focus on getting that new armor and sky which took a lot of work and effort both by the designers and the players, will be wasted. They don't want you to leave sky, it's a time sink that keeps you coming back (read: paying). What they do want is for the player base to go to sky and then try the new time sink for something different.

And that's the problem. Now that a majority of people are already 75, they have the time to obtain all the gear they want and since there really only is one set of pivotal gear for most jobs(or at least in the mind of the player), they can work to get that and be done with future purchases. The only exceptions to this are the very rare armors that are both difficult and rare to obtain. Things like the errant cape or a thief's knife which only a few people have ever recieved are probably one of the few items that will sell fairly rapidly, but even then when most people are having trouble selling their own items, it might be difficult to find someone with sufficient funds to purchase.

It's not really how it seems as far as gil sellers are concerned. To be honest, I really don't understand how some gil sellers still exist (other than parasites are hellish to kill). Now, I personally despise gil sellers with a passion, but I don't blame them for the current price decreases (not that I see it as a huge problem). The AH has become stagnate with items that are just too abundant.

At this point in time, I really wonder how such items like an O.Kote or a SH are still so expensive. You would think in the amount of time the game has been around, that the game would have amassed enough supply of both items to fulfull the demand for everyone or at least make it to the point where the supply is greater than the demand to make people lower the price. You have to realize that at least 1 O.Kote is introduced into the system each day and the NM has been around for 3 years or more. Now thats roughly 1k O.Kotes in existance, but not everyone wants or needs one. Only three jobs can equip it and those jobs have multiple options for that particular armor slot (Horomusha Kote, various gigas bracelets, AFs, relics, Bandomusha Kote, Noritsune Kote, etc). V.Claws have several different methods to be obtained and with a majority of the server at level 75, can readily obtain it through a KS30 fight. At some point, the server community will be satiated with goods and although the Xbox 360 group is still just getting started, the older group has what they need and is still introducing new items into the system every day.
