-.-; I don't see how not crafting makes me any less "accomplished".
I don't enjoy crafting. It isn't why I play this game. It could help me, sure, if I did craft, but I don't personally care for that part of the game or any game for that matter. Crafting just isnt appealing to me, atleast not the way its set up in this game.
Originally (like when the game was first released in the States, Oct, '03) I thought id take up smithing, since I thought it would be a cool idea to make weapons. Yet without a guide of any kind its practically pointless to craft as unfortunatly you can't just put this and this and this together and just get something without following some kind of recipe.
Second point, I dont have a printer or else I'd probably print out a good guide and start crafting ..something, maybe.
I have played several jobs, granted not a lot compared to some of the other NA players that started at the launch of FFXI like me. I dunno, I like leveling for some strange reason. I enjoy meeting new players via the random parties I almost always join. I've met a number of players a loooong time ago and it's unfortunate they've leveled way past me. But I still remember having a good time meeting them and partying with them. Players like Zhi, Reality, Prophecy.. met them all long ago when we were back in the dunes, as well as many others that most likely have since quit playing. But I very much enjoy playing with a variety of other players, rather than always just one group. Granted, there are some players I wish I could party with more often than just one or two times. I just dont often get the chance, because eventually they level past me or I level past them. Yet, the experience was always enjoyable none the less. It's easily said that one can remember the good parties, and perhaps under strange circumstances even the bad ones.
I know, Deci, you probably didn't mean to offend me with that comment, but it did strike a nerve. Perhaps me having an aggrivating day at work isn't helping the situation either.
I consider myself "accomplished" if you want to call it that. I have done a lot in this game so far, met a lot of good people, and look foward to doing even more, via missions and quests and leveling. I do have Hero fame in San D'Oria, so I guess that means something. Crafting is just one aspect of the gameplay I'm not all that excited about. It's cool, that others seem to enjoy it. As well, without those who do craft there wouldn't be a lot of the good items I like to use.
Anywho.. sorry to go off on a rant, but.. you just pushed a button there I suppose.
