Aren't Quicksand parties supposed to be better?

Just got Rank 5 today (hooray to the group I stumbled on in Ostroja!) and was walking around from port to port, checking out the airships, when I get an invite to a Quicksand Caves party. Seemed like a nice change from the Nest, so I agree. PT makeup is:

SMN/WHM (Our intrepid Hero)
THF/NIN
SAM/WAR
BLM/? (/anon, I'm guessing /SMN)
PLD/WAR
RDM/THF (Yes, THF. Didn't realize it until AFTER we'd made it to the Caves.)

Anyway, we get there, food, buffs, etc. Realize I'll have to be main healer. Not my favorite thing, but whatcha gonna do? Then Oracant (our PLD) starts in (all quotes are direct as I transcribe them from my PS2):

Now, I'm all for information - but if you're going to treat me like a fucking child, we can just part ways right now. I was willing to live with it, but then Aedin (the RDM) chimes in:

Aedin: I'll Refresh when I damn well please lol
Oracant: speaking of which
Oracant: i need refresh
Oracant: and regen
Aedin: You don't need Refresh lol (Commentary: WTF. Of course the PLD needs it.)
Oracant: yup
Oracant: yes I do!
Oracant: if u want the mob to stay off your ass y'll give me refresh
Oracant: u'll*
----Sand Spider fight begins----
Oracant: refwesh me!
Oracant: refwesh me!
----60 seconds pass. I Regen the PLD. RDM still has not Refreshed. RDM HAS cast Enwater, though.----
Oracant: REFWESH ME!
----20 seconds later, Refresh is finally cast.----
Near the end of the fight, RDM casts Enblizzard. Leader pipes in.
Marajade (THF/NIN): aed, no melee
Aedin: Why?
Marajade: We don't have a WHM
Aedin: No spiders Mara
Aedin: Beetles...
Marajade: so you need to be able to cure more eficiently
Aedin: B-e-e-t-l-e-s
Marajade: you dont do damage anyways

Now, I'm cool with Mara. She's trying to get the pt working better. I send her a tell thanking her, and the RDM is apparently 'too used to having a WHM in the pt.' Whatever. Moving on.

Aedin: Beetles mara...
Marajade: aed, no melee
Aedin: Mara beetles
Oracant: (Regen <Call> from above.) I'm at ~70% MP, as is the RDM.
Marajade: there arent any (beetles) foo
Aedin: Spiders too evil
Oracant: don't make me spam it!
Oracant: lol
Aedin: Healing quiet
Cubswoo: Mp {Healing!} {Please check it.} (Yup, I'm a smartass.)
Oracant: u got 600something MP! (True. But my max is 848.)
Aedin: I might as well melee
Aedin: Till my kabob goes out (This is where I got pissed. RDM eating a kabob? There's a right way to be a melee RDM, and a wrong way. Guess what way this is?)
Darkdominion (BLM): Should I enfeeble?
Aedin: I'm enfeebling
Aedin: That's what I'm here for
(At this point, I check the pt list to see if the RDM can do any of the BLM exclusive enfeebs. RDM/THF. WTF. Apparently she was farming and didn't change her sub.)

Oracant: (Regen <call> #2)
Oracant: (Regen <call #3, as I'm casting Regen.)
Oracant: HA HA Hit me now!!! (His Flash macro. This misfired countless times during this fight.)
Oracant: (Poison <call> macro.)
Oracant: (Refresh <call> macro.)
Oracant: REFRESH ME!
----10 seconds later----
Aedin: Refresh on Oracant
Oracant: THANK U
Aedin: I'm a highly aggitated RDM so DONT YELL
Oracant: plz Refresh when i ask for it
Oracant: it's helps me keep the monster off your alrdy agitated ass
---Spider fight over, Mara has obviously told Aedin he's brought the wrong sub.---
Aedin: I gotta go change my sub
Aedin: Didn't realize I was /THF. (Real perceptive.)
I start a /tell convo with Mara about how pissed I am with the pt. And in comes...
Aedin: I need a beer
Aedin Or a joint
Ok. This is where I draw the line. If this were a player I trusted, or someone I really thought could handle themselves fucked up, I wouldn't mind. But you've already fucked up enough sober. You think that'll make you BETTER?!
Marajade: aed, change sub, get back, then maybe beer/pot
Marajade: and you are already not quite normal, so I would recomend against it (AMEN!)
Aedin: lol shut up spider puller
(That's it. I ask the BLM for a D2.)
Cubswoo: Guys, sorry, but I don't think this is going to work out.
Aedin: Yes it will
Oracant: just hold on to yo taru pants
Cubswoo: If it does, it won't be with me.
Cubswoo: Dark, D2 me home.
Darkdominion: now, your sure now?
Oracant: dark don't do it! (WTF #X. If I want to go home, I'm going home. Even without the D2, I would have warped. But to tell the BLM not to? Insane.)
Cubswoo: I was sure when I saw the fifth Refresh <call>

It's one extreme or the other. Either I'm with 5 total fuckwits or a couple of control freaks.

Oh well, Seek flag up, the next /invite is the next /invite. Anyone need a SMN? ^^

Quicksand PTs 'were' better...until a certain company released a certain game a an audience mostly of underage kids who think this plays like a FPS game (granted, I've met MANY!! an awesome ps2 player, but you have to admit a majority is...poor).

So painful to lv my war and thf now as well =/

But I have to commend you on actually leaving. I'd probably still be in because I can't just say I'm leaving

I guess the only thing you can do is play through it, hope for good pts and hope they all quit at 50 when G1 rolls around, along with AF quests

yeah, that was a fucked up party.

We ended up booting Oracent, AFTER getting him killed, and raised, and then haveing Dark D2 him home. I pulled an antican, and *forgot* to mention my Utsusemi had absorbed a Tornado. So we continue, its silenced so everything is semi ok, and then poof, its gone. Silence got resisted, and he quaked the PLD for 1200 or somthing. it was close to dead so Asia hit the 2HR and brought it to the ground.

Oh, and the BLM was /WHM. and it wasnt his character, it was his brothers. we pressed him into partying because the real person was away from the weekend. and all things considered, he did an OK job playing an unfamiliar character.

Oracant has lead me and the rest of my garliege citidale pt to there deaths in the past and I wouldnt doubt that he was being a retard in this event either. I know Aedin and Marajade they are good people well not sure about Aedin these days havent seen him around in a long time.... but back on subject Oracant is full of himself he he too us up to the banishing gate in GC and then told me and the war not to take it off him because he was the all mighty "tank" and then told the whm not to heal him till he had hate down. well little did he know he was fucked and got him and the rest of us killed. and then he proceeded to call us noobs because we listened to him and did as he said and then left the pt. thats my experience with him. I would of just dedicated this post to flaming him... tho aedin as a rdm/thf ><! thats great gonna have to poke at him about it when I see him.

Please, please, please, please, please dont generalize players on either platform as good or bad... what matters is the player, not the thing they play the game on people.

That being said, sorry that party was so f'ed up cubs... often times theres just no explanation for how some people get by in this game.

I didnt actualy invite him. We always party together. he just forgot to change subjob before we lef lol.

lol, I can attest to that. RDM/THF is not his normal sub, Aedin is usually RDM/WHM. I haven't actually been in an XP party with this group, but I am in their linkshell, and have done multiple successful BCNM's with them. Coincidentally, Aedin has always been the one in charge of keeping me alive, lol. (Me = Bard)

Definitely sounds like they were having an off night, though Aedin's drinking wouldn't have improved matters for sure, heh.
