Around the world in 20 Crabs, the journey of a retard

Also...who gets to say the beaches are for surfing..I may think they're for sunbathing..someone else for rock collecting etc.

You better do what they say. People who've "done it all" know a lot better than you and I Kiere.

Yea, its not a right, its a privilege to go to hawaii. You can't just go there if you're a bum on the streetcorner, you need some sort of credibility and cash.

Similar here, you earn the right to appear there by being in a ls with a legit chance to beat it.

You guys are stretching so much you're proving my points for me. There's certain places for certain players in this game. Call me elitist if you will, but King camps are not the place for attitudes like have been exhibited in this thread.

Remember ALL my posts about improving your gear, taking the best steps possible while leveling, and using this as a learning curve for endgame. This is why. People who bypass these steps and go for quick fixes on the way to 75 (aka gimping it out) will only have the opportunity to go crowd up someone else's DA. If you wanted to be there, you could have taken a much different path in your overall game.

Unfortunately, the game is much more forgiving then I am. People can decide to drop the noobish childish attitude and actually get semi-decent gear, pay attention in parties, and get invited to a shell that can take a king. THEN you can take all the pics you want, sunbathe inbetween windows at aspid, or get rich off of lightning clusters inbetween spawns at behemoth.

Are we still talking about ffxi? This analogy is really silly and flawed.

You may not have the privelage to go to Hawaii, but you sure as hell have the right to be *in* hawaii, unless they have that whole "Hawaii reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime" sign up. Which is why that ruins your whole point.

I don't have to spend $500 on a plane ticket to go to DA/BD or anything like that. There are certain places for certain players. Melees don't go to the pudding camp and start killing shit. Blms don't go to Nyzul Isle and mess with TP burns. Just because a NM spawns somewhere doesn't give you free reign to decide who can/can't show up. I'd like it that way sometimes, being able to ban every other LS but my own from an HNM scene would be pretty awesome. It just isn't realistic, much like your whole friend brings a friend brings a friend idea.

I posted more than one sentence...you guys are so eager to disagree with me you don't even read what I'm saying. I've already refuted everything you said in prior posts. Stop trying to be the one to prove jamal wrong and just fucking read what I have to say and learn something.

Now, this is why I know more about this then you (meaning the disagreers):

1. I began playing on ps2. Most of my HNM career was using this.

2. Towards the end of my HNM days I moved, and picked up a copy of the game for pc. My pc was an old piece of shit.

3. Recently, I've begun playing on a brand new pc. Top of the line.

The only system I haven't attempted use on is a 360. I'd assume they'd fall inbetween ps2 and pc.

Graphics on all systems are always down (meaning I lower my effects and settings) for crowded events. With each system, you find a threshold of number of people in an area where lag begins. With each additional addition of either mobs after hitting said threshold, you will begin to feel slight lag, especially in macro palletting and menus.

EVERY hnm ls has different people on different systems. By overcrowding a zone needlessly for photography class, you're adding to an already existant lag that does not need to be there. Note, I am not saying 1 person causes lag. 1 person can be the person to hit a threshold, or jump up a lvl in the amount of lag in said environment.

Claiming wise: PS2's graphics systems are effected the most by jampacking people into a zone. Why? With menu options being slowed your tabs also become slower between mobs. PC users that have used .dat mods can avoid this (which I disagree with, but it happens) so that only Fafnir appears. This is why you can see so many pc claims in overcrowded zones, whereas ps2 can claim so well when the zones are ~relatively~ lag free.

But first and foremost. Its about respect. Don't go to a zone you know 120 people are there waiting for an item they may have been waiting years for. If you want to be in the zone, do it the proper way, level yourself up and go with a ls there.

With all due respect. I'll go where I want when I want. You have no more rights in this game than anyone else. That being said. I don't go out of my way to screw up game play for anyone. I don't want to join an HNM shell. I like being in charge of my own time. But if there is something/somewhere I want to see. I'm going to go see it.

I'm not trying to "prove the almighty Jamal" wrong. I'm saying its not realistic. Which it isn't. I responded to your one sentance, beacuse that one sentance was what carried most of the weight of your point. That one sentance was aslo stupid as hell.

Most of my HNM career was on PS2 too. I've claimed a Nid. I've claimed a KA. Never did get the chance to claim aspid/behe though. I was never really on for those.

1 person *could* hit the threshould. Sure. I'll give you that. When you have 120 people in a zone spamming a macro. One more, two more, or three more people in that zone aren't going to make your chances of claiming go to 0 like you're suggesting.

I'm agreeing with you, just not to the extent that you are going to.

It's not about your rights to go where you want, it's having respect for other people. Respect the fact that these people are already struggling with lag from the amount of people who are already there and after the same items as them. I don't see why you would really need to see kings anyway. The thrill isn't seeing them, it's claiming and getting drops that gives people pleasure. You'd be creating that much more lag and stress on the people there by getting your excitement of just "seeing" something pop.

It's your opinion that thed thrill isn't seeing them and I respect that. However, to me it IS a thrill.

I agree that you have a legitmate point Jamal, though not very convincing.

A. Players that are only their to take pics and not to claim should not be in a King zone since that impedes other potential claimants from getting their mark i.e. King through lag.

B. Players that want to be in a King zone should be in a legitimate HNM ls.

From reading your posts about this issue this is what I have gathered and down the length of the thread you have provided valid points. Now with these two major points it still does not carry enough weight to say who or who cannot be in a King zone. I have camped King Behemoth and Nidhogg before, and I understand the extent of various ls's being in attendance to potentially claim the King for their own, and the subsequent amount of lag due to X amount of players in a zone.

With the point you brought up that not only 1 person may tip the scales, but that also they may bring their friends and these friends bring their friends etc. sounds plausible but not realisitic.

I sincerely doubt that a ls that says it lost the claim to a King pop due to lag is a rather poor excuse. If I was in a HNM shell (I am not currently due to RL schedule) and someone use lag as the excuse I would immediately roll my eyes. Furthermore, it would reflect the maturity of a ls member/ leader to even imply that lag was a possible candidate to the lost claim. Lag happens and to say who can or cannot be there would only fall on deaf ears.

Another viewpoint that would make a person there for pics legitimate, could just as easily say that they are there for ToD. Even though some previous posters in this thread may have not said it but in their back of their minds they won 2 things for their "intrusion"

1. Pics for w/e the hell they want them for lol
2. ToD of a King/ HNM

Also to note I am not trying to further the argument since it has been dead for a very long time and the persistence of it is rather comical. I just wanted to put my perspective into this. Thanks.

How did this go from a talking about stupid people holding pop mobs to talking about whether or not people have rights to be in w/e zone. Frankly that's a stupid topic that will be debated back and forth forever.

But heres the real thing. People who first want to see a King will want to take a pic, after that there is no fun in it. They will end up joining a a HNM ls if they want to see it anymore times after that for the reasons for Lyrai said.

Now, can we please go back to laughing at people needing 11 people to kill a NM?

The magic of the Derail™

I don't know why people are still surprised by derails, they happen in every topic. This one's not worth arguing though. The people with the "it's my $12.95" attitude will do what they want regardless of possible negative effects it could have and the people trying to get shit done will still complain about people getting in their way. It's a stalemate and either side could be argued convincingly as "the right side". Best thing to do is just minimize your graphic settings to minimize your lag and politely asking in say for people to please back up if it's still bad.

11 people who took 10 minutes to kill it, when 3 people killed it the next day in the same amount of time.

Thanks!

Vang hasn't shown up to gloat about a V.Belt and somehow show that it makes him better than everyone else by having one, so I can assume he didn't get one.

Velocious Belts are totally badass, it's like a Swift Belt that uses two Blitz Rings for clasps! Of course you're all doing it wrong though, you're supposed to get a Maat's Cap then buy the belt from RMT. Get with the times.

Curses, i've been doing it all wrong!
