Who else is at work, not working?

Shame I'm a contractor and don't get paid to post.

Well right now I'm proof reading through a 1244 line excel document (collums A through S are used) and assigning values for the Occurance, Severity, and our Detection rate for all 1244 potential faults.

FMEA's SUCK!!!

To top it all off I haven't played FFXI in over a month and a half....

Waiting on 4:30 to arrive.

Present. Where's my COP bishes?!?!

I am surprised you guys are not using a real database for this.

I am at work, and I actually like what I do 98% of the time, it's like a "Thank God it's Monday!"-feeling, when you can't wait for the weekend to be over to get back to work, sometimes I go in on the weekends as well, and sometimes I bitch about it, but overall I am quite happy with my work, which is bad, because I tend to spend more time on it than I get paid to do.

<- at work.

On a related note, anyone know where I might find documentation for System 1032 (VMS database)? Not having any luck so far.

Well it more has to do with using something that everyone is "comfortable" with. I've been sent to so many different classes to learn more effiecient techniques but then nobody wants me to use them because the majority of people who need to access the information aren't comfortable using anything but excel...

Even Access scares people once you start talking Queries and relationships.

Hehe. There's a suggestion that never gets old. Use a DB instead. It is a comfort level. SQL scares people. Instead of writing an App that just queries a DB, the App does a scan on Excel, for ease of use for the client that does not need to know how to use DB. Classic Business vs. Technology Dept. Also depending on the size of the information involved, maintenance of that DB increases that overhead. I personally like using DBs, but maintaining them is another thing.
