Auction House (slightly) Broken

If the user says Non-negotiable, then any posts discussing price will be deleted via the report post button. However, if the OP doesn't list guidelines - we could just leave it alone. I dunno, any ideas people?

that's not a bad idea, but who's to say how many "non-negotiable"s would end up on the AH board?

perhaps couple that with a no-edit policy (to prevent someone from going "BS it's non-negotiable"), along with some kinda policing to make sure "negotiable" price haggling doesn't get out of hand or threadcrapped?

Negotiating prices would be acceptable. In cases of "non negotiable" posts, someone'd be an idiot to try and negotiate. If a deal wants to be made however, that can be done in the thread. What I'm really talking about is the stupid ass threadcraps that use to take place and hence resulted in the system now. Shit like "You know that's not how much that is rite......" or "wtf why sell it for that much", or even a while back when Is old a juggernaut for 40 million "wtf juggernaut for 40 mil on a 100% drop? WTF?!"

That kind of stuff doesn't need to appear in a thread. If someone is going to post and lists a price, then they obviously want that price. If they allow negotiations, fine, but the thread craps need to stay out.

or even a while back when Is old a juggernaut for 40 million "wtf juggernaut for 40 mil on a 100% drop? WTF?!"

lol i remember that thread. but yeah, i agree with what mistra's saying here.

Sorting by date of creation would just have people recreate their topic every day or two. You could always have that forum have moderator approved posts only and then just have the mods use common sense on whether or not to allow the reply. It's slower, but it's better than no replies. I think. Maybe not. Edit: If that was the case a user should be able to post replies in their own topic w/o mod approval I mean. To bump and the like.

Moderation rules are applied per-forum, so we couldn't allow users to bypass post approval if responding to their own threads.

Too used to having an awesomely hand-coded message board where I can do whatever I want to do, lol. Anyway, any possible way to allow people to post without doing something stupid would be cool. If it's too much of a hassle the current system is fine.

Well, keeping in mind I know roughly 1% of vBulletin's operations, let me rephrase that: I couldn't allow users to bypass post approval if responding to their own threads.

Big Red may be able to state otherwise and I'll do more poking around.

I can look into that but its not something that would get used very often I think.

He set up auto-notify to all forum members. :o
