Ok listen to either recordings (both the same, different quality of sound). This was all brought about by this;

This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and
parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing
homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their
children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those
children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete
enough school work to pass their classes.

Being that my dad is a retired teacher and hearing about parents that would come in and threaten him because their child did no school work and was made to repeat a grade... I think this is awesome. You don't do the work, you don't pass. Don't blame the teachers you stupid ignorant parents, blame yourselves for not raising your children properly.

That's fantastic.

It's sad how much of my Parent/Teacher Interaction course revolved around things you might have to do to either placate or limit the potential damage of irate, ignorant parents.

It's great to see people not afraid of the implecations of an action such as this, and I couldn't agree with it more. Too many times people would wish to carry out such actions, but be afraid of the reaction from superiors and the like. Having children means responsibility for what they do and don't do in school, as well as out.

So what about the parents who have to actually excuse their children from school for things like the dentist, doctor, a funeral, etc >_>

I love this.

They forewarn the school and send a written letter of apology afterwards. Simple solution.

Some of these children missed as many as 30 days of school, I doubt that (unless they have the worlds worst luck) this was the case for all missed days.

I just mean, it's an automative voice message..so no matter who calls for whatever reason, is going to get that. What number are parents supposed to call if they actually do have a legit reason for calling, such as "Tommy's grandmother died" or "Tommy is getting beaten up every day after school"?

Seems to me they only have one number for everything. I think schools would rather have parents call in for legit abscences than notes, because a note can be faked. Hell, I had my step dad write me fake notes so I could get out of math class a couple of times ( I never skipped 30).

Obviously there's a problem with extended abscences, but it seems like they're assuming all parents are terrible and not just punishing the dead beat parents.

None of us really know what the situation is in this matter really. I have read numerous articles that the teachers at this school were being bullied relentlessly by parents whos kids had failed and that they were fed up. The parents were calling in leaving threats and rants so they changed the greeting to be more of a "fuck off". I think it's funny >.>

They probably still took messages but only after their main point got across.

I loved that answering machine, should make one for work.
