How well does Auto Translator really work. I’ve often heard the rumor that {reward} translates to {pet food}. Which made me wonder last night with our JP tank, how much of us stringing auto translations together actually translate correctly.

Last night I used {Party Disbanding} {Sleep} {Incredible tough}, how do we know if that really didn’t translate to something silly like {Gathering termination} {slumber} {unbelievable dangerous}.

Yeah, the "reward" word that you're translating is not the form of giving someone something as a present, but the translation of the beastmaster's reward command. You'll notice that every JA in the game is translatable. I'm pretty sure we've used this particular JA out of context for so long that the meaning is universally understood by now.

There are likely countless other commands we translate on a daily basis that garner the biggest :shock: 's from our friends across the ocean.

I read Reward, in the japanese language means to Pitty. So if we shout:

Teleport-Holla Please Invite Me. Reward 1000gil

Its saying tele me there invite me and pitty me for 1000 gil...

And when people use "Help Me Out!" that to a JP Translates into "I'm Going to die!" its used for when your getting chased by i big ass monster.

So before you go to jeuno asking for a tele dont use

"Teleport.. w/e" "Can I Have It?" "Reward" 500gil "Please" "Help Me Out!"

Because they see it as...

"Teleport.. w/e" "Can I Have It?" "Feed Your Pet" 500gil "Please" "I'm Going To Die!"

The auto translator is cool but im always havin probs with certain word. The <taru: foot card> only seems to work when it feels like it and also why in the hell is coffer not in the autotranslator. They also need to put some form of the word <coming> or <on the way> in there to so we can explain the the whm is coming. Over all im happy with it its just missing some words that could be really helpful

Items only show up in the auto translator after you bring it up all ready.

Hit your tab key to bring up the menu, escape out of it, hit it again, then press whatever you use to move up in menus and you'll see (items) and (key items) at the bottom of the list.

well I can tell you that the word "back" translates to the back of person's body, not "I'm back".

Few other ones I've noticed from using the JP version but I'm too tired to think of them right now. Plus it is really hard to understand some of the translations with the limited japanese I know :p

1. I think ATF translates into the SAME DAMN THING, or else it would be a VERY SHITTY translation now wouldn't it.

2. I've seen JP's use Help me out, and reward in there shouts also. So seriously, stop this BS rumor.

3. If you want to find help for Coffer runs, and can't get coffer in the ATF, then go to your nearest AH, and go to furnishings, shure enough, check out the coffer. Now type in "item" Press tab key, enter, type c, and you should find "Coffer" now in ATF.

JFYI

No, Krono, they use it because they know. Leave, Fight, Reward, all of those are BST job abilities. I've always noticed the Back was Equipment area, so I use the (|I'm back!|) macro.

I'd love to have an aggro auto-translation, and link, too. We have train, don't we? And I've yet to see a train in the game. When you use (|limit|) (|Break|), I've yet to figure out what JPs see.

But, all in all, it's a pretty good ATF, but there are some key things that would make it much more useful, because it's oft times that I find myself talking to no one because I can't figure out a logical way to say something.

Yeah it doesnt translate exactly....but by now most jps know what it means. I've even seen them use {reward} so its all good :P

Need coffer key help?

{Warrior} {artifact} {key} {Zeruhn Mines}

The same can be used for help finding the coffer:

{Warrior} {artifact} {box} {Zeruhn Mines}
