AV defeated. Official Video

The AV thread isn't a pissing contest. Shut up and let's focus on ways to kill AV. Everyone knows his 2hr's are the problem. If we can't deal with them, we can't kill AV.

If by using certain 2hours after he uses one, negates the one he uses and prevents him from following up with another for the combo is what they're trying to tell us... well... doesn't really solve anything.
Because that first one could still be say Mijin Gakure, and there wont be anyone to use a 2hour to "prevent" it...

That's what I responded to. The fact that 'nothing matters, if the first one is Mijin', which it couldn't be anyway.

Which he said after my post.
wtf are you, anyway? It is actualyl extremely ironic that you say "Don't act it like a know-it-all" just yet, even though you do the very same thing yourself. And you don't even seem to understand exactly what it is he was asking.

Besides;
They're not zooming in on the fucking barspell, they're focusing on the day change, and the casting of a new elemental spell (Blizzard -> Thunder).

And no, it's not a 8 hour fight, or a few fights flicked together. SE just didn't put them in the 'right' order, so they could show the hints seperately.
The whole fight took about 2-3 hours, as far as it's shown.
This is you acting as a know-it-all again. Now, I am no expert on Vana'Diel day order. However, I can guarantee you 100% that what you wrote in the quoted post is 100% bullshit.

The days shown in the videos they released are: Water, Lightning, Wind and Ice.

Now, Jailer of love died on Windsday. During the AV fight, the times shown are Watersday, Lightningsday and Iceday. As I said, I'm no expert (the day order is Firesday > Earthsday > Watersday > Windsday >Iceday >Lightnintgsday > Lightsday > Darksday), but I am sure that means, at the very least, it was a 4-hour fight, assuming they STARTED on watersday. However, as stated, Jailer of Love died on Windsday. This naturally creates a few problems, as Watersday is before Windsday. So assuming AV popped on Windsday, and AV died on Watersday, that's a 7-hour fight. Not a 2-3 at the most, that Mr. Don't-Know-It-All-Nakato claimed.

edit: ok, fine. J'lo died on Iceday. He were being fought on Windsday.

I was thinking about some stuff and some it of seems pretty plausible. What if we're just meant to kill him with Magic? I know it's a long shot but really, can't be any worse than the other ideas out there. Have a few tanks hold him while Blms slowly nuke him down. I'm still trying to figure out the importance of the 2hr spam as I'm sure there is a reason for it but like I keep reading on Bg. AV seems to retaliate to certain actions.

My theory isn't 100% yet cause we'd still have the problem of his 2hrs but it could be a step in the right direction.

The RDMs...
are meleeing with staff...
/NIN...
In other news, I don't see the difference between the english and japanese videos. Looks to me that they're just taken from different angles.

It was a JP button joke =(

And there are actually small differences, besides angle :P

Different times
different 2-hours used to zoom in on

the German bottaru actually have 3 messages <.<; Why do the dev-team need to send eachother messages through PlayOnline? lol >.> Looks like it was either a dev's real character, or a randomly picked up person to film the event <.<;

the latest theory BG has posted is showing that AV may have a primitive attempt at an AI attached to it.
Basically AV reacts to everything you do. JA in general make AV react by pushing him closer and closer to one of the painful 2 hours. nuking in the wrong element triggers a 2 hour.(this includes enspells from the elestaves).
Essentially you have to nuke with the proper element to wear it down without activating the meanest 2 hours.
Everyone using their 2 hour when AV did was merely because they could get away with using them when AV was busy using a 2 hour without actually triggering anything worse.

Side note about the GMs: from what I recall the accounts they GM under are their own game accounts. I'd suspect that when they sign in as a GM instead of as a player, it adds the prefix to their name on outbound messages, it replaces the LS icon with the GM icon, then sets them as a lv1 war with GM equips.

[GM]Chigrrrl made me break one of my linkshells. Someone later posted or PM'd or something that they knew Chigrrrl, she played as a THF or RNG or some god damn thing. Not to say they earned the pimped gear you see in the video - probably hacked it in just to mimic endgame status - but messages they get may be from personal flist.

I think the GM names need to be unique and non-existant on any other server, to prevent tells from reaching another player. Basically, whatever name they chose, no one else may chose, and thus show up as "taken" on all servers. They also can't use their in-game name for privacy reasons. The very same reason they may not reveal to others what their in-game name is, nor may they tell people that they work as a GM.

Granted, I assume some people still tell their friends that they work as a GM. Sure, said person might know Chigrrrl, but I don't think she use the name Chigrrrl while playing FFXI on her leisure time.

I honestly have no idea if their account is flagged as a GM account, and can log in as a GM character if they want to. However, I think if "real" players took AV down to record that video, the LS's they're in should know the secret to defeating AV, no? Although I suppose that could be one of the reasons for the "JP button" joke ;P

Also duly noted that those were some fairly pimped out devs, as was expected.

I saw an Apocalypse DRK, full Relic SMN, among others...

Yeah, I juiced when he used the weapon skill.

They were nicely decorated, and yeah, I also caught notice to the 2 hours. Didn't know that even existed. >.<;

GM accounts are entirely seperate. I've inquired and are accessable via the GM building out in CA (For US), I inquired of the requirements and it's stated you need to be in CA and know two of the four languages in the party language option (US,JP,GR,FR) plus have atleast one 75 character on your personal account. GM accounts are strictly accessable via the buildings IP (MAYBE). If not, they would/should allow people who apply to be a GM not need to to live in CA.

~This just not fact, just knowledge and "put 2 and 2 together" thought process answers~

That would be extra cool and very cruel. That would really attach a new facet to what end game deems 'player skill.' It kind of ups the ante for a skilled linkshell group to play the perfect game.

It sure makes sense.

If you try to TP burn AV and have a bunch of DRKs pop BW+SE, AV almost always uses Invincible

Would invincible reduce the drain effect to 0 then as well? (Serious question coming from an AV noob)

It would, since you drain the damage you do. Not like it matters anyway though, since the drain-effect doesn't damage itself.

All of the nuking on appropriate days fits right in with the entire CoP storyline...

namely that in all the Riverne ENMs, the mobs are weak or immune to X element at any given time, in the Promies, the mobs and the NMs are weak to an element correspondent to their jewels...

just a thought.

just a thought ive read through the attemps made and the video.
As we know rdms do make great hnm tanks BUT is there a diffrent reason they are in the party AROUND AV.
My point is also inforced by the fact that u can see a
BLM stay very near AV in the D teams vid. Also whms are close to the tank team and AV.
So do the jobs whos 2 hours you dont wanna see need to be near AV or in his vision when he uses his 2 hours?
Also no pets are seen in the whole vid. Are they killed, kited or locked out?
Or even spawned, locked out then killed?
