I looked at the drops for AV and I really am not all that impressed with them. None of the rings are all that great in my opinion. The only thing I really thought would be nice is the Ninurta's Sash for a better speed belt or Raphael's Rod for a thief who gets a wild hair up his ass and wants to dual wield clubs instead. Are these really that great of drops for years of theory and a 10+ hour fight?

The game isn't all about gear. Some people put in the time for the fun, strategy and the glory... don't worry you will get you sash someday after someone else puts the work in to figure this out for you.

It's not a 10 hour fight..

Shouldn't take longer than 2, if done correctly.
 
We can probably not say "If done correctly", because not a one of us knows what correctly is, and not every LS that does sea has full land king gear/sky/sea/relic weapons like the dev team did, so that is another thing they have a pretty big leg up on everyone with.

Besides as of now he's still unbeatable.

Are the items that catch my eyes. Nothing beat them in the game. And they are just awesome. Also, AV has this particularity that its drop are ALL jobs. I mean, how many fucking NMs are there out there that drop good stuff only for SOME jobs ? The ring interests ALL melee jobs, the Range interest 3 mages jobs, The sash, all melee jobs except one plus some mages jobs.

I don't know anything about SAM but the GK looks awesome too .. (dex8 store TP8 STR8 )

Also raphael's rod = LOL.
 
Unfortunately the people who got the Futso no Mitama from when it was beatable dont know what the trigger for the latent STR+8 is.

I agree that it isn't all about gear. But the amount of work that goes into this single boss makes the fruits of the labor seem even a tad bit sour.

True having that sash would be kick ass and all. But that is just one of the possible drops. Its rarity for a buyable item will far surpass that of the Kraken Club.

I thought it was established that JoL was about a 3 hour fight and the actual AV fight went full circle around the elemental clock. I may have missed a post or two in here that said otherwise. Granted bosses like Tiamat who started out as long fights have been nailed to almost an exact science, I suppose AV will someday too. Can't wait to see all the videos.

I've stated before that JoL can be killed in as little as 30 min.

As for AV, Nakato is actually right. The fight itself is no more then 2 hours. From Ice Day to Thundersday. I admit, I was wrong earlier. I rewatched the JP AV video and saw that the day earlier assumed to be Watersday is actually Iceday, as seen by the JP sign for "Ice".

And seriously, did I miss something, or when did J'lo fights starting to take 3 hours? For most shells it takes no more then 1 hour.

That's at the most 3 hours. The AV video made by SE was from Windsday to Thundersday. That's, at the most, 3 hours. And that's assuming thye popped Jailer of Love at the begining of Windsday, and AV died at the end of Thundersday.

I did a check a year ago, I think, for clubs that Thief's could use. The only utility of Raphael's rod would be for a thief dual wielding this and either a ridill or a kraken club to make up for the horrible delay. However since the base damage on this is so much higher, I wonder how much True Strike and other club WS could do... Just for giggles of course.

I agree that for the slots these are great items. But for all the work and research that goes into just killing AV... Good luck guys.
