Anyone know what effects the power of a normal avatar attacking? INT? STR? (for the Smns)

From what I've heard, Summoning skill effects their melee attack and accuracy.

i know this might not be true, i'm not a summoner but. it would be funny if the summoner tried doing the stoneskin buff and missed. i've never seen this but it would be pretty funny imo just cause its so unlikely.

Totally off topic i know, but its one of those i'm stoned "what if" things ;)

Completely untrue. Summoning skill affects interrupt rates and casting time of the elemental spirits (not the avatars) only. There still hasn't been any kind of conclusive proof about Summoning Magic skill affecting anything about an avatar.

So Summoning magic is just as useless as healing magic?

Yes, unless you want to shorten your spirit's cast time, then its a useless skill. There are some who will maintain that it affects avatar stats however, there's no conclusive proof either way though, except in one interview where an SE rep said, as Cubs said, that summoning skill affects interrupt rates and casting time of the elemental spirits (not the avatars).

Well one thing I have come to believe it affects is whethere or not the Avatars get resisted. Ive done a million ENM promy runs now and everytime I bring a SMN with skill not capped he gets badly resisted on his 2 hour. Not sure if its just coincidence but its happened 4-5 times now in pickup parties where I can confrim they were underleveld.

It doesn't. It's coincidence.

I don't know that a SMNs stats can affect the avatar at all. (Albeit, I don't know that they can't, either.) There's not a lot of proof either way. I've watched a couple friends mess with this in limited testing, and no extreme of any base STAT boost seemed to really affect an avatars melee stats, or even their magical stats. It's pretty hard to come up with SMN gear that affects things like STR, DEX, AGI, and VIT though, so it's possible that the person who did this just couldn't equip enough to make a difference. I've never noticed a difference on any of my avatars either; they seem to hit withing a pretty close, consistent damage range regardless of my gear, on any give type of mob. Avatars level up just like we do, obviously, and I'm willing to bet that most of their power comes from their hidden stats. The only equipment I know of that can affect their performance are things like AF1 pants, AF2 hands, Austere/Penance Gear, ect. Avatar TP affects magic bursts and maybe damage pacts, iirc, but most good summoners I know don't melee with their avatars, so it's kind of a moot point, most of the time. If you see Marato online, you should nail him down and ask him; I know he did a lot of extremely extensive testing along these lines about a year ago. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him around for several months now. =/
