so reposting:

someone told me you had to fight each avatar 2 times(the 60+ ones) if you wanted to fight fenrir too. once to be able to use the avatar as smn and once for the whisper...

now i thought the whisper let u use the avatar too XD

so which ones true??
 
When you beat an avatar you get its whisper. You can trade that for a prize, one prize being the ability to summon the avatar. To get the key item to enter fenrir's BC you need all 6 whispers in your key items, which go away when you trade them in for prizes normally. After you've gone in to Fenrir once you don't need to repeat this though. You could just do the level 20 battles to gain the avatars and do the lvl 60s to get the whispers in the same day, or do it the two times around method which is kill the lvl 60 ones twice each.

Oh, ok so I do have to kill them twice. Thanks for confirming that ^^

And my smn is lvl one. I think I will get all the avatars before lvling it :D
 
Hey Svina...Do you have to kill the avatars 3 times (2 in my case due to mini battles) to get the Evoker's ring and Fenrir?
 
Yeah pretty much :? ... the avatars are easy beans. Fenrir is gonna be fun to do twice through though.
 
Do you think a SMN would not be a leech if they did the normal avatar battles at level 60? (Not fenrir just like Garuda and such...)

This was the level I was thinking of starting to do the battles...is it high enough?
 
Yeah you can buff before the battle and use your IV spells. They're actually pretty useful. Another trick is to let the avatar get hate near the 2 hour and then release before it goes off. It nulls the enemy's 2 hour and you get off free :D
 
I was under the impression you only had to unlock the fenrir fight once with all the whispers and then you could redo it as much as you wanted without recollecting the other whispers.

That's correct.
 
You need a rare/ex item from each avatar for the evoker's ring, you need the 6 main avatar whispers to get fenrir, and you need to kill each avatar for the ability to summon them. So that's 3 times through (2 if you did the level 20 battles)

Ah' that is the part I was missing. I thought the evoker's ring was a rare/ex reward from killing fenrir (in place of taking him as a summon).
 
Sabia, 60summon is fine for avatar battle. a 65 exp party can kill the avatars (except fenrir of course) so it wouldnt be gimping very much at all.

Yup Rones theres an item from each avatar (the weird item choice you get, from another ff game when you go to turn in the whisper.) you give those to a guy in norg. other than that i dont know.

Sabia a summoner at lvl 25 with only Carbuncle is a leech unless they are very very deperate for a healer. A summoner without their summons is like having a BLM without any BLM spells... They are pretty terribale. I am not sure it would be physicaly possibale to get to 60 as a summoner without at least some of teh summons, you probaly will need all minus Fenrir otherwise your name will go around adn invites will be a real pain.

Or do you mean you have the summons and want to join a party to re-get teh Whispers?

Looking back I realize how even suggesting you do not have the summons is stupid... Thought it was a low lvl smner who posted what I quated...

I have everyone but Fenrir at this point thanks to the Mini-Avatar battles....

I have to start collecting Whispers and the items for my Evoker's ring and was thinking of starting to quest for everyone's but Fenrir's at level 60. Was curious if this was leeching or if I'd be okay... :D

As a 60'ish Blm I have been hunted down for Prime fights but shuned when I want to join a fenrir fight. So I suspect it would be leeching. I know a fenrir fight can make a full 70+ party nervous, so I think its hard to get in pre-65. Too bad, I love Smn. It was the first advanced job I unlocked but havent played it because of the avatars. Well that and I fell in love with Blm. :lol:

I just want to join the Normal Avatar Prime battles at 60 (Not the Fenrir one...) and was wondering if I'd be a leech in say, a Shiva battle.

I"m well aware that at level 60 I'd be a leech in a fenrir battle (allthough I cross my fingers for good people that would let me do one at 65 :shock: ).

Ooops. sorry :oops:

You're right, I misread. In the fights I have been in, you wouldnt be a leech at all, infact you could be an asset.
