...exactly my thoughts. Due to an earlier flame I was partying tonight in crawlers to get my level back. The party was a little astray from what Im used to, but it was fine with me. I'm not too picky as I like interesting match-ups:

Pld/War
Drg/War
Drk/War
Smn/Whm *Later on -->* Whm/Blm
Smn/Whm
Thf/Nin *Me*

Anyway, we were in the secret room with other pts behind us. Because of the lv range of the group the mages wanted Blazers, but without erase and burst I was hesitant. Not to mention at the time there was a helluva lot of aggro out and about to work around. Whatever, that's my job to deal with.

I kept most of it to hornflys, not just because they were easier on us, but because me and the Drg both did a lot more dmg on them. I would pull blazers when the Dragoon's wyvern was low on hp, and tried to keep it chained unsucessfully do to a few afk calls, mp bars, and lack of pulls.

Anyway, near the end of the pt something bad happened. I was pulling a blazer, and somewhere in the run back an exo aggroed me. *I have no clue where, as I never saw this thing and I was looking under rocks for anything that'd aggro/link.*

The thing that really pisses me off is not only did I not see it to avoid it, but I never saw it until I was at the camp and the PLD voked it. That's when it ran through my head... oh shit.

I got an exo link and took it back to camp. I have no idea how, but I did. Some people helped, and deaths were kept to a minimal.

Anyway, a bunch of the people in other parties started the usual griping about "Newbs don't know how to take a kill." and "What kidn of idiot links and exo."

I replied to one of forementioned people that I hadn't known about the link or even had seen it, or I would have ate the kill. The only time I bring a link back to camp is when the pt tells me to beause we could handle it.

I get a /slap reply. Well, my party forgave me, so I guess that's good. it just pains me to know I might be on some blists because of something I couldn't help.

It really bothers me. More then it should. I don't mind if peopel think i'm an asshole when I am, but it always burns me when people think I'm something for no reason other then assumption...

Anyway, this should be the last post like this from me in a long while. It's rare I take on links, and even more rare that it ends up this way. I guess I need to practice more or something... *sigh*

Feel for you, been there

Well they will get over it if they did blacklist you. It was a mistake and I think most intelligent people would realize that and forgive you.

Well, it really burns me when you make a mistake *everyone* has made and people feel the need to cut you down for it. I mean... name-calling? Give me a break. I usually just /smile at them or /grin at them... or a /say >.o

I wish I could do this...

Just one question, do you play with volume on? Every mob makes a unique noise when it aggros/links, so if you're pulling with volume off, you're really hurting yourself, I think.

As for the topic at hand... people need to learn that s*** happens. Deal with it.

Were you being criticized by people who play jobs that don't typically pull?? Because I HATE when that happens. Not necassarily to say that they never have pulled but some people judge when they have no idea how much of a challenge can be from time to time. Believe me, I have been a victim to the pop link several times so I can sympathize for you! Don't get down about it because even if you don't intend on it, it will surely happen again. My LS made up a joke about me when I pull a pop link. Called it the Oldsmopull :\. Anyways the point is, don't get down over a couple of people who don't know what happened. Links happen to everyone!

This happened to me sometime too when I was leveling my RNG in Crawlers' Nest. It really makes me feel like I'm a "noob" specially when I pull a mob and it happens another mob popped like before the entrance of the secret room. I know the feeling of it but it really happens. If people criticize for an accident like that about you I say just ignore it.. You know it's an accident and your PT knows that it's not your fault or anyone else's.. I say I blame it to the mobs.. lol :P

It's not as if everyone that has ever pulled has made this same mistake r anything.

It's not exactly an uncommon mistake, either. And alot of times it can't even be helped. You pull a Soldier in CN, another pops in front of the door...you can either run through and hope for no link (most likely will), stand around and get battered while hoping someone gets the pop, or you can stand there and die. All three will kindof make some people call you crap...
