Back to leveling Ninja - lv 52

I don't see where the distinction is between 'old' and 'new' ninjas. All I came to this thread to do was add that NIN nowadays were better off with a attack build instead of an evasion build. I was then called a horrible monstrous gimp for using a spike necklace even when I've got every single multimillion gil and RA/EX item except the swift belt, (which I just got access to sacrarium yesterday and I'm going to be going for right now.)

Some of us quit the game for extended time periods, and THAT is why we don't have CoP done.

Jamal, Meeze, and myself may seem like we are coming off like dicks, but we are only giving him the information to optimize his xp/hr potential, and also his amount of invites given while seeking/not seeking. We are telling him the best way to level up, and it's a hell of a lot more fun.

Couple of things to add to this...IFF you're not planning on doing anything as a group, I have no problem with continuing leveling solo. You won't be changing anyone's gaming experience besides your own. If you plan on partying at all, then get everything being deemed necessary by 'vet's.

Secondly, like Blaze said...if you don't want to hear what people have to say, don't freaking ask it. I will NEVER come up, /c you, and then be like...ugggh, why are you using such and such. If you ask what is necessary, be prepared for it.

Third, Ruffy you are in no position to deem what is luxury or what is standard equipment. It's no offense to you, but rather than arguing you should be taking notes...you don't have to go around and /c people to see what you should be wearing, you're getting the advice handed to you on a silver platter. Throwing that back in our faces is just piss poor...which reminds me of a good thing to remember that applies to this game:
The 6 P's:
Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Finally, to the arguments about 'this is a game, games are supposed to be fun':
I can't fathom anything more exciting than seeing hard work pay off. Even if the acc is only +3 over spectacles, knowing you busted your ass for the pcc will make you feel a million times better when you obtain it. You think its not worth the struggle, but the feeling you get when you get to write
/equip Neck "Peacock Charm"
into your macros more than makes up for it.

umm...

readmypostitwasjustrighttherebigguy...

You know if I were to say, its the vets doing every single but of the 'ignoring' in this thread. Ive already said, multiple times in face, even from the start of the thread, that I am trying to get certain gear still. I even said I wasnt going to lv NIN until I GET this gear.

So, what? Youre starting this piss contest because I still believe PCC luxury and you dont? Not once did I say Im not going to bother with it. Not in a single post. I have said that I was TRYING to get it in several posts, however.

So seriously, wtf is your problem with me saying its luxury... Your 'passing judgment' is really retarded because youre accusing me of things that were cleared up by the second, if not FIRST page of this thread.

I did read your post, and I told you you're not in the position to say what is a luxury item, therefore you're ignoring our advice because you 'think' you're right.

omg seriously...

You arent serious?? So wait, lol, Im in no position to determine what I think is luxury or not?? You are seriously beginning to make me snicker. HOW IS HAVING A DIFFERENT OPINION IGNORING ANY ADVICE?

Get out of your damn diaper man. Youre supposed to be older than me, act like it.

This isn't a matter of opinion. Preferred Complete gear sets (attack/haste/evasion) as well as preferred multi-situational subjobs are matters of opinion, single-piece gear hierarchy is not.

I dont really have an opinion in this matter, people are going to do and gear as they want to, but this bugged me...

I think anyone who has played this game can take a position on this. Hopefully everyone has an idea what the introduction of acc gear does to thier setup and understands how getting a PCC may free up some slots to put other stuff in.

Anyone who has a job about 50 can have an opinion about how the introduction to more ACC will effect thier setup.

I personally believe that having an extra say 5 acc of PCC over CC, if you have all the rest of standard equipment, I think you will be alright. I dont think not having a PCC at (especially)lower lvls is somthing to get upset about. Should they be working towards it? Yes. Is it ok to exp w/o it? I think so. Now can people have greater expectations? Sure, is Jamal ok to expect every NIN he exps with from PCC on to wear one? Yeh he is entitled to that.

It basically boils down to this: Ruffy wants to get his gear by what's equivalent to RL gambling. A lot of the advice from various people has been "ya know, chances are pretty damn high that you'll get the gear sooner by what's equivalent to working an RL job and saving up". (Translation: do consistent things that will definitely make money, buy when you have enough. Rather than do inconsistent things that have a very slim chance of getting you the item directly but have a very high chance of getting you diddly squat.) Ruffy's response is "I don't care, I want to gamble."

So let him gamble. Maybe he'll get lucky, ya never know. Or maybe he'll still be gambling while his work-and-save peers have long since gotten the thing and passed him.

There's not really any curing a desire to gamble, and there's definitely no curing impracticality.

For god's sake, go to IGE, buy some gil, get a peacock charm, and put us all out of our misery.

The thing about a peacock charm is that once you own one, you're DONE with the neck slot from 33 to 75 for every melee job. That's a really nice feeling to have. Outside of sea torques (and for some sea torques you can still argue that pcc is better) and maybe some ws gorgets, your neck is sexy looking. Seriously, when you ding 33 on your next melee job and put on that pcc, you'll see why at only 2mil it's one of the biggest steals in the entire game. Buy one and keep it forever, best 2mil you'll ever spend.

God, someone lend me 2m, I'm feeling more and more gimp every page.

Would I neet to change to PCC if I already have a Chivalrous Chain? D=

My problem with it being considered standard is 2 mil is still a large amount of gil to farm by the time you are level 33. I can understand expecting a level 75 to work towards one, but not someone just starting out. Sure, I do expect a level 59 WAR to have a hauby or a 57 NIN to get a SH, but there are a lot more options to farming and those are almost a tenth the price of a PCC. You can't even do the BCNM till you are 40 and most only do NIN/NIN/RDM trio so unless you already planned on leveling one of those two jobs, it's one less option.

I do agree though, once you put one on and if you just dinged 33, you will notice the impact easily over a spike necklace any day. It's worth the effort by far, I don't ever take mine off.

I wouldn't consider it standard for someone's first job to 75. I would, however, strongly recommend going after it for anyone who already has a 75, and that 75 or any other upcoming jobs are melee.

Speaking of which, when should I switch between tanking in hauby and SH? Since most people are saying eva becomes kind of ruled out once you hit 60ish, should I just stay in hauby after that?

I switched to hauby +1 at 59 it worked fine from there on. It was my 3rd job to 75 so I had farmed and had the best gear at all levels. With a job like nin its worth it. You may have to sacrafice leveling time and wait a bit longer to hit 75 but you will notice a difference and it will be much more fun to play.

By level 60, since you seem dead set to not like the idea of getting PCC,

then at least get this gear:

Weapons: Sai's I would say are best, I went Sai's to Mukestu +1 though. Try and get the R/ex katana's.
Head: Empress Hairpin full time
Body: Scorpion Harness for tanking and Haubergeon for WS or go all out DD and use Haubergeon full time.
Hands: Ochimusha Kote full time
Legs: Royal Knights Breeches full time
Feet: Sarutobi Kyahan for tanking and TP and WS in Bounding Boots

Earrings: Use evasion earrings if you're still using that and WS in attack earrings (Spike Earrings) or use Spike Earrings full time for DD
Rings: You have Woodsman? Then I'd recommend you just do DD set-up, you should have the gear for most of it from DRK and BLU anyway.
Neck: If you're not going to aim for the best, just settle with Chivalrous Chain.
Waist: Potent Belt for WS and Swift Belt for TPing/Tanking, don't settle for anything less.
Back: High Breath Mantle full time and at 61 quit being gimp and buy a Amemet Mantle +1, they were standard gear back when they cost a million, there even more needed at 200k.

Evasion tanking is pretty much crap around 65, you can stick with it if you want, I found it to be more expensive then just using DD gear. Sole Sushi always too, if you're going to settle for shitty gear, at least use decent food.

There is better gear, but since you're not willing to put in the effort, I would recommend this.

Pastry, are you going to pull a Jamal and ignore my posts too...?

Ive clearly pointed out several times that Im trying to get a PCC... But thanks for the suggestions.

Really?

Thats because Ive been in Oztroja for the past 4 days.

0/36 Mee Deggi, 0/32 Quu Domi

Lets say you spend around 30 mins for each spawn. Now for fun sake lets say you get ever single spawn so no time is wasted. Thats 68 spawns or 34 hours of camping. If you do a little searching on ffxiah you should be able to farm at least 25k. So you could have had 850k by now. Thats just in 4 days you could have a PCC in around 10 days at that rate! You could buy fuma, kote and PCC in 17 days not bad at all.
