I'm planning to get a new harddrive for my Primary Hard disk (Where window are booted from), I don't want to reinstall everything to the disk. Does Backup or Restore Wizard program able to backup "everything"? Like Registry, file, system file, etc etc. Then restore those backup in the new HD. Does it able to work this way? Does everything works after it? Or no matter what, i have to reinstall everything?

Cuz my S.m.a.r.t. said both my HD had fail on Nvidia Monitor, and on SpeedFan, Preformance are ok. but Fitness are somewhat at 50%

any advice would be nice, and also, what HD is good out there? looking for 500GB-1TB

Thanks

Backup and Restore wizard is likely only data... unlikely apps/registry. Only thing i know of that will do that is called Imaging or Cloning.

Doesn't back up applications and registry. That's very risky either way, because any problems with your system will also carry over, or you might carry over registry entries for programs you don't carry over... etc.

It's only personal data.

Idk.. when i go check "Let me chooose what to back up" it have an option with "System state" i'm sure you can... it can backup boot file, COM+ Class Registration Database and Registy. I have nothing wrong with this computer, so nothing damaging will carried over

If nothing is wrong with the computer, then why do you need to replace the primary hard drive? I didn't really understand what the problem is that you're having, sorry :(

It said there was a HDD detected SMART HDD failure soon. Not that there was anything wrong with the installation on the HDD. If it SOUNDS like it will do it then try it? If you are paying attention it is pretty obvious to tell if it does those items or not.
