Bad Company 2

Maybe they ment to? They lit MW2's add on fire? I enjoy it more then MW2 personally.

I finally figured out how to explain my feelings for this game.

I loved CoD4. So when MW2 hit I was expecting a better version of it, an upgrade. However, for every step IW took forward they took a step back. Same with Dice and BFBC:2. BFBC is a way, way better game than BFBC2 to me. The thing that pissed me off though is that I didn't expect Dice to MW2 me, they've always been pretty legit.

The one good thing that has come from me buyin' this game is that it has come to make me appreciate MW2 a helluva lot. That being said, I still sort of like the game and feel I made the better choice between gettin' this over FF XIII. BF games are good for one thing a lot of shooters are not, playin' alone. If I only have time for a game or two and don't want to stir my buddies or just wanna be left alone, I'm much better off goin' into a BF match than a CoD match.

Multiplayer aside, I'm real excited to play the single player. I decided to finish all of the MP achievements before I start it (OCD kinda I know) and I'm down to needin' 8 more Destruction 2.0 kills.

i picked it up against my better judgement. i wasnt going to because i havent really spent much time gaming on ps3 lately. i have to say, its not a "must have" title. as i expected, its pretty much a map pack for the first one. only improvment that i like is upgrades to weapons and vehicles. which, we have had for the past couple years with cod. they still havent fixed the clunky character movemnt/jumping. very easy to get stuck on a corner as your trying to run past it. my biggest issue with bfbc was some destruction of the environment was too easy. it still is. not necessarily buildings, but trees. trees are not able to be cut in half by one shot by a sniper rifle.
it was to my surprise the free weapons when i first logged in. m1 garand, thompson, and the colt 1911 for being "veteran" status. its still a sniper fest.
in all, my opinion on it is: its so-so. definately better than the first, but not life changing

Funny, I'm the opposite lol. I think it's the best FPS multiplayer game out since BF2.

Recon > Combat 870 > Mortar > Slugs > +Explosive Damage = A good time.

honestly, i like bf2 more than any of the bfbc. i hope that the bf3 they are in works with, is a resemblance more of bf2 than any of the bad companies. not really seeing that happen though. they are going a little overboard with the frostbite engine to have that happen. they need to at least tone the destroyable environment, down though. at least the tree aspect of it. id like to think you could use a tree as cover against someone shooting at you. not so much since it only takes one sniper shot to take it out.

About that... Just like the MP the SP was a huge, huge letdown. I loved the first BC SP. Not so much the gameplay but the comedy of it all and the story was good fun. This time around they really messed it up. It makes no sense for them to go from chasin' gold and bein' comical to chasin' an EMP bomb and bein' all stiff. DICE didn't even make any effort to explain the jump either. I felt like I was playin' the MW2 campaign with no feeling, more like if MW2's story was simply bare bones. I knew DICE liked to take shots at IW, but this was like, "Hai hai, I gotz n idea guyz! Let's rip off the MW2 story and instead of just makin' fun of it with jokes we make it a shitty campaign as a metaphor!" I only laughed 2-3 times and each time wasn't so much because what was said was funny, but at how corny it was. Hell, in the first they even had funny -situations-, I mean, how often do you have to liberate a town from a maniac member of your squad?

I should note the story isn't an exact copy, it is played out very differently but the overall feel of where they took it was pretty much a watered down "what if" scenario from the MW2 campaign.

All that aside, they left it off for a good story next time. I just hope instead of chasin' the MW story they do somethin' more suited to the BC crew. Fat chance of that though as...

Spoiler:
They left off with Russia beginnin' an Invasion on the U.S.

Where in the world have I seen that before?

For people who liked the first Bad Company, really, why don't you like this game as much? I don't get it really. This one is more balanced. Recon isn't overpowered, it's just the most used class since people can change kits now. Other classes are fine, and like I said it's more balanced. To me, its just a better game, and can be much better if they change TWO things, which are; Respawn Rate of Vehicles, and to make it tougher to blow a building down. Other then that, I don't see what the difference is at all. It's not the games design's fault. Remember, the game is played by players. BFBC2 has had a lot more publicity then the last one. This game has attracted MW2 players, which love to camp and snipe, and snipe and snipe. If the way players are playing are pissing people off, well that isn't Dice's fault, it's just the "new" style that COD has created.

Like I said, my only true grip is vehicle respawn, and buildings getting blown down way to easily. They can change that by making buildings stronger, or nerfing the mortar. To me, these can be very easy fixes, then to me, you really wouldn't see a difference at all between this and BC1 other then different maps...

Any of you guys happen to know what map the Russian version of the apache is on? It's not in any of the Rush maps, and I've seen the UAV as the only available vehicle in Conquest, so my guess is that it would be in Squad Deathmatch since it mentions vehicles in the description.

Stan, the only vehicles in Squad Deathmatch are tanks. Not sure where you can find that toy, but it wont be there.

More balanced? There was nothin' imbalanced about BFBC's MP, nothing. Well, maybe Helicopters and no kind of ungrounded lock-on rocket launcher without a tag, but hell, they didn't respawn every 30 seconds. Killin' a heli was a big deal, as it should be. It took work to get it down and the other team would pay the consequences of that.

Recon is overpowered in this one, unlike the first. In the first the only way they could ping someone was from their sniper balls, now all they have to do is scope in with the spot scope. The scope shouldn't exist, it's too easy. It just promotes shooting triangles and not someone you found.

Spotting -was- a good idea, but it was poorly implemented. Not everyone should be able to see a "spotted" player, just the squad of the spotee. I'll take that one further, there should not be any spotting, at all. Its way to easy to just scan an area spammin' back/select to find a victim. I do it all the time and is why I use the 4x zoom with most any weapon I load out with. I get a lot of kills from just spam swipin' an area and shootin' at Triangles, hell, I have killed more triangles than people I have actually seen.

I don't like that Medic does not have the Mortar. Engineers have rockets, Assault have Tubes, Recon has Mortars, where the hell is my Medic's explosive item? You say Paddles are good? I'd rather have a dead teammate than a fuckin' paddle. I can't count the number of times I get a kill, watch the guy get paddled, kill him again, and then kill the Medic. It's stupid, if someone died chances are they've been spotted in the area and are bein' watched why should I go into the area and cost us a ticket too? Instead of takin' the guided missle out of the game, I'll gladly take it despite it makin' more sense in the hands of the Recon.

Maps... Just my opinion but the maps in BC2 are 100% inferior in design to the BC maps. In CoD4 you had some space on your maps and in MW2 IW brought on the clutter. The same thing has happened here. In BC there was very little choke points, this game has a ton of them. To me this feels less sandbox and more on par in a spot where on par is played out. The maps of BC2 also are much, much smaller and narrower than the BC maps.

What it all boils down to is this; if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you want to change the HP system that's fine, though unnecessary. However, don't go changin' the core mechanics of the game (shorter fuses, spotting, vehicle respawns, etc.). What they did was smart, they catered to the MW2 crowd to make some extra change, but it's a let down to those of us who like BF over CoD. And before they know it it'll just be us BF crowd left stuck in a game meant for the MW2 preferees.

Also, I'm not sure if played much BC, based on your comments of imbalance and snipers, but there was A LOT of sniping in that game, just as much as the second. CoD didn't bring on the snipers, BF games have always been that way. It is just that in the past snipers were not of much concern to the better player base, they could be dealt with, with ease. Now that spotting is involved it just makes me feel like throwin' my hands up.

i bought the limited edition of the game. it comes with a code for upcoming downloadable maps. its not accepting the number. anyone else having problems doing it. is it because of the store issues via bfbc2? or perhaps im enting the number in incorrect?

Found the Havoc btw. It's in Atacama Desert under Conquest. Both teams get an attack chopper. Something about it just isn't as entertaining as Port Valdez though. The interface feels too cluttered compared to the Apache too, but it seems to turn easier.

Atacama Desert... such a terrible map. Like I've said before I'm not really a fan of vehicles, I prefer CQ city type maps with no vehicles, just infantry. So anytime I see this map on the loading screen I'm like fuuuuuuuu. However the other day I found a great way to make this map more enjoyable. In the spoiler is my guide to playing Atacama Desert.

Spoiler:

So you load into a server or a round just ends, and you are switching to the next map and see this:

If you're like me and not a fan of vehicles, you might be thinking 'shit'. Well don't worry because I know a fun way to play this map and if you follow my instructions so can you. Start out by picking a class with C4. I was using recon at the time because I wanted points for it, and sometimes you get stranded in the middle of no where, so long range weapons are nice to have. This was my set:

So you're at your uncap base to start out with and the first thing to do is find a vehicle. You'll want to go with the ATV or Hummer (or russian equivalent) since tanks are slow and youre team would probably be pissed if you wasted the chopper. I usually go with the ATV since it is small, quick, and its easy to sneak up on the enemy with. I do like the hummer as well though for the added ease of roadkills, which can be pretty bad ass too. I used the russian one for this because someone had taken the ATV.

Next put 3 C4s on the vehicle, 2 will work but I say shit, throw the 3rd one on for good measure or in case your driving is a little off.

Then, you need to find your target. Driving down the side is usually safer because youre farther away and harder to hit by a random engineer with rockets.

Then when you find your target drive directly at them, preferable from an angle they wont see you approaching. When youre close enough for your vehicle to cost into your target and you are at a safe distance to not be caught in any explotions, jump out and when youre vehicle rams the target, detonate your C4.

I recommend not being in a squad when doing this as they tend to spawn on you:

And if you've spotted a target we all know its to late to turn back and your squad mate is just going to be an unfortunate casualty:

Well Strid, if you feel this one isnt' as good as BC1. Then play on hardcore. It virtually turns the game back into the orginal, except you die much faster (in BC1, it could take a while to kill someone)

Here's what you get with Hardcore:

1. BYE BYE HALO HEALTH.

2.Bye bye bright orange dots.(you can still spot and get the points for spoting)

3. Bye bye MW2 killcam.

4. Motion sensor map combo still works, but now you have to pull out your map(start button) or really work for the kill by listing for the beeps and searching for the person.

5.1 shot to the head from any gun counts.

6. sniper auto spot still can see someone in your screen before you do, but with no orange dot to show the way you have to look for the person.

I love how the health doesn't go back up.

7. You can teamkill

raidrx...welcome to the world of car bombing. what you do used to be a, and still is, a tactic for battlefield 2. very effective.

once they increase the spawn time of the chopper and block the enemy team from coming in your base, it will be a good map.

on squad rush, its a good map.

One thing I guess you can call a tactic, but a very very cheap one is the ability to see the guy on the UAV at the start of the game on two maps in Rush mode. I know one of them is Isla Inocentes. Pretty much every game I've been in there's some enemy sniper that immediately goes over to the farthest island(the one with some debris floating against it I think?) and just camps there.

Normally right after I get killed the second I even got on the UAV computer, I hop on a jet ski and go kill him, but man it gets so annoying basically giving them a free kill everytime I feel like using it. I don't mind that the enemy team is able to get into your first base after the first objectives are taken because then the enemy actually has to go out of their way to get to you due to their spawn point moving back, but on these maps that's not the case. All they would have to do is move the UAV box back behind the hill. Then again I guess they could just call a mortar strike, but that's still far less tedious to deal with.

Well now that I easily capped out Recon, I hardly ever die to them anymore. I know all the camps and best places in a map, so yeah, it's pretty fun killing them left and right lol. Virtually not a problem for me and my squad mates anymore.
