Ok well ive recently walked into the awesome world of the ballista, however there are several things that irk me about it that i shall flame right now.

1.) If you dont know, in ballista, all Aga spells including Curaga, Protectra, Firaga, Blizzaga, etc effect full alliances. Meaning if you have an alliance in the ballista of 18, all 18 get hit if they are in the AoE. Something ive noticed from Japanese players (never NA) is they refuse to form alliances when the opposing team has a mage. They always respond with {Firaga} {danger}. Ive even seen a japanese player go SOLO, as in not in a party OR alliance. IM just sick of these jerkoff cocky japanese players who think they are better than everyone else so they wont join an alliance. Every time this party or person disbands, my team always loses for several reasons:

A.) We cant find the rest of our team, thus can't {Gather together} and yet these same cocky JP players insist we {Gather together} HOw the fuck do you suppose we do that? Give us a damn location or something.

B.) Again cant find the team, how are we to cure you and help you out? You call for help, yet we cant see you on our maps.

C.) Im still a bit shakey on how exactly you achieve gate breach. I know obviously if you kill someone you get it, but i get it all the time by just aiding a teammate in killing someone. I believe this effect applies to alliance members as well, meaning you can achieve gate breach by helping an alliance member kill someone. (correct me if im wrong please) Thus not attaining gate breach leads to no petras scored.

Another flame i have is towards those WATCHING a ballista. All i have to say to you is SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW! Sure its fine to say Go {Insert Nation here}! or {insert nation here} Pride! But what is the purpose of saying "BWAHAHAH NOOB! You just got pwned!" or "STOP running you pussy! Fight like a {insert nationality here}!"

Im sorry but if you dont have the balls to join a ballista, dont talk shit to anyone. Im sure many of you fucktards find it funny to /shout During a ballista "YOUR TEAM SUCKS BAHAHAHA!" and it makes you a 1337 player. Yeah your team may be winning or beating us, however you did JACK SHIT to help them achieve victory. The MOST You did was distract other players who responded to your immature /shouts and even /tells. Please, either backup your childish words and fight in a ballista, or STFU and stop annoying us who are trying to enjoy it and concentrate.

And thats my rant about things goin on in ballista. Feels good to get it off my chest ^_^

None of this has ever happened to me... ever. Seems like a direct flame against JP because you have a problem with the lack of communication.

You are one of those rngs who never think sadly.
You are FFXI's Leeroy where you alone dashes out and an alliance of Enemies slaughter you.
It is people like you who gave away enemies the Gate Brench.
Best offense is defense.
Proven fact. You ppl run over to Enemies Territory.
They are gathered together. You pushed them soo much until we are on the north outpost. Unbelieveable.
Thinking that you can overthrow that alliance with so little help against soo many mage.

Gather Together? If we do not have the specific spot... why don't you voice out.. Oh wait, i'm sorry... you dash out alone getting slaughtered and was asking for help... Was obvious ppl are relunctant to help you.

You don't see me dying as often as you.

That fuck face who was shouting was Gimli. Highly immatured with the brain size of a peanut.

Kira: I do think. Hell i think quite a bit (surprising no? :D ). I actually try to NEVER be one of those to rush in alone like a moron and die. Im normally the one telling people to NOT rush in like an idiot....maybe you saw me typing in CAPS if you were in my alliance. Im not saying im perfect mind you. Ive taken my hits from Firaga and Blizaga. However i tend to stay away from the pack for that exact reason, the aga spells. Ive witnessed people who are new to ballista just walk up to the enemy. Ok thats fine they dont know better, so i just stay away from them. Its really that simple, i dotn see how its needed to not make an alliance for it because after they get spammed with diaga or something, i rush in to help out.

People are not reluctant to help me, nor am i to help them. Problem is, if someone types in the LS chat (H-8) {Help me out!} what happens? I dash to (H-8)....but wait...thats one big ass square to find their character in. And thats where my problem is. Maybe i need a new comp so the characters will load faster. I dont know. Now dont get me wrong, i definately understand why not having an alliance is safer, but i find HAVING an alliance is even better. Again, just my own opinon. Maybe im just bad luck and i happen to lose each time that happened, i dont know. :(

Neo: I have no problem with japanese players at all. As a matter of fact, i think they are great. There isnt a communication problem. I know exactly why they are doing it. But i played with this one who thought he was tough shit and said {Alliance} {No thanks} {I'm playing solo} {Good bye} and then contuinued to get pounded on by our opponents. It just happened to be that for me it was japanese players who rejected my {Create an alliance?}. However if it was an NA who did i would still flame them for it. Don't try to start a problem thats not there.

O yes and i knew gimli was the idiot. However hes not the first ive seen do that during a ballista.

Ever been to any major sporting event.....ever? Cheering on the home team and boo-ing the visitors is all part of the game.....If you're going to become a Ballista "Athlete" I suggest you learn to igorne it, all the pro's in real life don't let it get to them.

So don't cry when you get killed and someone laughs at you or puts your team down...tis the nature of the beast....deal with it.

Gate Breach can only be achieved if the members of your party kill someone. There is also a range you have to be in to get it. I'm not sure if you have to actually participate by casting a spell or firing an arrow but I do know that the party of the person who makes the kill are the only ones that achieve breach.

I dunno if anyone else mentioned or not, but you don't need to be in pt to locate your team members. During ballista you have widescan available to see your teammates on. Or did they change that? I haven't done ballista in a long time :|

I'm pretty sure it still does but I rarely use it. I've never had to worry about someone flying solo. Although there is still the Rambo style players that just constantly run in alone and die then complain that you are not gathering together.

Like i said, its not tooo bad until you start gettin /tells from them. And since when is this a sporting event? Its a video game. As a matter of fact its 100% opposite of a sport. Instead of being active we are sitting on our asses at our comp/ps2 playing a video game. ALthough i can see what analogy you are tryin to make. And i shall try to deal with it better.

Thanks for clearing that up, i wasnt sure if alliance applied. In that case my 3rd flame doesnt count anymore.

...It's a sporting event "inside" a video game.....and spectators will still adopt the whole fan mentality regardless of reality or not. Further more notice the " "'s around Athlete, I am fully aware that this is a video game.

Getting tells from them isnt really a big deal either tune it our....or change your font coloirs to something similar to your "say" chat colour so you don't notice it.

You can never change this aspect of ballista, so turn it into something useful go beat the shit outta someone from the team the spaz who's /tell-ing is cheering for and then tell him to shove it. Gloating is one of the best parts of Ballista ^^

Maybe the 3rd flame doesn't apply anymore but you can always add in the flame about your teams other parties stealing killa after they already have breach status.

Nothing is worse then wearing someone down and having a ranger from another party finish him off when they already have breach.

Good point. I can see where you are coming from. Yeah ive been to pro gmes hundreds of times. However ive never actually BEEN one of those pros whos gettin booed at. So its not quite the same. I will take your advice and try to ignore the annoying assholes and then maybe gloat....but not too much ;)

It makes sense to kill them to me...i mean i admit i have never played ballista but i assume you score then you run off to find more petra's...if I was about to run off and get some more petras i would not want a RNG standing there shooting my ass regardless of how much HP he has.

Of course please correct me if i am wrong in something...like i said i have never actually participated in ballista.

Actually when a Ranger steals a kill it's not like it's utterly pointless because the guy may just be trying to get BP and killing is a good way to get it.

I only read a little bit of this but I think you've overlooked the most critical way of communication in Ballista w/o being in a party.

A.) We cant find the rest of our team, thus can't {Gather together} and yet these same cocky JP players insist we {Gather together} HOw the fuck do you suppose we do that? Give us a damn location or something.

U get in a PT, go buff, get out.

/linkshell {Gather together.} <pos>

Problem solved.

This thread can rest now.

It alread was resting. >.>;

Anyway, if you had actually read his post, he already addresses this. The simple <pos> is not good enough because the squares themselves are enormous. They can give each other a general idea but several precious seconds are wasted running in circles trying to find your teammates rather than just seeing them on the map.
