This is exactly how I feel. If he was asked to stop multiple times AND got an infraction about it and he keeps doing it, he deserves a RO or a Temp Ban imo.

Exactly. The gist of it is, people were complaining for a long time that there was no consistency and that there were no rules in place that one could point to and say - that is what you did wrong. Now there are rules and they're being enforced and people are complaining again. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

It's a pretty simple concept. If you do something that warrants being asked not to do it again, you should probably, I don't know, not do it again? People are working hard on bettering the site. And part of that is keeping topics relevant and discouraging random useless stupidity that serves as nothing more than to take up space. I don't see the problem.

Response -

I just want to shed some extra light to this and then I'm going to lock it since the OP doesn't have access to the background information.

Amid has a few infractions on his account already. What we usually do when we give out infractions on certain items is review the ones that are on a users account - Current or expired. Should they have a large amount in a certain area (ie flamebaiting, threadcrapping) then we base the next infraction on priors.

The warning infraction that I gave was for the thread Is the World Heading to Depression? where his post was

This is now star wars thread!

I simply gave out a warning for that infraction and because of all of the reports and prior infractions I had mentioned that if something like this happened again we'd have to put him on a 5 day read only.

Not too long after we received a reported post in the same thread along the lines of

Yup, ignorant.

Go cry emo kid.

That post right there contains both a PC+1 and a flamebait. Because of that we decided that a 5 day read only was necessary. I'm sorry if you feel like we are jumping into Sculli V2.0, however I can assure you that we are not. Before the infractions system, people were screaming that mods were bias and were not giving out the same sanctions to users. With the infractions system, things have become a little more black and white. I hope this does not give you any less faith in the moderation team and I hope that we can continue to make you happy on the boards.

Should anyone have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM.

Regards,

Miros
