Bare minimum levels for expansion

Hey all, Iv been in besieged and assault and whatnot, its all nice. But now my friend wants to come over to Aht Urghan and he is only level 30.

I havent seen very many people below 40 and 50 and Im wondering if it would be ok to show him around some of the area and let him join everyone in besieged?

Is 30 ok or will he be torn apart? I dont know what a good minimum level to tell him.
 
I did besieged as my level 4 Summoner. Just have to be careful.
 
Any level.

Just <50 you won't last long :P
 
Heh, well he is a 30 WAR so I guess he'll be ok. (If not, Ill just kick sand in his face.)
 
Have him spam Ranged Attack for besieged so he isn't in range of the AoE. Since he is still attacking he should rack up points.

Well he has a 27 RNG. Would it be better to just screw the 3 levels and just go as a back line archer?
 
For besieged, have him go as whatever job he wants to go get experience on. Just don't get too close, especially against trolls and the undead. AoEs hurt like a biatch. (See sig)
 
hello, sorry to side track thread, but ill be quick. I haven't really been to the expansion areas except to get BLU, COR, and PUP. I was just wondering how do you go about participating in besieged? Thanks.

Just be there when they attack (not sure if you have to be a merc to join in the fight though).
 
I think you have to be a mercenary to gain XP/IS from besieged ... but thats not required to die during the event :biggrin: (and i heard during my last besieged you lose XP normally if you weren't a merc, but not sure about that)

He won't have any fun in besieged. I went as 65 war once and hit by 0 almost every single swing, and would also take a lot of damage from aoe.
 
Yeah, don't recommend people under 50 participating in besiege, you're just wasting a slot, burdening other people.

As was mentioned, He'll die to almost every AoE at that level. Death w/o someone to raise you means you'll be dead through the besieged and may not get any exp/ip anyway. I did besieged today on my Ninja. Was level 46, so being that I couldn't land a hit I subbed WHM. Didn't cap 700exp like usual, but did get 600+ both times I did it. Had two mages in the party who could raise me when/if I would get hit by an aoe or an aggro.

He'll have more fun with it at later levels, but no reason that he shouldn't be able to do it now if you plan accordingly and team up with someone who can raise him when nessessary. Have fun, and good luck.
 
No, there is a reason he shouldn't participate. He's not going to do anything beneficial and just waste peoples time raising him. I don't give a crap who the hell you team up with. If you can't hurt the mobs or have a decent MP pool to heal, get the hell out of Besieged.

I agree. I actually encourage my allies to not Raise those people on jobs under level 65. It's really ridiculous, especially when the lag is bad enough, or the zone maxes out, restricting people who could help the fight from getting in.
 
the only time I wanted a raise was when I was a level 30 something job and just trying to get to the warp taru and got killed by the mobs invading XD I was already in the zone already and my HP was somewhere far away x.x I think rabao for some reason XD

Sorry fellas, I am going to have disagree with you. He's not going to add any more lag than the people who afk by the auction house and has just as much to contribute as any other whiffing melee. Difference being, he pays to play this game just like you and them and if it is fun for him to run with the big boys than let him. It's not his fault for adding lag, it is SE's fault for not giving enough server support to handle the amount of players in the besieged. If SE did want to run Besieged like a Dynamis than they certainly would have placed a level restriction on it. It is not your place to put a level requirement on it. They need EXP and IP just like you and the next guy. Does my WHM have more to offer the besieged than a lvl 46NIN/WHM? The answer is obvious but, I comes before U even in the alphabet and if I want to put EXP on my NIN I certainly will even if it means you cannot get in.

You have every right to encourage those of your alliance to not raise anyone who you don't find worthy of a raise, but you don't reserve to dictate what anyone else considers a good time when they're not breaking any rules. As you noticed, I also encouraged him to make sure a raise was within his group. Even as white mage it is not my duty to raise anyone but myself. Anyone else is purely extra and that's the way I look at it. Usually the extra stems out first to my team anything more to a random corpse in my range.

I'm most assured that those of you dictating this will reach a point where you'll find yourself in a besieged on a not-so significant job. It only occures 3 times a day... surely after a while even you will want to try something new?

I have a 44 WHM and keep being told, not so much asked, by friend to join in with WHM to help heal. Would I be a liability and just die and lose XP or would I actually be able to survive? I'd assume that to gain XP and IS I would need a party with people around my level.

You don't actually need a party to participate in Besieged, unless of course you enjoy being in Besieged parties.

I've only been in Besieged Parties a grand total of ONCE. I realised that I could not damage the mobs for anything, so I heal people in Besieged. Healing I can do anywhere, anytime as long as I can get into Besieged.

Only thing I do think is that, if you are in Besieged, you should at least be able to contribute in some way, attack, heal, whatever. That's how you can get the 700 points.

Be smart, stay away from AoE and I think you'll be fine.
