Bastok Conquest Tally Results

Hey guys. Just wondering about something. I just came to this server from Ifrit. I played there for 3 years and have never seen a country only own the region outside of it.

This weeks conquest tally on quetz,...lol. Bastok only has gustaberg. Just wondering if this happens a lot.

Yeah, I prefer Bastok in last place, just like almost every other high level Bastokan. I actually like the best CP gear to actually work and be useful.

really never understood why Bastok was so put off as one of the three starting nations. 99% of us could care less what place its in, but i find it odd that Bastok is ALWAYS last. Windurst is impossible for a newb to navigate, and has alot of walking involved. Sandy is the obvious choice for every Lolcloudtidusephiroth player, but is it really that poplular to pick that nation when starting? Maybe its cuz nobody plays Galka anymore... ; ;

Even now, if i was a non-partial bystander, id think Bastok would be the most newb friendly place to start, because its so simple, Gustaberg is a great leveling area for new jobs (its where ive gone for almost every job 1-10, even after airship access and all that jazz), and just as simple a walk to the dunes as Sandy would make me think that Bastok would be the 2nd most popular. Guess not eh?...

Tim, I think that the vast majority of new players don't really care about the nation they pick, so they just go with the first on the list, San d'Oria. Since your nation has practically no bearing on your playing and you can change your nation if you want, the nation you start with doesn't matter all that much. Although I agree with you about the leveling new jobs in Bastok, I tried sandy and windy, and within 20 minutes, I was warping back to Bastok to get some real leveling in.

I freak out when my +50 MP neckless don't work. cuase it hardly ever happens.

Just a pain to get all outpost supplys done, only down side to switch country and back.

Exactly, I get pissed when Bastok takes sky and my Intruder's becomes worthless.

Why is Bastok last? From my own experience, Bastok puts out a greater number of tank jobs (first to die and lose regional standing for their nation) and DD jobs (normally second to die), and a far lesser number of mages (last to die if at all). Sandy is a powerhouse simply because it's the most populous. Windy, IMO, puts out the greatest number of mages (last to die if at all), and while it might not gain as much regional influence as Sandy because it's smaller, it loses less because its citizens die less often.

Y'all can have your first and second place. We got Cid =P

windurst isn't as scary as everyone portrays... it's not that overlarge, it's more classic adventure than bastok and it's a little more home town feeling than sandoria. it's friendly and fun. the missions are MUCH more involving, it has a more classic FF story line than bastok or sandy.... speak as bastokans may of preferring last place it really rubs them wrong. simple fact is that bastok is a hole in a wasteland. ^^; the bastards and their mistreatment of galka..... never forgiven or forgotten. been all 3, Windurst just owns them. san d'oria is even superior. of course, i've had a few pints already tonight...

I spend a fair bit of time in Bastok levelling GS... they seem to spend most of their time arguing about anything rather than fighting mobs... it sucks too, because when Bastok is at least secont the merchants sell GP items really cheap ; ;

The bastok-conquest issue will remain a bit of a mystery. There isn't enough data to confirm why they come third more often than not.

But meh... who cares? You Bastokian folks claim victory when you come first ("hurrah, we beat you l0zers") of third ("Yes! Our grand plan to make our CP latents work proved successful!"), so it's all good.

Exactly. I chose Sandy b/c it seemed like it was an established city. I assumed that meant access to more things. Windy seemed like a village, and didn't seem like a good place for a melee to start. Bastok seemed very plain, and I think Galka are ugly as fook so I didn't want to look at them everywhere I went.

I wish I chose Windy now b/c of the guilds I've chosen, but not many think that far ahead when they start the game.
