Well, sort of....you see, if anyone here is a fan of the original Batman Animated Series on Fox, or the WB's last season with the new Robin, or the Superman cartoon that was shown Saturdays and then weekdays, and then there's Batman Beyond, or even Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, you should know the name Kevin Conroy. He's been the voice of Batman since 1992, and has been playing the role for 14 years now, all the way till the recent last episode of Justice League Unlimited. With the end of that series, it seems doubtful we'll ever see that interpertation of Batman ever again.

And honestly, I think it's the last time we'll see a great action animation show based on a US character for years to come. Everything now is anime, or been dumbed down for the younger generation (look at "The Batman" on WB now, they ruined the character and villians). America still produces some great animated shows, but they're all comedy based, most action shows are left to japanese anime and just dubbed here.

So if anyone wants to see quite possibly the best comic book character adaptation to TV ever, try to get your hands on Batman: TAS, or the recent Justice League DVD box set. And maybe I shouldn't be saying this, but make sure to catch the last season of JLU, either on Demand, through Torrents, whatever, it was probably the best season of any american cartoon show I've seen in years. It sucks that we'll probably never see Kevin do Batman again, but he was the best, and I think always will be.

Ah, Batman the Animated Series. I remember all the toys I had that was based off that series damn near 13 years ago. Truly good times.

Batman: TAS is great. I used to watch it all the time, and I keep telling myself I need to buy the DVDs. I agree with you: Conroy is Batman.

It's funny. Neyla and I were rating the actors who played the assorted Batman villains while we were waiting for X-Men to start the other day. We never got around to debating Batman himself.

that article made it seem superman died.. was it batman or superman? If superman I shall be happy and laugh and dance on his grave D: :P

There was a comic book that was about the death of superman. I can't remember it for the life of me though for it was so long ago when I saw it. I don't even remember the name of the villian that killed him.

Spoiler!

Good God. I thought you were going to tell us Kevin Conroy died. X(

When it comes to animated Batman, he is Batman to me. And Mark Hamil is Joker. Done deal.

Justice League Season 2 is slated for June 20, Unlimited right now only has 1 DVD with a few stand-alone episodes, no release date for the actual 1st season that I know of yet.

BTW: The villian who killed Superman was Doomsday, who makes 2 appearances throughout the JL-JLU series. Best villian hands down throughout the full series run is the Joker, who sadly enough does not appear in the third season, due to licensing issues between JLU and "The Batman" cartoon, no Batman villians were allowed in the 3rd season. Dunno if that's correct or not, but I've heard various people bring it up...

If you saw the 3rd season, Mark Hamill was also the voice of the Trickster in the 5th episode dedicated to the Flash. One of the funniest scenes ever in a show:

You got me again Flash!

I liked Mark Hammil as the Joker, however Cesar Romero will always be the true Joker to me. Hammil is the best voice though, I agree.

Hammil also provided the voice for Wolverine in Wolverine's Revenge, and he was the voice of Hobgoblin in the Spiderman cartoon, I think.

Thats all I can think of, I'm sure he's had tons of other voice acting roles, can anyone else name some others he's done?

not trying to hijack th thread, I'm just curious.

I love Batman TAS, definately the truest adaptation of the Dark Knight yet. Batman Mask of the Phantasm is by far the best bat-flick.

As far as new american shows, I'm really diggin on Avatar.

"Why are you named Cockknocker?"

"Well, that's a really funny story, you see... *hits Jay in the balls and laughs evilly*"

"uhhh... avenge me... hemp knight"

XD

I love anime, but american cartoon was always nice to but with the new spins that these show are taking heros it just seems like something is missing. /sigh misses the old saturday cartoon i grew up to. Even these movies like spiderman, x-men, silent hill, dare devil while they was great movies still i belive do not give there comic/tv conterparts the respect they deserve. Doing a full 180 from the oridginal story lines. (though at least the had better directors then alone in the dark, blood raiyn[very big disappointment had high hope for that film], and house of the dead[the director of this film should be shot])

Agreed. On all points.

All those VA's pretty much made the characters in the last decade and a half. Hopefully some new show springs up sometime using them and the heroes they play.
