The forthcoming minor version update will usher in a host of battle-related refinements, including increased experience point yield and eased skill gain conditions.

Increased Experience Point Yield
The amount of experience points obtained by defeating monsters in non-Abyssea areas will be revised across the board. For instance, defeating an "Even Match" foe will yield roughly double the current amount of experience points. This adjustment will also benefit dragoon wyverns and adventuring fellow NPCs.

Eased Skill Gain Conditions
At present, only by fighting foes rated "Even Match" or stronger can players raise their combat and magic skills to their upper limits. With the February version update, however, this requirement will be reduced to "Decent Challenge." Further, players will find that actions targeting themselves or party members will raise the corresponding skill at a faster rate. Once these changes come into effect, players can expect larger figures to accompany each rise in skill. Puppetmasters should also be pleased to know that automatons, too, will benefit from this adjustment.

ok i am seriously thinking about stepping back into this game. even if it just for a spell.

This makes it so much easier to solo lower level jobs... Wow.

Which is good, because Abyssea fucking MURDERED pre-75 partying. This will truly give people a better option for lower level jobs.

LOL!!
Yea the game is a lot easier now. almost everything can be solo'd, no need for party's and this just adds to the solo..

It's funny when people say this, almost everything really can't be solo'd. Nin/dnc and Dnc/nin can solo alot of abyssea, and get shit drops because they cant proc, but outside that not really many jobs can. You'll generally need at least a trio of (skilled/decently geared) players to kill most harder nm's, and in addition to that you need the correct jobs to proc red/blue/yellow.

Almost all NM runs I go on for atmas or even for NMs outside of abyssea, most groups try and get nearly a full alliance for or at least a two pty alliance as a safety net, better availability for procs, and faster/easier kills.

As for today's update.. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't remove the cap lvls for the other quests like eco-warrior and return to the depth since those can't quite be solo'd while under lvl cap. Those still remain a bit challenging if you need a challenge.

<3 you, Sho XD

So . . . anyone think there's a market for an Admiral Akbar alarm clock that plays that plays this?
it has never ceased to amaze me at how immortal those three words have become. lol

Anyone want to duo with my 24 RDM after updates are done? I'm down for some decent challenge skill chains.

Well what most people do is level to 30 outside (aby req. is 30) then build a aby ally for exp on dominion ops and keywhore chests till 90. Takes maybe 15 hours to get 30-90. But if you wanna feel hardcore you can do it the old fashion way and pt or solo/duo.

are you fucking serious? reminds me of the cow stage lvling on Diablo 2. Just sit in the stage on hell difficulty and have some high lvl person clear the area. you'll be 70 in like an hour.

Yep. If you're willing to exploit the laziness of others, getting to 90 is basically the work of a few afternoons. I operate under the strong suspicion that Abyssea's purpose was to essentially level the playing field between the various groups of players and how much time they have available to play. Now every job should be capped on merits, you can have pretty much any job to any level you want in fairly short order with some modest effort, and while gear isn't exactly given away for free, AF3 sets are surprisingly easy to assemble at the +1 level, and not terribly hard for the +2, depending on the popularity of the requisite NMs.

The real question, at this point, is what they're going to do with the last 9 levels that have yet to be revealed. I know a lot of people are hoping to end the easymode of Abyssea now that everyone has had their chance to catch up.

the first time they made lvling to easy was when they brought in ToAU. now it looks like they said "fuck it, it worked before" and did it again.

This is nothing like ToAU. At least in Aht Urgan, you had a handful of decent merit camps, where you needed a decent setup to succeed, and you had maybe 72 people on the server who could be acquiring merit points at a decent clip at a time thanks to the limitations of space, camps, and mob spawn rates.

In Abyssea, you gain experience points as an alliance at a rate faster than you'd ever see in ToAU. 100k/hr kind of fast without any particular effort, and you can do this on a massive scale.

I could see SE implementing something that nerfs Abyssea XP for characters beyond a certain level (maybe force more difficult leveling from 95-99?)

I expect the easymode exp will continue, really, but the hope is that the NMs will get rather more challenging. Given that almost anything in Abyssea can be low-manned without too much difficulty, it's not too surprising that a lot of people are looking for more of a challenge.

yeah they'll probably leave it in place. taking away abuse-able material makes the crybabies come out. lol
