I realize that certain jobs are virtually necessary for BCNM (BRD for sleep, etc.), but I've been thinking, and I am a bit troubled.

Would a PLD have any place in a BCNM party? I suppose Invincible would be nice to grab hate and let people heal, but I'd probably get toasted once it wore off.

Just wondering. :)

P.S. I have a really nice LS so even if I were worthless they might let me join in one anyway, once I get high enough. ^^ lol

Hehe yeah, we probably would, 'cause Vet's cool. ^_~ But i have a question, too. Has anyone tried the new BCNMs (20 and 30) yet? If so, what are they like (types of mobs you have to face, drops, difficulty, etc.)?

Plds are very necessary as tanks in BCNMs. It's awesome if you're having trouble to use Invincible and grab all the hate in the room to let the bard have a chance to use Foe Lulliby or whatever.

I know some details, but from what people have said they're also extremely hard. You can only go in with 3 people, so your team options are now cut in half. BRD still seems like a staple, I heard some have multiple enemies, I think one has just one enemy, but I forget if it's 20 or 30.

As for the original poster, yeah, PLD is a great option in BCNM, sometimes people will not need them, if they really know what they're doing, but a PLD can quickly get the team outta a tight spot if something goes wrong. Don't worry, you'll be invited just fine with a PLD, as long as your sub is WAR....

I am doing BCNM 40 this Tuesday, and Not only is a BRD a staple, but so is a DRK for this because of Stun. There are a total 7 enemies that need to be defeated, six are regular Madragoras, and the 7th is a very large black madragora. If the large one has an opportunity to cast his special "flood" it will destroy whom ever has the hate at the time....most likely the PLD. I have to basically have my finger on the trigger with stun, because the using of the special "flood" is completely random.

Malakai is correct..

I've been in 4 bcnm 40 matches and lost every single one.. and I know why!

We had a PLD tank, which is very necessary, but we lacked a DRK or RNG to deal big damage..

Three of our attempts were "close".. because once the black one is dead, the other ones are not too much trouble. We have yet to defeat the black mandy before somebody gets taken out.. and that usually ends up being either the PLD or me (brd). One time our WHM died... in any case, party creation is probably the most important part of BCNM 40.. the other main is that everybody knows their job and performs it flawlessly.

Flood destroys people! Also paralyze can destroy your chances too. I have been setting up a new page of macro's just for bcnm fights so I don't have to move around page to page to get what I need. Water carol and Paralyna are 2 biggies for that list.. besides the obvious cures and sleeps.

my record is 23 wins, 5 losses, for BCNM40 giddeus. 3 of the losses were my 3 first tries; the other two were flukes like the brd or the healer(s) getting disconnected. so i'll address some concerns:

1. for a non-bst PT, the most important member is the brd.
2. the second-most important member is the healer, whether this be a rdm or whm.
3. once that core is formed, all you need are damage dealers. pld adds safety but takes away killing power.
4. flood is quite easy to handle. read below.

my best PT for this was BRD, RDM, RNG, RNG, DRG, DRK. we buffed before entering the burning circle; the RDM was around 60 so buffing beforehand allows him to use the higher level spells. the BRD and i (DRK) ate fish mithkabobs, RDM ate apple pie +1, everyone else ate meat mithkabobs. we moved up to the walkway, used the short-timer buffs, then i ran in first and voked the dvorovoi (black mandora). brd was right behind me and slept all the mandoras. once brd had hate for all the white mandoras, i pulled the black one away, to the far end of the arena. when flood begins, i stun and weapon bash then run to the entrance of the burning circle, while the brd uses foe lullaby and the other mage uses elemental seal + silence. using this method, no one has ever been hit by flood, even if flood is the first thing the black mandora uses. the damage dealers go nuts, and we kill the white mandoras one at a time. once you get it down, it's very, very easy. with that PT, my record time was around 12 minutes, average time was 13-15 minutes. with a PT of BRD, WHM, BLM, MNK, DRK, PLD, our time averaged 22-28 minutes depending on if anything went wrong, if anyone died, etc.

if you have 40 seals and you need a PT, send a POL msg to me, and i can try to set you up with a PT. just let me know time available, job lvl, amount of seals, and if you have any other PT members already.

Wish my record was better.. LOL

Didn't have any DRK's or RNG's any of the times I went.. or BLM's now that I think about it and that's why we lost, I'm sure.. oh and cause our silencers didn't do a good job at keeping him silenced..
