Hello peeps.

I am for all intents and purposes a newbie to a lot of things that happen in Vana'diel, one of these being BCNMs. I want to have the Erase spell for my WHM ready for when I get to 32, and I hear the best was is to get it from BCNM40. So I am going to take BLM to 40 first so I can do the BCNM.

So far the things that I know are:
-I need 40 Beastman Seals to get the orb needed to enter the BCNM
-If youre doing a run with many people you all bring an orb so it can be done once per person
-Strategies to do them (The internet is your friend)

However the mechanics of groups/rewards for doing them eludes me.

Stuff like:
-Do you only need one orb per BCNM run regardless of how many people enter?
-Does the loot enter the party pool like normal or does it go to the person who used the orb?
-How is the loot usually divided up in BCNM runs?

If anyone can enlighten me on any of this it would be appreciated.

However my main question is, if I went on a BCNM40 run with some people with the aim of getting my hands on an Erase scroll, how would it work out? (talking about normal, average people, not arseholes only out to steal everyone's loot)
Would it be possible for me to get the Erase scroll if it drops or would people want to sell it and split the cost? If I do get the Erase scroll, would that be the only loot I would expect to get? If not, how would it be skewed?

Sorry if this sound s a bit newbish, but I honestly have no idea how much the loot you can get is worth.

Thanks in advance,
Gal

-Do you only need one orb per BCNM run regardless of how many people enter?
Just one per run, which usually means everyone brings an orb so you can do multiple runs (baring wipe-with-no-reraise, of course)

-Does the loot enter the party pool like normal or does it go to the person who used the orb?
Party pool like normal.

-How is the loot usually divided up in BCNM runs?
Lots, pre-agreed claims, even split, just depends on your group.

Personally, I let each person make a 'job claim' if they want to, like you and your Erase. If it were to drop, you'd forfit all other loot claim for that one scroll. I'd assume other people do something the same, but what do I know? Some people are ridiculously greedy. (So don't go with them. >.>)

to set this strait for you, there is only one fair way to split the loot and that is to have one person, or multiple depending on how much loot you got, sell it off and then send a 6th of the gil to each involved person.

in regards to job specific drops such as erase, one of the reasons many whm join a bcnm, normally I get a consensis to the let whm buy it at a low price form the group or if the haul is amazing, since i normally do it with good friends we let the people take the drops they NEED and get gil from the rest

another, much worse way to do it is, "Your orb, your loot." this works in that each person goes through and uses their orb and they recieve, for better or worse the contents of their orbs. but this way is unfair in that they make an equal contribution to the success of all orbs and they can walk out with 30k while you walk away with 800k. this way can be utter BULL but it can also be good if everyone hits decent. also, if someone F*cks up and you lose on your orb? you get screwed.

Extended informations :
- first go to the NPC in Port Jeuno and trade him a number of beastmen's seals equal to the BCNM level (40 for BCNM 40... sounds logical)
- find the Burning Circle. For exemple, in Palborough Mines, the Waughroon Shrine (where you'll find one of the BC) is located on the bottom left part of the map, under the "burn".
- once everyone's ready, do a random to decide who will go first with his orb.
- trade one orb and select the BCNM you want to do (becareful because there are now 2 BCNM per level, one with a 6ppl party, one with a 3ppl party).
- once it's traded, your partners click on the BC and get teleported to the arena.
- kick the mobs hard and a crate will appear.
- let someone click on it and you'll be teleported outside.

At this point it's up to you : lot on the items in the treasure pool or "quatermater" them! But do not zone without lotting on everything and take an eye on the "Rare" items. You cannot carry more than one so plan accordingly and divide the loot.

One last thing, your orb will stay in your backpack but it's broken so trade it back to the NPC for some Jeuno fame :)

RATE UP IF YOU FIND IT USEFUL

Note that Erase is a rather rare drop - so far I've won 11 of the mandy BCNMs and saw 3 Erase scrolls drop.

Anyway, when you open the chest, the six items (yes, there are six) go into the treasure pool. Usually, three of the items are pretty crappy (gems, beastcoins, etc), 1-3 two are decent (such as some rarely-used equipment, or common scrolls), and 0-2 are the rare money items (such as expensive scrolls or popular equipment). Everyone in the party also gets 3k gil from the BCNM40's (not much, but when you win 6 runs, that's an instant 18k per person on top of the items).

And since I'm nice, I'll give you a strategy overview:

Party setup: BRD, healer x2, DD x3, at least one DRK recommended for stopping Flood. Tanks are not needed here - the mandies hit weak.

Strategy: Eat food before entering. Buff up with Pro/Shell and have all WHMs use Reraise, then rest up. BRD runs towards the mandies and stops to cast Foe Lullabye on the black one as soon as he's in range. The three DDs and one of the healers fight the black mandy while the BRD casts Horde Lullabye on the horde of white mandies. The second healer works on healing the BRD. When the black mandy dies, one person pulls a white one from the BRD and the party kills it. Repeat until all 7 white mandies die.

Notes: The black mandy can cast spells. The main ones to watch out for are paralyzega and flood. Flood will kill just about anyone in one hit, so you need to be able to either Silence, Stun, or Sleep the black mandy if it starts to cast Flood. Since you might need to Sleep it to stop casting, don't use any DoT spells on it. Also, fight the mandies away from the BRD - if Sleepga hits the BRD or the BRD's healer, things can go wrong fast. Also, the BRD should use either a VIT+ or a Defense+ song and wear defensive gear/eat defensive food. Finally, note that it's usually possible for the BRD's healer to rest for 1-2 ticks between mandy sleep cycles - since the fight can last over 20 minutes, it's a good idea to do that.

I have done the Steamed Sprouts BCNM using a rendition of the strat that Sethala posted with success. There are other ways to skin this cat, but the one posted has had the most consistent result.
