Beastmaster and Skadi

Contrary to popular belief, we actually do not spend most of our time running away from mobs. :P

Just had to say this made me seriously LOL for some reason. Are you trying to get me in trouble at work?? :nono:

The Skadi set as a whole is unimpressive to me. The head is total junk, and the hands, while nice, just dont stack up to S.Kotes for me. And the feet seem marginal outside the movement+

But, looking at it piece by piece, the Body and Legs stand out as "Ok, i need these by yesterday."

As a set, its probably the only one that has no advantage to wearing all 5 pieces at once.

I'll merit BST affinity once I am done with combat, crits and str. Because I solo and I duo, I haven't been in an exp pt (I mispelled this as pet btw...) on bst since lvl 14 to lvl 15. So really what is the point of me meritting it? So I can beg to be in a merit party? Yeah, right, whatever. I'll toss a few in it maybe earlier just for helping with events but thats it til later. Hell, I'd probably dropped some merits in Killer Effects and Feral Howl first.

BTW Skaw, Sirius Axe really is BST hating imo. Because really how many of us are out killing Hydra. And those of us who are I am sure have another job at 75 that is probably still better in a party than us. I mean did you not tell me it was an ironic weapon? Besides, I can not really say hey great it is compared to other things already open to BST. I mean what about it in comparison to weapons like Juggernaut, Temperance Axe, Maneater, do the additional effects of these weapons mitigate the fact that the Sirius Axe has 53 base damage if you have to be in a partry, because I'd think the base damage yes would help DoT but we would hope more out of it in the WS department, but does it really bridge that gap between BST ws damage and Spike ws damage?

Really, you wouldn't compare it directly to any of those three axes you've listed. Because should you have one, you would have it take the mainhand slot indefinitely while in a party or alliance.

Or atleast, I would.

Well I am asking...does the benefit of the extra base damage going to overcome the tp gain, dot capabilities and etc of those axes in the long run. AND moreover is it going to make you more valuable on your BST in that alliance or would it make more sense for you to be on WAR or MNK or DRK ... hell or even DRG.

4-7 Damage is a pretty huge leap, more so when it's nearly an 8% boost over Maneater base, so I'd say it should do more in the long run. The higher maximum damage results in a higher base average, as well as weaponskill and critical hit caps. Attack only affects your average. Barring accuracy, yeah. In my opinion it should do better.

Base dmg is huge. I'd sacrifice some creamy stats for an extra 4-7 base.

Sirius? I thought bst was A+.

I remember doing the “Like the Wind” ENM with combos of Kodi Ambrosio and Dejan. I think at that time Dejan was the only one with maxed Affinity. His CC really out damaged our pets by a good substantial amount.

With just two upgrades in Affinity I can already see a big difference in Fungar as a DD replacement for CC…. at least against VT prey. But I see what you mean. When you mainly solo or duo, affinity holds little allure as an attribute. For all those all bst events, or hell, even just for farming the scorps in crawlers nest it’s really nice to have something affordable and somewhat near uncapped that doesn’t bubble shower the whole room.

I gotta agree with the Salvage gear though. I really want to do some salvage events, but the gear available for the bst job does not call to me in the slightest. I kinda feel the same way about the Khimaira gear. I really don’t know what they were thinking when they gave us that upgrade. Maybe they thought most bsts would prefer not to swap DD gear? Geez at least they could have made it more manly looking.

Says the dude I always see running around in the Bison set. Not that there's anything wrong with that. The stats certainly aren't great, but mithra a tarutaru are the only people who can pull the look off. (On the other hand, galka in bison body are the most frightening creatures in the game.)

Cool deal, yeah I'd believe it would just like to see. I guess my strong point is does it give you the necessary leap to be like look at his WAR and this BST (bst having sirius) who are fairly equaly geared and therefore either of them are going to be decent additions to this PT and then coming down to a matter of preference or area exping in. Instead of shit the only thing seeking is BST.

When I see a galka in bison I know they mean business. Truly a character to be reckoned with… all about his game play… none about his style :P

The Bison gear was just a warm up for when they introduce the BST-only Opaline Set.

I'm beastmaster myself lol. Check me sometime when I pass by you and my gears. You'll take your words back "no clue about the beastmaster job" hehe. Full Relics, Full Beast AF+1, Full God Set, Few adamans, and maybe some Heactomb later when all my members got it. I'm not#1 or the best in server but still up there somewhere. Tokim (BST for so long) is the strongest since she own the beast relic axe+juggernault and everything beast could ever have.

My merits on other jobs are carried over into my beast also. STR, DEX, Crit, Spell Interupt, Beast Affinity, Call beast, HP, MP, recast timer on other JAs. Still no where near doing big damage. What I mean by big damage ain't on regular mobs like decend to tough Goobues in tree or berserk Dhamels in BikiniBay, it's on IT exp mobs. Also if you fight NM, you're not going to melee the mob either. I did max out my beast, love this job.

I read some of the posts in this thread and am amazed how little I know about the job that I've taken to the brink of 75, and the game I've played for 3 years.

Maybe if I wasn't acting like an ass, and goofing off so often, I'd get a little more out of it. . . :D And I'd probably understand why I die so frequently! ;)

I am pretty sure Tokim doesn't own the Relic Axe Corv. I just checked ffxiah to see since they have relic listings and dint see it up there.

I know Cor knows the BST job as well as any of us probably, but I too would disagree about you statement about us as damage dealers. The main difference between us and a lot of DD jobs is that the ability to be a good DD is much more common amongst most jobs and is apparent at most levels where for BST it lies in really maximizing your capabilites and your level range (ie rampage to 65 when you have a decent ws and a viable jug pet). IE a BST becomes viable in most Meripos if they have alot of bst affinity and relic gloves, with funguar, a good tp setup and a great ws setup. And is arguably only viable as a full time DD in endgame with a good amount of god gear, sea gear, king gear and relic, or at least the best axes in the game.

EDIT: Btw, saying "I maxed out this job" is a bit condescending.

Tokim still missing 1 item in Xacabard from the animated weapon. I think that will be first relic axe across server. If you see her run around check that axe out, it's so amazing. lol All wars stare at that axe and be like why the hell SE give bst that kindda axe haha.

All that stuff, and you claim the job has "so low" DEX and STR? What kind of drugs are you doing. It's not top, but it's far from awful like you were complaining about.

I think it was at 61 on my WAR/NIN that I started having higher STR than my 75 BST/NIN. I would say that's pretty low.
