Well i was bored seeking earlier so i started to look around at stuff and i noticed a very interesting line of text in the notes for one of the NM that come to besiged. Now before you say anything i know that wiki is not the best place for information and thats why im posting it here to see if anyone can confirm or deny it being true.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Gulool_Ja_Ja

But in the second line of the description it states that if Ja ja is defeated then it will return to a level 1 besiged. However at the same time it also states that if the Nm is defeated it just wont appear in the next level 5 or higher besiged.

Now this peaked my interest and upon doing a little bit of research i couldnt find any information confirming or denying either of these points. What i did find however is a strange coincidence. What i noticed is that each one of the three zones have an Nm that heads besiged that spawns 4 helpers and everyone of them seem to be the leaders of their mercenary squads. First is mamook with Gulool Ja Ja, then Halvung with Gurfurlur the Menacing, and finally Medusa in Arrapago Reef. Perhaps if these were killed everyonce and a while we could keep the besiged level down instead of just getting barraged by constant lvl 8 besiged til we loose candy.

First thing i want to do tho is to confirm if the besiged level resets when these mobs are killed in their stronghold.

Problem is, those three aren't what make Level 5+ besieges hard. It's...

  • Mamool Ja:

Groundburst(Gained by every Mamool Ja eventually)
Ill Wind(Not too much damage, but dispels a buff and gets spammed)
    Fire Angon/Blazing Angon
Eidolic Qufeel Ja, makes multiple clones of himself
Strifelord Bokaal Ja, simultaneous Wyvern Summon in to Breath spam
Scalding Fofaal Ja, Groundburst from this guy destroys temporary items, and he summons the Hydra.

  • Trolls:

    Hammer-Go-Round(Especially during Mighty Strikes)
    Heat Wave
Erosion Dust(Extremely annoying) and Erratic Flutter(Super haste, makes tanking Wamoura impossible)
Killing Claw, if left unchecked and his Slaughterous Scorpions unengaged, they will just go around and 5 on 1 the Generals.
Vorjirzur the Valiant, and his abnormally high damage, even for Besieged.
Zurmurwur the Ruthless, intimidates players like Gration, and summons the Cerberus.

  • Undead:

    Belly Dance
Whatever the hell the move Acroliths do thats AoE
Moronic Mages and non-blunt wielding Melees that Melee Draugers, these retards are probably a bigger threat than the NMs.
Lamia No. 9, multiple Elementals that have very high melee damage.
Lamia No. 3, Additional Effect: Doom.
Lamia No. 2, All ranged attacks are AoE, ignore shadows, and hit sickeningly hard. Also summons the Khimaira.

Gulool Ja Ja, Gurfurlur, and Medusa are just kind of there, hogging up fighters. If those three were the hardest part of Besieged, we'd never lose. Our server has won Level 8s with <400 people several times. The aftermath is just disgusting, leaving us with very few, if any, NPCs.

That may be true skaw but of those 3 main NM werent there to distract half the zone because they're to dumb to kill other crap that can die we would definetly do alot better.

my point was also the fact that in the wiki pages on the Ja Ja it states that if he is killed in the stronghold it will drop back to a level 1 besiged

Those three are the bosses of the 3 beastmen strongholds they have nothing to do with beseiged really. They are part of ToAU story line too. Only thing is they depop when beseiged starts and repop as soon as it is over. They also supposedly respawn in their stronghold on Lv 5 beseiged in case some silly JP killed them. Kinda hard to verify since noone seems to kill them, and the requirement to fight them are too hard to be worth it.

Supposedly if they're killed outside besieged they won't spawn in the next besieged.

I went to read the wiki, the wording is as follows
FFXIclopedia said:
# Defeating this NM inside Mamook prevents them from appearing at the next level 5 or higher Mamool Ja Besieged battle.
# When Gulool Ja Ja is defeated next Mamool Ja Besieged will be reduced to level 1.

What I understand from the 2 sentences is this, if Gulool Ja Ja is defeated in Mamook while not in Besieged, he will not appear at the next besieged if it is Level 5 or higher.

If Gulool Ja Ja is defeated during Besieged, then the next Mamool Ja Besieged will be reduced to Level 1

Of course we won't know for sure if these claims are true till someone proves it.

I seem to recall a Besieged once shortly after they first introduced those big mega-boss type mobs, where the stars were aligned just right and we killed Gulool Ja Ja. We got an extra 200 xp at the end, and that was it. It did not lower the level of the besieged.

The "mega bosses" don't reduce subsequent Besieged levels if they're killed during Besieged - they just give an exp/IS bonus (and a piddly one at that for the effort needed to take them down). Possible that killing them outside Besieged may *reduce enemy forces* though and make it longer until they're built back up enough again.

But honestly, that's a really minuscule motivator for fighting them outside Besieged, where they're a pain to get to, a pain to fight, generally result in a fair number of deaths (which, being outside Besieged, incur exp loss), and don't drop anything all *that* interesting.
