This thread is to find out what are the best and most necessary blue spells to acquire as soon as possible. Let us lower level blue mages know what kind of damage and effects you higher lvl mages are getting from the spells, what should we not bother with, what mobs you are acquiring the spells from, and what kind of gear should we be using to maximize the spells taking effect? I've noticed some of my spells resisted sometimes and I want to know what stat is affecting that? If anyone would like to make a short summary of what spells to go for at what level that would be appreciated as well. Example: 1-8 get pollen, rabbit foot kick, metallic skin, asap then lvl 9-16 get helldive, head butt, Battle dance... maybe leave out queasyshroom because of it's high casting cost... these are not suggestions by the way so don't listen to me, just an example of what an answer to my question might look like.

Why not just get them all?

I hear it takes some time to learn certain spells, so I can understand prioritizing which ones to get first. I don't know if there's any helpful info on these pages, but these were posted in our LS forum:

Hope they help, but chances are every BLU in the game have seen these by now.

Edit: Dar's a crafty fellow. The BST weakness chart is something he uses religiously. He /echo's in mob weaknesses on every BLU spell he uses; thus, if he knows that funguar's are strong against a certain mob, he macro's "Strong to thismob thatmob theothermob" into every Queasyshroom cast.

Brilliant! I think.

You know BLU can learn {Self-Destruct}?

WTF. {Mijin Gakure} only with EXP cost? Ummm.....

Right now Radiant Breath. When I get hit with that on NIN at Site 01a my shadow timers are totally screwed, I'm silenced and at 50% health (silence, slow, 250-350 damage).

Great animation too for such a good spell.

I think Cocoon is disgusting, saw a SS of someone have 800 def with BLU sub (dunno main).

You should really try to get all of them, that way you can have a variety of spells to choose from based on what mob your fighting and what role you are in the party.

Yea, the types of mobs are gonna depend what spell to use, so if your missing even one spell, it can end up gimping you. I would get every single one.

Bludgeon is the single best damaging skill I have thus far at lvl 30.

And to answer your other question, your physical spells accuracy are based on the accuracy of your main-hand weapon. I think you can figure the rest out ^^

what I was gonna say.

no one has the good stuff yet, so we really don't know.

Get every blue magic spell you can. Remember that accuracy and damage are also in regards to mob family relationships - e.g. both Sheep Song and Soporific are AoE Sleep, but if you're fighting Beast or Plantoid-type mobs Soporific will land more often, and against Lizard and Vermin-type mobs Sheep Song is superior.

Most of them aren't terribly hard to get compared to their level, and taking an hour or so to farm the spells, for a lot of people, is preferred to spending tons of gil on scrolls.

you also still have to take elements into play. Soporific, a darkness spell like sleepga, will not take down some undead. However, sheep song, a light spell, will nock them out.
BLU is strong, but its complex as hell.

Sure I'll comment. No it's not mijan with xp loss.

It doesn't kill you, but it does leave you weakened.

Actually, it most likely will kill you. We can naturally assume that self-destruct will do a really large ammount of damage, but weakens you. If your weakened, you only have 1/5 (i think) of your max HP/MP. you'll have maybe 100 HP left, since your a BATTLE mage. That mob is looking at you, at a level 50+. You will either die or Altana REALLY likes you.
Edit: Funny idea. In ballista, go up to the mages in the back line while invisable, and cast self-destruct. If you nock over all 10, you get a strike :D It will be like bowling!
