Best starting nation?

A mithra might get to enjoy 1-2% more accuacy than an elvaan because of their dex, but that's not a big deal even at lower levels. The only real difference race plays in the game besides looks(elvaans = stupid looking) and hp/mp is the different stats on RSE gear, which could effect what gear you buy. From a purely stats perspective, Elvaan and Galka are the best options for monk; however that doesn't matter all that much. I've outparsed both elvaan and galkas wearing the same gear as a mithra.
Exactly my point, every little bit that makes a race a race affects the race's ability to perform a certain task.

It's an insignificant increase; the only time that race actually matters is looking to hp/mp and RSE gear. The rest of the stats are all but irrelevent.

I'm not that big a fan of THF, it was just an experiment on my first serious playthrough. I'm gonna try BLM to 18, then RDM/BLM onwards. And see how that turns out. If Humes are the 'everyman' job, then surely RDM'd be like, their perfect job =D
I have a friend who's a level 75 summoner on QC, but he's not played in a while, otherwise i'd ask him for some advice. And probably get some sarcastic backlash. haha.

I just reregged again. Got Titan this time. Wee! How many servers are there? I've gotta hit QC eventually.

Perhaps I should not be saying this, but a basic race's stats may determine the race's accuracy in the long run. Elv have a low dex, and in turn have low accuracy. It is to my understanding that the BASE of the race's stats determine its overall function, and the additional modifiers added by food/gear to basic stats have a smaller effect. The only way gear adds to the main ability is if its a core ACC modifier or a main Attack modifier. Dex ensures a higher Sneak attack, seeing as he likes thief, so it would only be logical to choose a race who naturally has higher dex.

There is no "Racial Accuracy." Get over it, quit listening to Allakhazam and Killing Ifrit. It's just something subpar equipped Elvaan players tell themselves so they don't get mocked.

Your right about DEX and THF. Wrong about how it makes a difference in accuracy. Race stats should compliment the job your thinking of spending most of the time on. STR and VIT being the two modifier stats for hand to hand weaponskills, and MND being the core attribute for Chi Blast damage makes Elvaan the winner for MNK. This is why Taru also makes the worst possible MNK, being subpar/absolutely horrible in those three staple attributes. Ofcourse, that doesn't mean they can't be good MNKs, they will just lag behind in the overall numbers a bit.

Windurst has WARP TARU'S FOR THE WIN! ^^ Plus once you are rank 6? You can buy the windurst ring with CP. Got mine Elvaan with windy ring! ^^ + like Kimberely says: "I'm pround to be from a town full of midgets and pussy's" + the Windurst music is by far the best of the 3 nations + Windurst is usually the #1 nation = WINDURST FOR THE WIN! ^^

Aha, but i'm playing on x360. So basically no matter where I go to play, it's still gonna be DCFC or BMTH in the background.

Anything.

But.

Those.

Damn.

Bagpipes.

Well... I am Scottish! ^^
That's no excuse.

I think I'm gonna give up on trying to get on QC WPless now. I got Seraph for the 7th time in a row just now, and I'm pretty sure I can recite the Bastok opening sequences word for word. I'll wait for someone to feel charitable. Baha. The Bastok music is quite pleasent though. And I must admit I did say wow when I saw the airship fly in. How easily amused I am.

I can get you a world pass later on, I'm just busy atm or I'd go now.

I think I might go to bed actually. It's like quarter to one. And I'm stuck on N3, so i can't really see any reason to stay awake. I'll PM you tommorrow if i still need one though =D thanks.

night night.

Thanks for all the help. I think I'm gonna go for Bastok, guys.

Honestly I think you should pick race first and foremost for looks - for example, if you want INT and MP but the notion of being a cute bouncy childlike creature gives you nightmares, then for all that you may want that INT and MP, you probably shouldn't be a taru for all that the stats may interest you.

If you don't care about appearance, *then* decide based on stats. But go by appearance first. You're permanently stuck with what you look like (and usually its backside too), but you may one day change your mind about the job(s) that interest you, which makes the whole point of picking a race for its stats invalid. It may even make it harmful, if you do a total 180 in your job choice.

If you do decide by stats, I'd say to decide first by HP/MP, then by STR/INT, then by DEX/AGI/VIT/MND, and ignore CHR entirely. Racial DEX differences frankly make more of an issue with critical hit rates than they ever do with accuracy.

Country? Go for the free ring depending on what race you start as. If you're more interested in another country's mission storyline you can switch allegiance later on. And if you want another country's shops or town layout or lowbie area or something ... just *walk* there. Otherwise, outside of a few, uh, "thematic" linkshells, nobody really cares much about your allegiance because it doesn't really matter. :P

I'm lazy and didn't read the other posts so if this was said, great.

Chose what town you want your home town to be, period. I dont think any one nation is eaiser to lvl 1-10 in and really it shouldn't matter. You can get the ring in any nation with 4k CP so that shouldn't matter either. Basically chose the town you like to spend your time in, since other then that it really doesn't matter.

If you really don't care at all about what your nation is you just want the benefits, i would tell you to chose windy. As sad as it is they are in 1st most of the time, meaning you can get better CP items and more OP warps quicker. Make sure you chose one you'll stay with though becuase once you get some OP warps, a decent rank and some good CP switching will blow huge nuts.

So pick which one you like best, if you don't have a preference i would suggest windy. Also you don't really gain anything from being a certin race in a town since like i said you can get the town ring at 4k CP.

Easy peasy leveling there, always plenty of mobs. Or there used to be when I played

Sounds like every nation's immediate surrounding zones.

I think Vilurum said it best; chose based on appearance first and stats last. In this game you can change jobs readily at almost any town and since most players chose a wide variety of jobs never really settling on one, it's almost pointless to chose one stat to excell in over another. Stats are so minor in this game, that it's almost not even noticeable. Don't get me wrong, you will notice strengths and weaknesses for any race, but you can very easily compensate for it with good gear. The only stats you should really ever worry about are combinations of the race with lowest with a job that requires the highest. Something like a Taru PLD which needs high HP, but has the lowest or a Galka mage which would lack any MP. Again, it's very possible to compensate for these shortcomings, but the more you need to compensate for, the more expensive it will be.

As for a starting nation, I prefer Windurst because of the atmosphere. It's a lot more soothing and just feels friendlier than any other nation. Maybe it's the all the trees or being with all the Mithra NPC (I'm a mithra myself), but it's just feels like home to me. I used to be a member of Bastok, but it's just so boring and drab along with the outside areas. San'dOria is by means the last choice for me just because it's home to the elvaan. Don't know what it is, but those arrogant NPCs bother me something fierce.

I think we can all agree on San d'Oria sucking as a city. Bastok rocks though, even if the surrounding areas are too bland for most people. It has the best city theme in my opinion, and it has a better lay out than Windurst. Never got confused going anywhere in Bastok.

Bastok suck because you gotta run a long arse way to get to Konstacht Highlands, lvlin is good but running is bad >< My vote is for sandy or windy

personally i think windurst > bastok > sandy

The mobs are worth more, causing your early leveling experiance to also be profitable. Silks/Fire Crystals/Wild Onions/bee chips are all available <3 and a very good revenue for lowbies. Money asside, i simply prefer the mob types in the area...

Windurst isn't hard to navigate if you know how to use the warp tarus, and turn in your flower, which is really the main complaint i ever hear about the area. IDK if you've played enough on your origional server to be familure with what i'm talking about, but i'm sure many people in windurst would be glad to help you figure it out if you don't know it.

The only legit complaint (imo) is that its far from the dunes... which is the main leveling area for 12 (10 sometimes) - 18ish. maze of shakhrami is a wonderful alternative though, and bubu isn't that bad either provided you have someone who knows the camps. There is always the ship ride to Selbina too, its not like you can't get to the dunes, its just a bit more difficult.
