best thing you found in the caskets

So when you finally get a chest to pop, can they be opened by anyone outside of your party aswell ?

and on that note, If they pop during a party will only one member be able to get the items?

Sounds like it would go into treasure pool a la appraisal, yes?
 
Would be nice to post areas too. I figure there's one Ra/EX equip per zone.

Obtaining xp isn't required for these to drop, correct? Simply killing monsters in these areas create a chance for a casket to drop?

from what it looks like from seeing posts by most people, drops are relevant to the area your in. seems that you arent going to get an item that would be way out of your lvl. this meaning gear of course.
hopefully, there is gear that is really worth keeping to use at lvl 75.

Probably not at first, since they're only testing the system out right now. They already said they were going to expand it in the future to other zones, I'd imagine the gear that you can obtain would be expanded too.
 
right, but what i mean is this...they arent going to drop something that is highly sought after, rare, high lvl, etc in a lvl 1 area. would they drop good/decent gear in xarc? i would imagine they would have better items there than they would in gustaberg. i cant wait to see more findings from others as well as what i stumble on.
for now, i dont have really high hopes at the moment after seeing the datamining.

hopefully that eyepatch will be in one?! yargh!

I'd imagine the level of an area guess would be correct. If it's expanded into the 60+ zones we may get to see gear worthwhile at 75. That will probably take a while though..though who knows, perhaps with the patch that adds the maze mongers.
 
Anyone think that the level of tries left after you open the chest effect the rarity of the item in the chest?
 
I'm fed up with these caskets. I highly suggest bringing along to give you an extra clue because sometime it's just what you need. I'm taking a break from them.
 
Yeah, se needs to fix em up a little bit.

I got 3 clues in a row out of 4 in beau that told me that 0 was the second digit.

Atm they leave you in dakr and just give you the general direction to stab at, but it's still stab in the dark =/

SE needs to make it so tht if you use all but one tries examining, the clues are 100% ability to pick it if you know what to do, but lwoers chance of nice item with each examine...

My first casket, which was a locked one, gave me 6 chances.

Valkurm Dunes
Locked: Rock Salt (My very first locked chest too!! Dang.)
Unlocked: Antidote, Echo Drops
Unlocked: Ether +1
Locked: Plegethon's Trouser's (sp). Level 15, forgot what jobs but I think mainly melee, DEF 10, STR+1. STR+5 in fire weather.
Unlocked: Ether +2, Ether +3

I also wonder if someone else not in my party can just open the chest.

No they can't I've seen lotsa of chests lieing around that JP's didn't bother with while they we're farming for WoTG items, and I couldn't do anything to them.

I guess now we look forward to seeking lot's of junk chests littering the low level areas whenever some doesn't wanna bother opening it. lol
