Not quite sure on that. Once you unlock the chest it become like a normal chest like in nyzul. who ever take the item out the chest will most likely get.

got silver ore from bubu
potion, antidote x2, flint stone from konschtat
potion +2 from pashow

blue boxs found everything ranging from sneak oils to elixers to dusty wings.
 
I love how the lock picking tool prices jumped up tho :)
 
those work on these things?

lol time to get a new key ring belt.
 
I'm pretty sure SE mentioned either figuring out the code or switching to thf, or having a thf do it.

The keys give you an extra clue free of charge, not pop them right open.
 
The cost of tools is no way worth attempting to unlock the chest, even if it's one extra clue. As unique as the gear is, and the potential chance of some lower than average crafting items, I don't think it justifies the cost. Your game however, but it's more fun trying to guess.

Not when you get the same clue 3 times in a row =/

Personally, I'd get my clues, and if the clues suck, pick it. If not, go for it.

Also it appears the higher level chests have less chance. 3 chests in beaucidine (going after that sexy neck piece) all gave me 4 chances instead of 5-6.

Any numbers on xarcabard yet?

No. Got a locked chest in Xarc Monday night and it gave me 6 chances.
 
I got a five-chancer and four-chancer in Xarcabard. Haven't checked starting areas, but if it's easier to get higher chances there I'd expect to get a six-chancer every other bawx.
 
Just to throw out a tip. Not sure if this has been mentioned already (I skipped 3 pages.. sorry >.<; ) but it's easier to start with 50 everytime. Either way your going to waste a chance figuring out a clue. If you put in 50 it usually tells you "Its between 50-99" or "Its between "10-50". You basically work from there, and it usually tells you a new clue everytime you do it. So like "The second digit has to be a 0" or "The second digit is an even number". This increases your odds of finding the actual number. 5 chances to guess a number between 1-99 is a little bit tough, imo. 6 chances should've been the standard.

Hmm, there may be a method...

First try its 1/100 (00-99)

Second it's 1/50 (00-50 or 51-99)

Third it's 25

Fourth its 12-13.

By then the hint is really helpful... i didn't know it tells you "it's higher/lower than your number"

Unlocked chests disappear in a short time if not used, not sure about locked.
