For those of you who would like to use the mouse but are frustrated by the current lag associated with it, give this a shot:
http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/13698/ffxiv-mouse-lag-fix/1/
I haven't tried it myself, but apparently it's by Cliff, who was part of the early stages of the FFXI Windower.

If you're like me and would like a more FFXI-esque full keyboard control scheme for FFXIV, I've found this to be helpful:
http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/13828-use-arrow-keys-as-camera-controls/
This allows the arrow keys to also input I/J/K/L, effectively mapping the default camera controls to the arrow keys. The Insert key toggles the function, as does the '-' key on the numpad for easy main menu control.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, if you prefered the pseudo-full screen (borderless) feeling without crashing one's game with every ALT+TAB or click on a second monitor, this allows effectively the same thing with a few clicks upon starting FFXIV. A few typical resolutions are included, as well as directions for making one's own if one's resolution isn't already supported.

Hope you find this as helpful as I have.
Enjoy!
