BG = Hacked

Umm, for those that don't use BG can you explain? <_<
 
So... did someone put pron on the front page? A picture of Fafnir taking a dump on [GM]Dave's head? Britney Spears looping in the background with no controls to stop it? Magical fairies prancing across the forums that change every instance of the word "mob" into "Rosie O'Donnell"?
 
That doesn't look like hacking to me... Just a server problem. Hackers are usually, y'know, like CmdrFly said. <.<
 
Websense'd. If I had some way to check it I would have.

Anyone know what they did? Pretty big FFXI site. Could do some sweet damage.
 
If it was a server problem, it'd be more likely you wouldn't be seeing the default message when there is no longer an index file of the directory. Infact, it probably wouldn't load.

Anyways, we'll find out soon enough.
 
Doesn't really matter anyway. BG always locks up on version update days and they won't let you in to view threads because they are getting spammed by so many people their bandwidth dies.

Kinda what I was thinking, though didnt' they get new servers specifically to handle that recently-ish?
 
Not sure, maybe. I still didnt plan on using their site today, I just assumed they took it down themselves for the day. Didnt think it was hacked lol

I'm sure their Mods backup the MySQL database locally on a weekly basis. Essentially that is all they need to restore the entire site with the exception of the last weeks worth of posts.

I'd be suprised if their hosting account info was compromised though. Most likely this is their way of forcing us to not eat up all their bandwidth searching for datamining threads, etc. We'll see I guess.

I believe they posted that the forum would not be available on he day of the update. In the past they where having leeches steal the info they find to post on other forums as well as killing there bandwidth.
