Bible Thumpers

The laws Jesus changed I am really unsure about. But I doubt he changed homsexuality. I am not a bible scholar but I try too do the best I can with what I have read of the bible. I also do alot of reading on other christian websites. What people are doing are looking for ways too make it look like its ok too go do it. Its still a sin.

Even though you believe he changed a lot of other things that weren't explicitly stated in the New Testament?

You believe it's a sin because you feel it's wrong, not because the Bible says it is. Christian websites do the exact same thing, using out-of-context mis-translated quotes from the Bible to "justify" the opinion.
 
Prime example of using the bible to justify a personal bias.

Are people supposed to argue with him on that? O.o If anyone really read what has been said lately, what he mentions follows in accord with what some of us have already mentioned, regarding the differences of the Old and New Testaments.

Still irritated by your irrational post though I know I shouldnt be. I know that I should just ignore your bigotry, your completely misguided views on women, and your ignorance of biology, history, and your own religion. But I cant.

First things first. If you believe your bible is holy writ. Then maybe you should FUCKING READ IT. You spend enough time listening to what people are writing on raptureready.orly soaking up bigotry like its your mothers milk from people who are probably just as ignorant as you are instead of actually reading what youre SUPPOSED to be following. You come here and start this thread on rapture, get owned in it by several people and you STILL fall back on your tired prejudices and looking to isolated bible passages with which to back it up and IGNORE CLEAR PROOF that youre wrong. You ignore clever allegories, you ignore bald faced explanations and you ignore statements from within the bible itself that specifically address the issue.

2nd, women biologically speaking are not mutations, men are. xx vs xy. We came first, deal with it. Also theres more differences than that we have a uterus, most not understood or known to the people who wrote the bible and which have no connection to childbearing at all. For instance, we have more rods and cones in our eyes, and can see more colors. That probably helps us pick out penii in a lineup? Please. Learn something about the world you live in.

3rd. homosexuality is a choice? Whens the last time you chose the person you found yourself falling in love with? Chalk love up to another thing you dont understand about the world.

4th. Stop parroting raptureready people's ideas as if they were yours, especially when you apparently cant argue or understand the base motivations behind them.

more like the common sense high ground. He's using a book to justify bigotry that he hasnt even read. Hes making statements about women and sexuality that are based on that bigotry, and hes ignoring anything else. None of that is me taking the "moral high ground"

p.s. does taking the moral high ground add a +2 attack modifier?

Not an arguement. Woman is an English word, not the original word of the language that the bible was written in. Unless you find the concrete Jewish word, I can't consider this an arguement for anything. Just like Christ stems off the Greek word kryois, which was used to describe the diety's within the Greek religion.

Also, while woman do have the ability to concieve a child, it's impossible for you to say that a woman is born with the innate ability to take care of the baby.

I promised myself I would not post in this thread again (I desperately want it to just die at this point), but I had to the point the following out:



DodgeRoadRage's woefully foolish reasoning is also flawed on a pure genetic, biological basis. Even a general practice physician worth his/her salt, let alone a gynecologist specializing in pregnancy, can tell you that the "default" gender for humanity seems to be female. We all begin developmentally as females. Any and all human embryos would develop as female, if left to themselves.

There is a specific hormonal "trigger" that induces an embryo's gonads to develop into testes, rather than ovaries, that occurs in males. Without that trigger, we would all be female ... there is no "girl" counterpart trigger. It's something specifically built into y-chromosome sperm.

What's more, sometimes, for some reason or other, this "trigger" fails to fire exactly as it should, or not at all. The result? An XY female. Yes, they exist, and more commonly than you think. In some cases, it's obvious that something went wrong (a so-called "hermaphrodite"), but in others, many go their entire lives not knowing that they were "meant" to be male. In fact, my old biology teacher once told me that the profession with the single greatest concentration of XY women was supermodeling ... I think he was pulling my leg, though.

The point is, without that special trigger, without the client's customzied order, the factory will simply resort to the default setting: GIRL.




For those who don't wish to read all that, here it is, simply put: from a scientific standpoint, the notion that women are "altered men" is utter hogwash. If anything, observation shows the EXACT OPPOSITE to be the case.

Meh that's what I make of it, well pretty much. I had the exact english translation in a piece of college work.

Its not about the nazis. Its about standing up against wrong, even if you're not specifically the target.

Agreed. I thought it was pretty obvious to be honest. Good point. I can't stand people who wont stand up for what's right/what they believe in.
