My vast DVD collection feels kind of obsolete since i can't list it here.

Here's my Blue-Ray list:

- Spiderman 3

Hahahahaha, I hear ya.

My Blu-Ray list:

300
Troy (Director's cut)

I only own those two because of an Amazon buy one get one free deal. I don't even like 300.

I have a fuck ton of dvds, and I can't justify re-buying a movie I already own just because it will look better. The only exceptions would be Tarantino movies, Requiem for a Dream, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Fountain. I would re-buy the blu-ray versions of those movies, but that's probably it.

I'll pick up more blu-ray movies when I'm less poor. Definitely going to pick up No Country, There Will be Blood, and Speed Racer on blu-ray.

V for Vendetta I watched the Blue-ray this past weekend, amazing. I'll update with my list when I get home.

300
*American Psycho
Black Hawk Down
Casino Royale
*Chain Reaction
*Swordfish
Tears of the Sun
The Last Samurai
*The Prestige
*Ultraviolet

*Five free

Spiderman 3(Free with PS3)
Hellboy
Underworld
Pirates 3
Fantastic Four 2

That's pretty much it until probably Christmas when Iron Man comes out.

I'm not rebuying any of my current DVD library. Anything that was already on DVD before blu-ray isn't appreciably better on blu-ray since it was never filmed in high definition anyways.

I'm on the otherside of the fence as Baj, everything I've seen that's been remade is much much better. The Digital Audio alone is reason enough in itself to move up from the DVD versions.

Very true.

For a very long time they have been using super high quality film to make motion pictures. Quality that is so rich, it remains unmatched by DVD. (A 20 second strip of this film can cost as much as 15 grand.) The reason why they use such film is so it can look great on the big screen, and not blur out. What we get on VHS and DVD are lesser versions of the original, which is why a good number of older movies offer a high def experience on Blu-Ray.

I have:

Taladega Nights
The Corpse Bride
Mission Imposible III
Kung Fu Hustle
Superman Returns
CASINO ROYALE
300
TNMT
Justice League: The New Frontier
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead's Man Chest
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
The Game Plan
Enchanted

Waiting for:

Pootie Tang
Batman Begins (even thou I have the HDDVD version)
Transformers (same)
Iron Man
All the Animation on Blu-Ray they can throw at me (animation shines brighter on HD)^^

I'll say nothing quite matches the pure CGI films like Ratatouille for the Blu-ray improvement.

CG software rendering for the big screen is crazy.

As you'd know, when we take a digital image and scale it up, it will pix-late, and when projected it will pix-late and blur.

Because it's a software render, it's comprised of frames (Image files) that need to be made into a self contained movie before it goes off to editing. (Quicktime Pro can do this)

When they render our frames for 3D animated movies, 1 frame can be 3 to 6 gigs and beyond. That's just 1 frame. This is due to the size they need to render out the image for the big screen.

I found Monsters Inc. on DVD to look really vivid. It would probably looks amazing on Blu-Ray.

The color palette is bigger too and in animated flicks that's where part of the magic resides. The Monsters Inc movie is color goodness.

full metal jacket
the patriot
terminator 2
resident evil apocolypse
pirates of the carribean: curse of the black pearl
chain reaction
stir of echos

I got those same movies with that deal :3 Also got Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut, which is SOOO MUCH BETTER!!) and 28 Week's Later. Other than that, I don't have much :( I need money

And ya, I don't wanna buy a movie I already have on DVD, maybe trade it in.. the only exception was Kingdom of Heaven lol.. cause I have the director's cut on Blu-Ray and the other on DVD :P
