Bio and Dia?

Bio and Dia will cancel each other out as far as I've seen... atleast on mobs. Bio and Poison or Dia and Poison are fine. Stupid game.. we can have Dia and BIo on us.. but it doesn't work that way for the mobs x.x

stupid double standards  but ya they do cancel each other

ok....ive heard all sorts of things about bio and dia. what i wanna know is do they cancel each other out or not?

No, they actually don't cancel each other...

Bio II > Dia II > Bio > Dia..

So Bio overwrites Dia, but not the other way around... (this is the Attack Down/ Defence Down traits and the DoT... thi initial Damage still occurs regardless...)

They don't exactly cancel each other ... To my knowledge anyways ... Its more like they overwrite each other.

Dia is defense down and a set damage per tick spell, Bio is strength down and damage per tick spell. Bio and Dia overwrite each other, so that the last spell cast is going to determine whether the mob is afflicted by stregnth or defense down. That's my understanding of it anyways. +_+;

EDIT: Nm, Court answered better I think. XD

eh.. same thing :P basically.. you can't have Dia and Bio on at the same time.

ya what elli said if you cast both the frist one you cast will go off

You can stack Bio or Dia(Go with Bio, does more DOT), Poison/II, and 3 of the 6 Elemental DoT and Stat Debuffs, nonconflicting elements, so Burn, Choke, and Shock will stack, for example.

But Dia also help DOT alot because melee hit considerably harder.

Depends on what you mean by considerably and what jobs your PT is comprised of.

Well I know when the mobs get dia i get anywhere for 10 to 20 more damage per shot and it brings my WS up 50 dmg.

Well there ya go, Junior. Two Handed weapons benefit more from defense down than onehanded weapons. Like I said. Depends on what your PT has. 8)

I can tell you right now, I won't notice any difference if somethings Dia'd and I punch it.

also 10-20 damage on what? If it's crossbow, thats great. If it's bow or gun, Bio III is outdamaging that bonus. That thing eats HP like the plague.... oh wait..

I think its less noticable with anything other than ranged attack because they are less consistent than Ratt. I can hit for 120 shot after shot on Professionaires. Without dia or def down bolts its more like 105. But with any other weapon especially H2H and dual wielded the dmg fluctuates from hit to hit. Defense down is defense down though so it applies to anyone meleeing the mob.

....except for the ones already pushing their max damage against a mobs DEF and needs VIT down. :?

Like... Monk, Axe Warrior, Beastmaster, Ninja, and Thief?

I mean if I used Staff in an EXP PT, I'd be all for Defense down! :P

welll....majority says they overwrite, so i guess ill go with that :( even tho i think thats one of the dumbest rules SE has come up with yet
thx everyone
It's not a dumb rule, it makes sense given how they have the elements set up. Just like with the elemental debuffs; they will overwrite if you cast one that is strong to an elemental debuff currently on the mob. Dia is basically light and Bio is dark, and they are strong and weak to each other.

What I have notice about Bio and Dia, while farming and sittin around bored I decided to play with it, is that they overwrite eachother. The best case I can say was probally the following in citadel.

If I would cast Dia then they would take the normal damage/second from dia and have defense down (hits jumped alittle in damage, maybe about 5 damage more a hit on average). Then I cast Bio on top of dia and suddenly I was hitting for the same damage before I cast dia but was taking alittle less damage (once again it only seemed to be about 5 damage less for each hit). Curious I cast Dia again, and once again its attacks taken and delt seemed to return to after I cast Dia the first time and before I cast Bio. The fight took awhile and I then noticed Bio wore off while Dia was still in effect, with Dia wearing off shortly after. With that I decided most likely both stack for damage/second but the status (defense down and attack down) goes to the last cast spell.

Oh and the Dia and Bio I was talking about were both tier 2, not 1. As for what I was fighting, beetles on the first floor of citadel before the banishing gate 1 when they were between easy and decent(it said easy but gave me like 45 exp).

I wish someone would just go into Ballista and make a video of all of the spells being cast on them in various order just to stop all of the confusion about these spells. Of course I'm sure many people would still swear by their beliefs even if they saw visual proof otherwise.
