Bio and Dia?

What Blowy said is right,

Bio II > Dia II > Bio > Dia

So Bio will overwrite Dia, but Dia wont overwrite Bi.o

yeah what Blowy said is correct. They overwrite eachother but do not stack, its a misconception people have. You cannot have two on at the same time. Someone said mobs can get bio and dia on you at the same time, that's also not correct. You can have only one on :p

This is correct

Dia I overwrites nothing
Bio I overwrites Dia I, but not Dia II or Bio II
Dia II will overwrite Dia I or Bio I, but not Bio II
Bio II overwrites Dia I, Bio I, and Dia II

If Bio I is cast on a mob, then Dia I, you will get the initial damage of Dia I, but the Bio I effect of att. down will remain. If, however, Dia II is then cast, you will get the initial damage and the defense down of Dia II will overwrite Bio I's att. down.

Get it? Certain spells overwrite other certain spells, but it's not a direct cancel or overwrite. It depends on which spell is being cast over the other.

Are you sure you can have three elemental debuffs up at the same time? I thought it capped at two.

Yes.

Yes, you can have 3 elemental debuffs up at once. The only requirement for stacking them is that the elements are all neutral to each other.

Fire > Ice > Aero > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire
Burn > Frost > Choke > Rasp > Shock > Drown > Burn

If they're next to each other, they don't stack. Possible combos are:
Shock + Frost
Drown + Choke
Burn + Rasp
Shock + Burn + Choke
Drown + Frost + Rasp

If you try to cast an ele. debuff whose element is stronger than an existing ele dubuff, it will overwrite. If you try casting a weaker one, it will have no effect.

Burn will overwrite Frost
Frost will overwrite Choke
Choke will overwrite Rasp
Rasp will overwrite Shock
Shock will overwrite Drown
Drown will overwrite Burn

Frost will have no effect if Burn is in place
Choke will have no effect if Frost is in place
Rasp will have no effect if Choke is in place
Shock will have no effect if Rasp is in place
Drown will have no effect if Shock is in place
Burn will have no effect if Drown is in place

Clear now?

I wish someone would just go into Ballista and make a video of all of the spells being cast on them in various order just to stop all of the confusion about these spells. Of course I'm sure many people would still swear by their beliefs even if they saw visual proof otherwise.

when cast on players it doesnt matter.

Tested this while bored with a BLM in Diorama. Had Bio and dia up, as well as all the elemental DoTs

Um... there is no double standard. Player's react the same way to bio and dia as mob's do. Goto Castle Oztroja or any Beastmen hold out and fight a Beastmen RDM/BLM/WHM and get the effects casted on you. Follows same rules.

Bio II > Dia II > Bio > Dia

It's really surprising that there's any debate... It takes all of 5 minutes to test which DoT overwrites which, and another 5 minutes to test which enfeeble effect overwrites the other.

If you really concerned, go test it for yourself, but this is the very basic stuff...

Bio = Attack Down
Dia = Defense Down

I always use Dia within EXP Parties, but for HNM's Bio is prob the best Choice.. cuz its still gonna take a long @$$ time to bring the mob down anyways ,with or without dia.

Bigboy casts Dia. The Goblin Leecher takes 2 points of damage.
Phraust casts Bio. The Goblin Leecher takes 8 points of damage.

The Goblin Leecher's Bio effect wears off.
~~~~
Dia never wore off, no more damage occured either. Conclusion: Bio overwrites Dia.
Bigboy casts Bio. The Goblin Leecher tackes 23 points of damage.
Phraust casts Dia. The goblin Leecher takes 1 point of damage.
The Goblin Leecher's Bio effect wears off.
Dia never wore off, no more damage occured either. Conclusion: Bio overwrites Dia.
That was what happened while I was skilling up with BB in Pashow Marshlands.
Aside from that I have fought Multiple Goblins at a time in areas, Gamblers or Tinkerers Cast Bio on me and a Leecher will cast Dia, and I will remain Bioed. Same thing, I get Dia'd and watch the icon change to a Bio Icon.
Idk about the -ga spells though(Diaga)
appearantly Dia and Bio will both go on a Land God, Kirin, or wyrm. Or so I was told. I was told that the person who told me this (I won't say just cause it's not important :P) saw both Dia and Bio wear off the HNM after they were casted a few minutes before hand.
Sounds like a rumor that survives simply because it is so difficult to prove or disprove. So much spam and other stuff to watch during one of those fights, would be hard pressed to land both and watch for both wearing.
I can confirm from personal experience that even mob Dia/Bio will overwrite one another when they are cast on a player. A couple of nights ago I was in a party in Ro'Meave fighting weapons and noticed that the effects on me were being overwritten. I took notice of this because I am also leveling up WHM on the side and I was unsure which was actually true since I have heard both sides of the coin. I would have taken screenshots, but I don't always run Fraps when I am playing.
