Ive heard from alot of red mages that they regret getting bio III.
Why is that?

Does it do more dot then bio II?

Is it because of the mp sink?

Is it just not worth it on hnm/wyrm/kirin?

Im considering changing my phalanx II merit into a bio III merit is it worth it?

Also does bio III do more then a blm bio II?

Yes, it does more DoT then Bio II.

I think the reason they complain is because it only lasts 30 sec with one merit in it. Even with 3 merits, it lasts all of 1.5 min.

To be honest, Bio III is rather useless unless you solo. I'd much rather have 3 paralyze and 3 slow merits.

I read somewhere, i think it was BG, that BioIII had the equal DoT to a blms BioII, cause of the dark magic difference. So the only real upside would the higher atk down, wich usually doesnt matter cause most things are blink-tanked anyways.

bio II's damage cap is the same as bio III's dmg if you can stack up the dark magic and int to fill it out

Everyone is loving Phalanx II but sadly for Bio III, it's not the same...

ps. WHMs are having the same questions regarding the Martyr Ability.

what about blind II?

I can see Phalanx II being more useful then Bio III personally.
personally the roll I play in my shell I never really get opertunity use phalanx II. because normally sub blm and am in blm party doing enf and dot and refresh. plus really dont see diffents in pld dmg when using phalanx II lvl 1. So would you think it would be better to cap slow II my current merits are

slow II x2
para II x2
dia III x1
phal II x1

I love slow II see huge diffents, also love para II, and dia III is very nice in merit prarties.

Anyone know the atk down between bio II & III?

as far as i know the attack down is like the dot dmg, varies with skill and int, likely caps around where bio II does.

No, the Att down is a static% for each Bio level, like Dia is. But it only lasts as long as the DoT effect does, so again, unless its level 3, its worthless.

Bio III is 30 seconds for each upgrade, for a max of 90 seconds, Bio II is 120 seconds period. With only AF pants and dark torque Bio II is 8/tick from Blm, Rdm needs 225 dark magic skill to hit 8/tick with Bio III.

I think Bio II is -15% attack, and Bio III is -20%, but I'm not positive on that.

Bio III is ~15% (static) attack down. DoT is Dark Skill related and is about the same as a BLM cast Bio II and seems to cap at ~8/tic (2-3 more than a RDM Bio II). Duration 30sec. Each additional Merit adds 30sec to duration.

Phalanx II prevents 15 damage per hit (16 with maxed Enhancing Gear). Further merits add 3-4 damage prevented.

I can't seem to find an old parser post on Blind II. I remember it being parsed to give the same effect as ~8% Evasion, but it was awhile ago I saw it.

Slow II adds a 6% more than Slow I (for the same MND) to a cap of 36% slowed. Max duration is the same as slow I. Further merits are believed to add potency at lower levels but don't increase the cap (I haven't tested with further merits yet).

so your saying that slow II lvl 2 is no better then slow II x3 if you already at the cap?

That's what has been reported. However considering that the Slow II cap is at ~+95MND on HNMs and ~+80MND on Merit mobs, you're rarely going to be casting at cap anyway.

At the levels of MND you have when you're likely to be casting (~+30-50MND), there's been a nice increase reported. I haven't actually tested it past the initial Slow II (it's on my "to do" list).

I have had everything except Blind II at one point. Phalanx II just never yeilded 'good' results. in terms of damage conserved per hit. I had it at level 2 and its its now De-merited. BIO III hardly ever seems worth it it.
so it got de-merited. Now what I am pleased with is Paralyze II Level 3 Slow II Level 2 and Dia III. I do know at just Slow II level 1 it is already stronger then Haste. I know this because I had it reflected on myself and only could get rid of it via Erase. so whatever % Haste is Slow II at level 1 is greater then it. As for Paralyze II. Caedavera Mire seems like a swell place to test , I do on Flys there. When meriting it usually on average procs about 4 - 6 times.. and that was at level 2. translate that to a merit setting and you will find it only swining maybe 2 - 3 times and maybe if it isnt dead a TP move.

haste is 20 or 24% that means the slow we can produce is or equals more than spider web which of course is powerful and overwrites slow.

I could easily imagine that Para II proc rate is similar to the proc rate of Thunderspark, the damage is resisted but the side effect of paralyze is rarely resisted I havent had a single resist of its effect since I first used it.

I plan to have at least all of the spells since there is new items coming out and there may become a need for them.

sorry to derail your thread btw hellstorm.

It procs a lot more then Thunderspark. we are talking a very diffrent level lvl 40 mobs vs. 76 - 78 ( prolly higher just guessing lol) merit mobs.
I dont think any 75 RDM should be without Paralyze II. and at least level 2.
