Bird shits on Bush during press conference

The bird is just doing what Bush has been doing to the Constitution for the past several years.

Osse, you're getting bent out of shape over nothing. A bird shitting on a person outside isn't news. I bird shitting on the president isn't exactly news, but it's one of those oddball little briefs that we in the media like to run because it's worth a chuckle.

Crooks & Liars does a great job and let their hair down with a fun video. Stop being such a wet blanket and get over yourself.

You obviously don't like Bush, there's a lot not to like about the guy. But he's giving a press conference on the AG, and all that the site posts is that a bird shit on a person standing outside? That happens a million times a day. Whomever posted this/runs that site obviously thinks you are a bunch of retards who can't handle serious politics. Don't prove him right.

There are multiple flaming liberal Dems who post on QCDN, and who can form intelligent arguments, who have got to be embarrassed to hell that this thread was made. All this thread is missing is a link to the Beavis and Butthead laugh.

Actually, I run a game development website. I'm a libertarian and I plan on voting for a republican for president.

Seconded

A bird pooping on the president is hardly cathartic.

It wouldn't be news if it wasen't. You must not be familiar with the word past it's uses on television or something.

People say they'd love to shit on the president. They wouldn't actually do it.

People say the president shits on the constitution, privacy, popular opinion, etc. He hasen't actually dropped trou and done it.

Now, correct me if i'm wrong but anyone with half a brain for psychology or the english language can easily see how this is cathartic in many forms, presented thusly:

1. cathartic - emotionally purging.

The bird shits on an authority figure, i laugh. Bad feelings gone or ... purged, to be replaced by amusement.

2. cathartic - An agent for purging the bowels, especially a laxative.

It must be christmas, i didn't even know that. Sure, it's a stretch. But come on. I can dig that you don't appreciate it but to not recognize it is ignorant.

The problem here is people take it as a political statement one way or the other. I just think a bird shitting on someone in power while on camera is funny. No need to be so srs all the time. :P

I really don't give a shit (waits for laugh... nothing... so moves on) about the bird crapping on the Pres. As I said, it happens to Joe Schmoe a million times a day. Because this happened to President Bush, it puts it at the level of Celebrity News, which again isn't news.

The problem I have is with the tone of politics today, particularly on the Dems' side. It's a shrill caterwauling and sometimes has no grip on reality, i.e. Rosie O'Donnel stating that fire can't melt steel (for anyone who has the IQ of a traffic cone, that's how you make steel girders in the first place, they don't grow on trees.) When people get mad enough, they simply take a mean-spirited pleasure out of seeing the object of their anger "get shafted" in some matter, even if that object of anger is actually in the right. That's not only stupid, it hurts the country as a whole. You should not decide national/international issues based upon emotion or even whether the person has a "D" or an "R" after his name.

As far as it being "cathartic", you need to take more of those "best answer" tests. Here's one for you now.

Question 1 of 1. Use the following Quotes to choose the BEST answer to the following question.

It is a sign from above what the universe thinks of him!

the funny thing is that he just wiped it off with his hand, talk aboot unsanitary

The little fucker missed a headshot.

Man I bet a lot of people wish they could do what that bird did and get away with it.

These are examples of:

A. A light-hearted and good spirited laugh that relieved the stress of the person's serious contemplation of tough political issues. ie cathartic

B. An example of Schadenfreude, "shameful joy", or taking delight in the misfortune of another. ie mean-spirited partisan politics

I won't even insult your intelligence by posting the answer key, you should all go 1/1 on this pop quiz.

That's my point in a nutshell. If you are the type of person who thinks s/he wins an argument by spitting out more words or just by having the last word, then today is your lucky day...

Because this happened to President Bush, it puts it at the level of Celebrity News, which again isn't news.

The problem here is you're reacting to this light-hearted joke thread as though the story ran on the front page of the New York Times or the Washington Post instead of an Internet blog about politics. People are having a laugh and you jump in and suck all the oxygen out of the room. What do you do for an encore? Write angry letters to Jay Leno asking him why he doesn't focus on Darfur?

It's hardly confined to the Democrats. Rosie O'Donnell is a freakin' daytime talk show host, which makes her Celebrity News as well. She's said some idiotic shit, but I can just as easily get that from Bill O'Reilley or Pat Robertson.

Did a bird shit in your cheerios today? Is that the problem?

You mean like the president decides things, right? The D's and R's... Because that's about all that's mattered to this administration. I'd challenge you to prove me wrong.

Shrewd attempt at being clever, sadly there's really no refuting the definition and it's application but as i'm reading i'm sure you're going to try so let's see how you do.

The problem here is the answer is subjective based on the level of displeasure one has with the president. I personally didn't take any shame-ful joy in it. What's more i don't think there's shameful joy to be had in it. A laugh is a laugh, morality is in the eye of the beholder. I laughed the same as i would have at any other authority figure i'm not too tickled with having something embarrassing happen. When Bush Sr. barfed on the primier of china? laughed my ass off, not that i didn't like the guy; that shit's just funny. That you would go so far as to grey the definition of the word and it's completely accurate and practical application given the responses in this thread shows exactly who's interested in mean-spirited partisan politics.

Anyone could easily see who's got politics on the brain between the two of us with concideration given to the replies in this topic alone. Most notably that you were the one who brought it up. Moreoever you're being indignant about the fact. What's worse you generalize 'those democrats' by pointing out the likes of Rosie O'Donnel and (not that you did, but not like you didn't want to' i watch O'Rielly too) Jane Fonda. That's just about as bad as me comparing all republicans to Mitt Romney who changes political positions more often than underwear. Maybe Guilliani who apparently doesn't know a goddamn thing about being the president, let alone defending the country, or the history of the governments action both foreign or domestic in the past half a century but still found the money to run based largely on about 3,000 dead american citizens at this point. Or worse Bush himself who's basicly a puppet in a bubble. The distinction being most republicans, no matter how bitter they are about it, can't afford the bubble so much as being a puppet.

That's my point in a nutshell. If you are the type of person who thinks s/he wins an argument by spitting out more words or just by having the last word, then today is your lucky day...

I'm the type of person who believes elocution, content, and precisely worded facts wins an argument. I'm also the type of person who wasen't aware we were having an argument.

I like how you make assumptions about liberals and democrats tho. Clearly all you're after here is a level-headed bi-partisan intellectual debate, amirite?

I mean if you're out to wordrape and make presumptions about someone please do pick a better target who's actually managed to offend you with their words so much as demonstrate exactly what they were talking about without bitterness and the usual bush bashing.
